I don't think you understand what you're trying to do here, also, I would never do shotgun for a bull-style target, get some piegons...
I can recommend having a go. Many local clubs in many countries worldwide have open days or will take probationer members. Normally they make no charge for the first try-out (including ammunition). You'll be introduced to a club rifle and likely a barrel rest, on a 25 meter range. Just hitting a target on your first goes will be an achievement as target rifles are fantastically heavy, even the aluminium-stocked ones. If you like what you see you can apply for a probationer membership (in countries where firearms laws are strict). Then you move through shooting with a sling attachment without the rest, loading the rifle yourself, shooting groups (into the same target) then using a scope to see your shots and adjusting accordingly as you work around a ten-target 'card'.
It's a fabulously complex and intense sport, with breath control and concentration crucial. It becomes quite addictive very rapidly as you try to remember so many crucial key technical points. Its a genuine sport and one that really does pitch the competitor not just against his or her peers, but against their own willingness to learn and adapt constantly.
Shooting sports are quite expensive.

You don't get to that level in any sport if you can't tune out noise from the crowd.
lot of misinformation on this thread. these are 22 caliber powder charged rifles. they are "real guns" in the classic sense. they use the 22 for a number of reasons. its a very consistent round. they don't get hot quickly, which would change the precision and accuracy of the gun. and this competition is about marksmanship. it tests the fundamentals of shooting. breathing, trigger squeeze, and sight picture. you don't need a big bore or powerful round to achieve that for a 50 meter range. America doesn't compete very well here because this style of shooting sport isn't popular. we do well in shotgun skeet shooting, which is popular in the US. while shooting is very popular in the US, those that compete in shooting do so in different fashions. like trap listed earlier, and the more combat oriented competitions that test ones speed and accuracy in target acquisition, reloading, moving with one or more different styles of firearms. "something not tested in the Olympics.
GIboy1990. These are not .22s bud their 10mm air rifles bug difference. So dont try and be all theatrical about it. And for your information i am a professional marksman myself and .22s get hot quick so not sure what your talking about.

@@iannordin5250 listen to the announcer at .29 seconds dipshit
francis he pointed out that one of the contestants who had competed in the 10m air isn't doing to hot in the 50m prone. 50m shooting is done with 22s while 10m is done with air. This is because 22s are far more consistent over that distance than air propelled bbs. This is a different event with different equipment

This is actually quite interesting to watch. I have got to watch some shooting events at the next olympics.
Did you watch it mate 😀 ?
@@markomilutinov3554 Yes, yes I did
Instead of indoor controlled conditions, I'd like to see Olympics add outdoor 100m rimfire rifle competitions. 22lr in windy conditions at 100m is very challenging hitting coin size target groupings. Challenge them with both shooting skills and managing natural conditions.
They wear the coolest jackets
Those jackets are made to be very stiff in order to eliminate unnecessary movements in your body, hard to move but easy to keep the pose, it's a lot easier to shoot with those on, they also have "the best" pants, and those are so stiff you can't bend the legs in those. You won't need them in a prone position.
Михаил Тимофеев wow thanks
im confused, the brass ejected looks like a .22 but it says air rifle
The guy was probably mentioning about the other shooting competition (10m air rifle)
People don't know how hard this is i trained so hard to win first in GB under 16s 6yds. There's more factors to this than aim and shoot, 1 adjustment to your sight or a slight wobble will completely ruin your shot. If its so easy why isn't there people that have never done it in the Olympics.
6yds?
The people commenting on why they dont use anything bigger than 22 lr obviously dont realize how much match grade ammo is. Supposedly the batches of 22lr for the Olympics are much more expensive than that bucket of Remingtons.
gotta love their outfits and all the accessories it takes to shoot a .22 rifle
Yeah it's kinda like those gym retards who use a belt and pads when squatting anything more than their body weight
Its easy to take a shot with a 22. but it is freaking hard to hit the x 10 (the inner circle of 10) that is why you need all of that stuff
+Pink_Agent to get more than 10.0 you need to hit within a cm
at 50 meters
I been doing that for 11 years you need the coat to hold you arms up and gives it pressure look up small board kneeling I had to do it on hard concrete st the range
I'm imagining a hillbilly with cutoff jeans and lit cig in his mouth get into this and kill it. The Happy Gilmore of Olympic sharp shooting. 😁
i shot air rifle in high school for 4yrs this stuff is no joke
if you shot air rifles for 4 years, than you would know that these are .22s.. not air rifles.
yes i know there 22lr im just saying stuff like that is hard and takes alot of skill and patients
Brandon Perdue im with you there i got to the national level and if not trained for it it can get nerve-wracking

Question: I've always been trained to shoot with both eyes open- In both recreational leagues as well as when I was on a tactical team. Does that "Blinder" prohibit sight in the non-dominate eye? If so, why? I've always found shooting with both eyes open gave me better detail, better target acquisition and better stamina (no migraines.) Thanks-in-advance for the feedback. Stay Strong, Boston
A 10-month old question probably has an answer now but maybe not the right one so here I go anyway.
I've been shooting this discipline for several years so I'm fairly well placed to answer your question. A blinder is a cheap, often DIY and an essential piece of target shooting equipment.
You absolutely SHOULD shoot with BOTH eyes OPEN but at the same time you don't want the eye not looking through the sights to be able to see anything and overlay that image over your sight picture.
When you close one eye the other eye's pupil dilates to let in more light to compensate. This is a bad thing as it reduces image sharpness and depth of field. Correct use of a blinder:
1 allows you to keep both eyes open.
2 prevents the non-aiming eye from seeing anything to distract from the sight picture.
3 allows plenty of light to enter the non-aiming eye and so prevents the aiming eye's pupil dilating.
You can make a blinder from a piece of translucent plastic like the side of a milk carton or frosted glass as long as you can't actually see anything through it. People fix blinders in place by either using headbands, attaching it to the rear sight or just buy shooting glasses with a movable blinder.
Hopefully this helps you and anyone else seeing this and I wish you every success.
I wonder if they can win those city fair air rifle games.
lol they would probably get frustrated at the innacuracy and inconsistancy of the guns.
They are not shooting air rifles ...
Nope . fair and carnival rifles are always deliberately bent and never shoot where the sights point .. You just have to "know where its gonna shoot" . to hit things with it ..
Mr Cart well actually it is , In the fair games , but not in a 50 Meter Rife
I’m so happy I found this!!!!
you would think america would be good at this
Professor Finesser they only shoot fellow americans, who are really wide so no aiming needed
Americans really only focus on the main sports like basketball which they never lose
We only shoot real guns.
Jasonian well these are real guns.
no theyre air guns, not real guns
Many confusion here related to .22s and air rifles.
For 10 m shooting, air rifles.
For 50 m shooting, .22 lr rifles.
It's common for competitors to train for both categories.
That's really impressive that Leslie Chow has made it from the Hangover movies to the coach of the Korean team......Tootalooo M...F....ers!!!!!!
3:07 why does the Russian have nothing covering his eye and the other guy does? Can you choose?
Yes you can chose you can either have a better view of the target by learning to keep both eyes open or close one eye or cover it

why the massive heavy suits?
Serious question--the rounds look like .22, but its air rifles? Anyone have a link they could share for more info on this type of shooting? Thanks. :)
10m Air
50m .22cal
They are .22lr
We need a trick shot category. Like when they shoot behind there back or something like that. The more difficult the trick shot the more points the shooter gets.
How do they score it so accurately if they’re shooting it
Either by laser grid or by microphone measurement of the impact.
Prone position is pretty comfortable, standing is another story.
My spine just can’t handle it 💔
Three Position exists do for a reason
I know this doesn't look like it requires much skill, but they are shooting .22 Caliber rounds (they are specially designed rifles to give minimum kickback). Those rifles that they use will cost you about $150K. And the bull's eye is only 10 millimeters in diameter. It's harder than it looks lol
60 shots on a 10mm target ... That is skill
If anybody pays 150k for a rifle then they should turn it on themselves
@@gregr.9547 You pay for engineering and design at that level, also, there isn't as much demand for rifles like that
LOL you're SO off here... The most expensive rifles used in this discipline are around 10k$, far far away from 150k. Who fooled you into thinking that?

are they air rifles? why not real rifles?
Stilz Games WHY U THINK SO ?
Aze BC dunno that's why I asked
Yeah its classed as small bore shooting which is at a .22 calibre. The rifles are also made of alluminuim and all unesscary parts are not included so they can be more lightweight thats why they kind of look funny. And its supported with a sling which takes some of the weight of the rifle.
ThatOtherAndrew the 22 ammo they use cost about as much as 30-06 ammo. Super precise stuff
Stilz Games so if some maniac got hold of one he couldn't go around killing people.

7:07 the typical Korean dad look right there!

how much of the result is the equipment, and how much is the person?
UltimateHandler equipment certainly helps, but the basics of trigger press, sight alignment, breathing control, and movement control of the rifle during trigger press is all down to the person.
07.10 didn’t know mr Chow loved shooting
We need The Hunger Games irl.
i wish simo hayha is a olmypian too and joining them.. its gonna so interesting..
To anybody thinks this is easy: Try lowering your heart rate to 40-50 and break the shot between the beats. Thick coats they have are for insulating the heart beat and any other minute muscular movements in the body but you still got to pull that trigger between your heart beats. Most pro shooters seem emotionless because they are in a state of trance during shooting and it takes a few moments to get out of it
What is the computer screen for?

looks like a bowling alley?
What kind of bullets are they using?
.22LR
What is the magnification on these scopes?
is there any?
No magnification, they are iron sights and the target is tiny. The centre of a 25m target is barely 10mm across, and to be good your looking at scoring a consistent 98-99 each time, every time. The rifles are also deceptively heavy hence the sling.
@@Outland9000 They're not exactly iron sight but rather diopter and globe sights. Also the target is at 50m distance and the "bullseye" is 10.4mm to be precise.
No magnification though when i used to do the sunday morning amateur version of this (5m free standing with air rifles. Distance was so short due to the matches being held in little brown cafes around town) i shared a rifle with my dad. Since he wears glasses we had a special diopter with a lens in it to correct for that. Me using it resulted in what i would guess is a 1.2x magnification for me. No idea if those are allowed in top level competition like this tough.

What's up with the outfits and gloves? Are they really that necessary?
Gloves, ehh, the outfits are more to constrain movement, since at this level, minor movement loses points
