Wow! What a movie. There's a moral to this story and it's this: people you think who are in your corner. Even those with the most respect and admiration for you...can turn on you. Never leave nothing to chance.
Ironically....besides his wife...the only person that remained loyal to him was the one person that was considered the lowest of people in that city. Dolly was a true friend. She could have betrayed him to exact revenge on him for breaking her heart. But instead she backed him up all the way. That is true friendship and true love. Because when you love someone you want that person to be healthy and happy even if its not with you. RESPECT!
👏 👍 On behalf of all the hard working plow pushers, hay shakers, sod busters, well diggers, miners, prospectors, swampers, fence menders, mule skinners, bull whackers, wood choppers, manure haulers, coal heavers, wranglers, ranch hands, cowpunchers, cattle drovers, stage coach drivers, and shotgun messengers, I thank you for another great Classic Western to get us through these pandemic times.
I love everything about this movie! I love the acting, the action, and the story are so well done! And that's saying a lot for a film made in 1954! Overall, a fantastic cowboy movie!
From all I read Dan Duryea was the complete anthitis of the characters he portrayed. A real family man that preferred gatdrning andwho led a very non descriptive life off screen.
I hope that we will see these masterpieces continuously, because they remind us of the most beautiful stages of our lives, the days of our adolescence and youth, but I hope that it will be translated into the Arabic language. Thank you very much.
What a story with full of twist and suspense which kept me glued on a chair so not to miss any scene. The accused asked for two hours to delay extradition in order for him to find proof of his innocence, but even at the start the odds do not favored him because of the documents seemed to be real. Every minute that passed things are getting grimmer for him and his life hanging by a thread. If not of the pretty bar girl who's full of tricks and knows how to manipulate and blackmail insisted to send the telegraph, he'll be hanged or killed when two hours had passed. He has a little bit of luck too, he has no gun but the other fella was killed when the bullet ricochet hit him through the heart. I wasn't expecting the story to end like that. I was thinking he would fight in a gunbattle and duel with the fake Marshall in order to survive and prove his innocence as how the western movies usually the story end.
Entertaining movie, Stuart Whitman became a star later in his career, Alan Hale jr. Became famous for his role as " the Skipper " on T.V's Gilligan's island. Also included in the cast are most of the recognizable character actors in Hollywood.
Stephanie Cannon That bl*@#$ Marshall, the present day world is full of them... Slimy as a eel, all they think of is filthy lucre... Hallelujah, what a ending One day the world will also go the same way...
You're right Bear! They don't make anything like they used to anymore, because once greed sets in, they start cutting corners on productions, services and movies, and everything else. (just like coca cola, it used to taste sooooo good in those skinny greenish glass bottles in the hot summer time) They all read about the billionaires in fortune 500 magazines and suddenly they all want to play "catch up" with Bezos, musk, buffet, gates, and others... by any means necessary because they realize their clocks are ticking. (herd mentality) Like a woman who will "NOW" date any one because she thinks her "eggs" are drying up. Anyway, this is a great movie with a very beautiful Lizbeth Scott that I want to watch while eating a nice 9 course Thanksgiving dinner complete with egg nog and apple pie! (then fall asleep on the couch for 3 hours, ha ha ha) Doesn't she remind you of the sexy Helen Slater from the movie "secrets of my success"? Anyway, happy holidays to you Heinz Bear and your loved ones. Peace~
Interesting that Rose & Dan weren't getting married in the church but that was where Dan goes for sanctuary and a 'miraculous' deliverance from his persecutor.

I was the same way. I thought I wouldn't like Westerns but I eventually found out how many jewels were among the heap. The very best ones were directed by John Ford, Howard Hawks, and Anthony Mann.
Excellent story and fine acting throughout! Dan Duryea bears a resemblance to actor Robert Horton, perhaps best known for his role as Flint McCullough on the television series WAGON TRAIN.
What good fortune. I caught this yesterday (Today is July 15, 2020.) I love E, Scott, but Dolores Moran stole the show. She was just about the best imaginable back-up role. Great acting all around. Emile Meyer, much-used character actor, was outstanding as the sheriff. Where on earth has this movie been? Payne almost never smiled.
Yeah I'd never seen Delores in anything before but she was great as the tough woman in this. Usually Lizabeth plays those parts but she had a rather simpering character in this. A real shame Delores didn't get better parts and she died aged just 58...
What an intense film. Thrill a minute and with an excellent cast. Always liked John Payne and Dan Duryea makes such a wonderful bad guy!
it was intense
Don't miss this one.
Kept me on my toes throughout it.
Wow 👏 legendary film,,guyz for sure don't miss this one,,,,I'd give it a five star
Excellent movie. Dan Duryea one of the most convincing bad men in western movies.
That was a good movie. I’ve been binging on old Westerns lately and this is one of the better ones. Two thumbs up! 👍 👍
🦄
I have to agree.
Give me a break. What about the $5,000 that Ballard gave to Johnson? 🧐🤔😳 This cartoon is a JOKE!🤡🤠🤡🤠👉🏽🙄👈🏾
I'd also recommend The Raid and The Secret of Convict Lake. Both are really original Westerns and two of the best on here.
Great movie. Dan Duryea one of the best bad men in western movies.
Him and Lee Van Cleef! I wish they'd both been baddies together in a Western...

Okay! I agreed -101% ,wholeheartedly, thanks an awful lot!!! For your very nicely and wordly statements.

It is one of the best cowboy movies I have seen in the last few years
Beautiful classic western movie....thanks for sharing.
°°
Unusually outstanding western that would have been more successful if it had an A-lead like Randolph Scott.
I don't agree. This movie didn't need Scott. John Payne was terrific here.
Thank You for a GREAT WESTERN MOVIE.
Thank you for making the time and effort to share these westerns. 🙏🏿🏆☝🏿
A short, fast, entertaining Western! John Payne was definitely one of the better leading men of his time. He was also remarkably versatile.
Dan Duryea is always most watchable while John Paine is as dull as ever !
Great Movie with a Great ending, Loved the Movie!!

Most older westerns were better way back when!

Dan Duryea is a great actor. he never received the accolades he deserved
Agreed!
But that gating voice.....

The faith and power of women❤
You've got to love good little hypocrites that blindly follow lies and gossip. Good movie.
The film was a dig at Joe McCarthy. A guy acting in the guise of a hero, sowing the seeds of distrust in order to further his own selfish intentions.
