Primitives (Blocking Models)

- Primitives are objects like spheres, cubes and cylinders. These objects are a handy starting point for any model. Take for example this lizard which we make using primitives.

these feel really nostalgic.
like a flash video.
it's probably the sound effects.
i always back here to remember the basics.
Thanks for the tutorial! It helped
Because they didn't explain how, I made an attempt to back-engineer how they might have arced those Cylinders so effortlessly. I think they started with the "Soft Selection" (no idea which falloff mode) option on one end of it to get the verts/segments quickly, then shift them with both the move AND rotate transform. And then judging by the video here, turning soft select back off and manually tweaking each "Edge Loop" (double click in edge-select mode in Maya) individually by Scaling them.
Nice, I wish my software made those noises while I worked, ha. Sound effects reminds me of the spore editors.
Primitives
Primitive objects: sphere, cubes, cylinders...
Attributes of primitives: objects that the softwaer package can create mathematically
Each primitive can change with different settings.
A collection of simple primitives can create complicated objects
Primitives can be tweaked and shaped into organic shapes
great stuff
how do you merge the primitives together so they become smooth and natural-looking like in the final render?
Bools and dynamesh.
@@dreamsprayanimation Hi, I got to this video thanks to Silo's page but I have a doubt, this can be applied with Wing 3D, Blender and other free software but the learning process, although it seems simple, doesn't have much information. Do you use Silo+Milo or Metasequoia? Are they worth it? Thanks .
there are many ways to retopologize a model, you can delete and fill faces, you can use a plane with mirror etc
That's was amazing, such a cute character modelled from primitives, incredible. Sadly, there are not many tutorials out there for XSI and the ones that are, suck pretty bad.
Your explanations and videos are EXCELLENT!
I WILL NOT, however, being going to your website as long as it requires me to add an unwanted extension to my browser to even look at your information.
hey do u have a tutorial on how to make that lizard would like to follow along and make 1
How do you tweak the vertices for shape the body when you constructed the salamander?
What a good awesome channel. One question, where can I get the sound used in 0:37 to 0:39?
I'm digging the music -- oohm bop oohm oohm oohm bop
@thegoddelusion2010 Perhaps it's the Guerrilla playing the Drums ! LOL
looking at it again, i have NO idea what i was basing that on, so you may well be right :D
(Max/Maya are all i`ve used, so it could just as easily be Blender or XSI... i just wouldn`t recognise them ;) )
OO im still in shock, im only beginning in animation, in my second class atm, and seeing half of the stuff in the video, i commemorate you for it, it's a hard and time consuming process, but u make it look easy xD. this vid made me subscribe, and is there any way u can do a video elaborating on creating the thorny devil from creation to final rendering?
how did ur animation adventure go?
what program do you use
blender
I use 3dsmax,i would like to ask ,how can i merge the pritimives object together(no with boolean)
Use the attach option in editable poly
@thegoddelusion2010 yes.
Your videos are very informative and visualized, in what i think, the best manner to explain a topic. Thank you so much for your work, it is very very much appreciated!
Greetings and all the best!
@GuerrillaCG well yeah depends on what software you actually use, and each to there own before somebody starts a who's/ what's best debate.
