I am so glad I found you!!! I think we have similar skin because when you mentioned the slight tightness, I totally understood. I am searching for a new foundation because my skin is getting drier in my 40's and your content is indispensable. Also, love your description of 'graceful degradation' - what a fabulous turn of phrase!
I didn't have high hopes for this when I saw how dewy it was, but it really looked nice! Especially outdoors. The lightness of the color around your mouth wasn't evident in natural light. I hope you're enjoying a little peace now that the end of semester bedlam has ended. Take care Shelly.❤
Yep and I think it eventually did start to match - probably just slower on the rougher skin. I just finished prepping my summer online class (which start Monday) - thus my late video tonight! But it means I can take the weekend off :) and I am looking forward to that!
I have oily acne prone skin and was shocked by how much I love it. I don't set it with powder, love the dewy look. Doesn't settle in any lines or pores. It's pretty long wearing too which surprised me. I break out from absolutely everything and this is the only product I've used that doesn't give me a reaction. I wish they had more true neutrals, I feel like they pull pretty warm after awhile.
I know it was posted 2 years ago but I was just trying this foundation and had to watch your video.I’m not sure either if I like this one a best. Thank you! It was a big surprise to see you with long hair, loved it 😍
Sometimes I miss the long hair but every time I get a cut or have to color it I am so glad it's short now! lol but I have donated my hair twice, growing it out long then chopping it off short. I just go back and forth... I'll have short hair for a few years then get bored and grow it out again. Though I haven't been able to donate it for a long time since I do so much bleaching and coloring these days. But in the younger days I did!
I'm loving this especially in quarantine. I apply with my fingers, can build up, and set with my hourglass veil powder.. the BEST for my dry mature skin. I feel like with all the skincare in it my skin feels good even when I take it off!!! It's a 1 and done with skincare spf and light coverage. Thanks!!!
This is one of those few serum style products that I think looks even better set with powder. I'll have to try with the Hourglass. It's gorgeous with the Charlotte Tilbury too. I bet the Becca hydra power would look nice too.
@@goow i wanted to also say the first couple times I used it, I skipped my skincare cuz that's what some video reviews said to do. But honestly the last 2 days I've applied my Vitamin C, then my good molekules niacinamide, then the Ilia with my fingers. After I set with hourglass, it looks so pretty as the day went on and stayed even sitting outside and it was pretty warm here today. Alitle concealer and Fenty cream blush and it was perfect. Really loving this......
I wish you mentioned the skincare products you used before the beginning of the video. The Ilia serum is supposed to help with blue light because it has mineral spf in it. So that's why I'm going to try it. It looks wonderful on you. I'm 43, so I'm always looking for skincare for 40s dry skin. The only products And swear by are Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair serum and the Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye Supercharged Complex Synchronized Recovery eye formula which is very creamy and emollient. I often dot a little on my cheeks and forehead when I'm extra dry. I added the eye formula when I was almost 40 and noticed that my eyelids were getting crepey. I noticed that my eyes looked much better after a couple months, and the crepeyness mostly went away, so I've continued to use it and have no intentions of stopping. I am still looking for my holy grail moisturizers and face oils.
I have quite dry skin and it didn’t work for me. It separates the pigment on my skin and makes it feel even dryer over time. I’ll have to try to serum foundation you recommended
I clearly heard a "snoochie boochies"! I already adored you, but a fellow Kevin Smith Fan...Too bad we live in different countries, lol. I would totally geek out and do a marathon with you. Dogma is my all time favourite movie. I bought Science Serum due to your recommendation and I'm absolutely stunned by the results and I am almost tempted to say the new Pat McGrath concealer may be my new fav. It seems to have a bit more coverage for me then the Charlotte Tilbury. Oh ya, the Ilia, doesn't seem like it would work for me. I'm not sure anything could out do my Dior foundations. Anyways thanks for being you. You rock!
I had to see how many people would get the reference.... this is how I find my people 😂 I just watched Chasing Amy again for the zillionth time. The scene with Matt Damon where he's pitching the comic tv show and he says snoochie boochies wrong... lol ahhh I love Kevin Smith. I want to watch Mallrats again but I can't find it streaming and I have no idea where I put my DVD player after I moved last spring.
@@goow I just watch the Jay and Silent Bob Reboot a couple nights ago. I'm so sad that I missed the viewing with Kevin Smith. That would have been a hoot! Chasing Amy is an absolute fav too! It's mentioned in the new one, if you haven't seen it yet, highly recommend! Prime has a lot of his stuff. Mallrats is on Prime via STARZ. Complete bummer about your DVD player.
When you stated that this changes shade after application, the first thing that went through my mind was that the formula oxidizes and instead of figuring out how to fix it, they made it a product feature. Lol! But after you applied powder I thought it looked very nice and smooth. Unfortunate about the clinging to dry skin. Maybe for those "no makeup" days? I've used so many different style brushes for applying highlighter including the RT setting brush you use. Recently I picked up the elf fan brush with the black handle and bristles while grocery shopping at Kroger. (Quarantine makeup shopping! LOL!) So far it's my favorite because it's quite a bit smaller than most fan brushes so I'm able to control it better and not have highlighter where I don't want it like too close to my eyes or up against the sides of my nose, etc... Absolutely love your eye look today Shelly! Love those deep, smokey greens. :) Stay safe, stay healthy!
I just picked up the loreal age perfect serum foundation and I really like it I need to stop buying foundations and use the million I have but I can't help myself their my weakness lol
I had such good luck with this despite fearing it would be a disaster. I'm 48 with severely dry but not sensitive skin. It went on matching my skin (shade 1) and didn't darken, which is fabulous. The price makes me wince but it's so surprisingly good.
I've been pleased with their complexion products so far! Glad to hear shade 1 does not darken - that can be a problem with these adjusting types of products on the fair end of the spectrum especially.
@@goow I broke down and got the foundation as well, and it's good (also a good match) but I think I like the finish of the tint the best. It's so dewy and skin like! I'm going to try mixing them to see what happens.
I purchased that RT brush too and found it applied WAY too much product and when you try to blend it would only seem to create buildup. It actually looks like a wonderful lay down brush for metallic eyeshadows just a very large one. It seems to work best at diffusing cream products. Great review as always 💜
Yeah I think that's what it is - I couldn't put my finger on why I am not liking it but your description is it. It seems like it should blend nicely but it doesn't.
I tried it too and have the same thoughts. It felt drying and a little tight as the day went on. Also clinged to the drier parts of my face. I’m gonna use it up but probably won’t purchase again.
Was very interested to see what you think of this as we seem to have similar skin and tone. This was my favourite tint but it’s just been pipped at the post by the new Dior Forever summer skin tint. Love the finished look and eyes - fab u lous!
Kara Ley I’ve been using it for a little while now! It was a little more viscous than I was expecting, but still applies really nicely- I’ve grown to like it more and more. My friend with more oily skin really likes it too, so it seems to have a good bit of versatility!
It's finally nice enough to have the windows open this evening, and I'm listening to the pitter patter of rain and keep thinking, "It's not supposed to be raining... they said the rain would miss us...." 😂
You have been getting me curious with these serum type foudations. Kosas is on my list of brands to try officially, this one might be on the radar now too! You costing me money Shelley! 🤑
😂If I had to pick only one, I'd probably go Kosas - but I do enjoy this one (and the other Ilia foundation which has just a little more coverage is an all time favorite).
I figured it was on theB+/A- cusp, but I still think I am going to pass on this one. Like you, I enjoy the original serum foundation, so I think I'll stick with that. I'm excited for the ND mini Gold makeup and chill - this is twice you've worn that palette, and it is outstanding. I have never bought any ND, but I may have to get that little palette. It's so beautiful on you. Thanks as always for posting and keeping us both entertained and informed. It's good to get my Shelly fix M, W and F. Happy weekeknd!
Yep if you already have the original Ilia, stick with that. There's no cusp with that one. It's been a hit since day 1. I just looked up its score and it was a 94 A and that's definitely still true to me. I have to check my bottle - it's probably almost gone. I wore it all summer last year.
@@goow Hi Shelly 😁. I have a bunch of stuff from Glossier I got a couple weeks ago, and their products didn't work on my skin unfortunately, so I'm happy to send everything to you. I was just going to toss it all, so I'd be happy if it went to a good home, as nobody I know wants it. Hit me up if you're interested and I'll let you know what I have. Email at amandabeling@gmail.com 😁. P.S. you're skin looks stunning in this review!
@@lynndecarlo6704 yes I did! It's actually really good, but I definitely need to set my under-eyes just slightly so that the concealer sets a bit as I have combination skin and if things are too creamy under my eyes it drives me nuts, lol. You don't have to set it though, so that is a plus. I just like to. It's definitely not a super full-coverage concealer like Tarte Shape Tape, but it's very comfortable and it really does move with your skin...I use it to spot conceal small areas of my face too. I enjoy it a lot, but unfortunately I did not care for the new version of the Skin Tint. I like the original formula better, but they don't make it anymore. But I would say check out the concealer when you get a chance :-)
@@beezer81 sounds like the type of concealer I like under my drier mature eyes. I like a hydrating formula and I set just under the lashline with hourglass veil powder. As soon as my shade comes back in I will order. Thanks so much!!!
Does this foundation mix well with any foundations you’ve tried, maybe adding it to a more matte foundation that has more coverage so that you can also get the hydration from the ilia? 🧡 I have ysl all hours foundation I use that is my favorite but in the winter it is a little dry because my skin like yours definitely goes drier in the winter.
I would say for hydration try the other Ilia foundation - the True Skin Serum Foundation. It's a tiny bit more coverage than this but mixes really well and is super hydrating! Or if you want this same style of formula, try the Kosas Tinted Face Oil - it also mixes well and is super hydrating, and about the same coverage impact as this one.
Hi Mave! This is a mixture of Arctic Fox Poison (red) and Purple Rain (purple), on dark brown hair that was bleached 1 time to get it to light brown before coloring. :)
Thank you for dropping that on something other than your face. I dont know why but it really annoys me when folks drop it directly on their skin then stare in the camera while it slides down their face. 😅
Looks like a very nice lightweight foundation. The color is a great match for you, Shelly. It's a shame that it needs to be set. I'm not a big powder fan. I love that it's a clean formula. Can you possibly review Milani's newest foundation, Screen Queen? I've heard mixed reviews. Thank you. Have a great weekend. By the way, I don't think that Sephora will be giving samples out anymore. I heard that all testers will be removed. Things are definitely going to be a lot different. 😔
Same! And thank you :) I got suckered into a couple of the spring limited edition Essie shades. (I say that as if someone forced me... ha.... I suckered myself into them....)
Bit pricey, specially on this side of the planet (we don't have this one yet, but the other serum foundation is $86 here), but damn - it really did look pretty... especially in your outdoor bit where I thought it was really lovely on your skin. And I liked the colour - not yellow or orange! Have you heard, Revolution has a new sub-brand, apparently a bit posher than the regular lines, so new foundations etc, there. I've seen one review so far and the stuff seems quite nice.
Did this feel too light for you? It looks very pretty but I was surprised by your shade match. They recommended me shade 6 in Ora. I noticed you’re a shade 10 in saie foundation which was dark for me I’m more of an 8.
It's a smidge light for most of the year on me - a good match for the absolute dead of winter when I'm 100% in my Casper the Friendly Ghost era. But I still wear it and bronze it up :)
Hi ,Always love your video's (from holland) I have a lot of acne and my foundation does not last when my face gets warmer. it breaks down on my face. Also in wintertime because of the heater .going from cold to warm.i wear medium to full coverage foundation.Rimmel 25 hour lasting at the moment.Last week it was about 75 degrees and my foundation did not looked good after couple hours outside.my face got warm but not extreme.it this normal??xx
I love that Rimmel foundation! I liked its first formula better than the newer one but they're both good. I think the original is discontinued. I have days where it's just not a good "face day." Sometimes it's because I used different skin care or sunscreen underneath and sometimes my body chemistry is just off that day (nutrition/hydration play a role too).
I have red a lot of positive reactions on that foundation but it is just not working on my face, also looks cakey and i don t think i have dry skin...too bad.i use 2 pumps but even if i use 1 it is still a bit cakey.
I can see a shine on my nose chin and cheeks but if i blot it stays shiny ...do you know if that means that its dehydrated??my face does not feels tight at all.
Another great video Shelly. Your skin looked beautiful outside in natural light. If I were going to purchase a serum foundation or anything of that ilk, I’d probably go for Kosas skin tint oil for my super desert-like skin. Whew! How’s that for a run-on sentence? Have a good weekend and love as always to the kitties in your life! 😘🐈🐾🐾
A little bit more coverage and a little less of the amazing improved-skin feeling at the end of the day. The Kosas really blows me away in that my skin feels better after wearing it than it did before. Equally pretty.
hi, shelly! oh how i hate an ingrown hair! i have one that grows by my lip that is visible to me but takes forever to come thru the skin - i can literally see in under my skin - taunting me. nice look - very pretty on your skin. i like the eye look too. have a great weekend! stay safe, well and sane! ~k
Same with my whisker!!! I'll see a thick black LINE in my face and it's like, GAHHHHH!!!! Sometimes I hate-pluck it thinking the extra evil thoughts will make it go away. (Does not help).
Timely review. I was interested in that product. Please, Darling, dont "get sun". Especially since you are using tretinoin. Hoping you meant faux tanning. Cheers!
Yes I only self-tan :) I wear SPF50 every single day (and touch up in the summer). My arms still pick up a half shade of color even with sunscreen, but my only intentional color is from self tanner.
@@goow, You are smart. So many ppl, even beauty influencers such as yourself on here, 1 aged 45 tells me she "gets a tan even with sunscreen" and I feel like telling her, "Y'all are the up and coming generation who can AVOID the ravages of aging from UVA rays. My children and grandchildren do NOT NEED to develop deep lines and wrinkles by ages 60, & 70. My generation is the LAST ONE that needs to LOOK old! (Since our parents didn't know better about sun protection, nor did we, even at age 30.) My daughter is about 8 or 10 years younger than you, and she doesn't go in the sun except to walk to work or go out with the children, but she likes the way the sun feels on her face, so it's difficult trying to get her to wear sunscreen.. I've got a big pkg I'm sending her tomorrow full of different sunscreens I hope she will like & more for the children + other goodies as a bribe. Ah yes, the yearning to be able to go to Sephora or Ulta again. I want to look at new makeup and get stuff for my hair that I’m running really low on. I can’t believe we’ve been basically home bound for 9 weeks. Personally we started before our governor made it official because hubby’s employer decided to test run fully working at home before St. Pat’s weekend. (A bunch of their team is in India so they were looking globally well before any government agency was seriously recommending it.) I really want to, even if cautiously, go SOMEwhere, hell, anywhere, even if it’s just to run an errand to return or exchange things I bought online. I seriously need a change of scenery and the grocery store and Target just aren’t cutting it anymore.
My local Ulta isn't doing any re-opening yet but the next closest one an hour away is starting curbside pickup next week. It's a beautiful drive over the mountain for me. I might have to find an excuse to drive out there.
Geek Out of Water, I think mine opens on June 1st. I just want to take the foundation and Benefit brow stuff I bought during “21 Days of Beauty” in and have one of the makeup specialists tell me if I got the right colors. I haven’t used them, I’ve been patiently waiting.

@@beezer81 did u try their stretch concealer? I heard great things and it's currently out of stock. I'm on the list when it returns.
Pretty foundation and total look!
Oh you just said it wasn’t as hydrating as you thought lol. Ugh I’m really looking for a good hydrating foundation 😂😂
@@goow thank you I really appreciate your input! 🧡🥰
Your hair color is gorgeous? What brand and color do you use? Fabulous!! 💗
Hi Mave! This is a mixture of Arctic Fox Poison (red) and Purple Rain (purple), on dark brown hair that was bleached 1 time to get it to light brown before coloring. :)
"So that is, uh, ... interesting." Between that and "snootchy bootchies," I had to pause for a laughter break.
Hehehehe I was watching some Jay & Silent Bob the other day and can't get it out of my head. I love Kevin Smith!
Screen Queen was pretty terrible on me. It got a D+ but I'll never wear it again 😂 ua-cam.com/video/LL9KpThGUN8/v-deo.html
@@goow did I miss it? I'll have to go back and watch. I trust your opinion, since we have similar skin types. Thank you!!
I'd prob go Kosas out of the 2 but I always want all Ilia to be a yes. Very cute nails!
Same! And thank you :) I got suckered into a couple of the spring limited edition Essie shades. (I say that as if someone forced me... ha.... I suckered myself into them....)
Do you think this has the same or more coverage than Mac face and body? I’m thinking of this one since Mac did not work out for me
I'd say they're about the same with one pass, with the MAC being a little bit more buildable.
I love this product but it does settle in my pores towards the end.
😮😮😮 I have not heard that and now I must find it!
Yep I'd opt for the Kosas too!
Thanks! 👌🏽
How would you say this compares to the Kosas tinted face oil?
A little bit more coverage and a little less of the amazing improved-skin feeling at the end of the day. The Kosas really blows me away in that my skin feels better after wearing it than it did before. Equally pretty.
hi, shelly! oh how i hate an ingrown hair! i have one that grows by my lip that is visible to me but takes forever to come thru the skin - i can literally see in under my skin - taunting me. nice look - very pretty on your skin. i like the eye look too. have a great weekend! stay safe, well and sane! ~k
p.s i peel my eyes for no one!
(Since our parents didn't know better about sun protection, nor did we, even at age 30.)
My daughter is about 8 or 10 years younger than you, and she doesn't go in the sun except to walk to work or go out with the children, but she likes the way the sun feels on her face, so it's difficult trying to get her to wear sunscreen.. I've got a big pkg I'm sending her tomorrow full of different sunscreens I hope she will like & more for the children + other goodies as a bribe. Thanks for your report on DIOR FAB shades & ur winter shade🤗
Love your background!!!
Thanks, Tara! I got it from Urban Outfitters!
Rewatching you look beautiful here
Hi, I MUST tell you:
You look so.beautiful in this when you paused for a sec, so ppl cpuld see the fpundation (toward the end of the video), I guess that's why you paused.. Then you had a little Mona Lisa smile, and turned your head slightly. Just want you to know that. This is Char / aka NoSleep/Beatnik, & I'm currently on one of my other UA-cam IDs, which I rarely use. Not sure you would "recognize" me as Kara☺ Foundation looks nice on you, BTW!!...שלום..👍
Is it true it smells bad
It has a scent but it's not very strong to me (but I don't have a sensitive nose at all). It doesn't bother me or smell bad to me.
Enjoyed
Ah yes, the yearning to be able to go to Sephora or Ulta again. I want to look at new makeup and get stuff for my hair that I’m running really low on. I can’t believe we’ve been basically home bound for 9 weeks. Personally we started before our governor made it official because hubby’s employer decided to test run fully working at home before St. Pat’s weekend. (A bunch of their team is in India so they were looking globally well before any government agency was seriously recommending it.)
I really want to, even if cautiously, go SOMEwhere, hell, anywhere, even if it’s just to run an errand to return or exchange things I bought online.
It oxidizes, that’s why it gets darker.
I didn’t see Pikachu for a minute, and I slightly panicked. 😳
Pikachu is never far away 😂
Your hair is getting so long. I wish my would grow.
It has taken years but finally it's getting there!! Hang in there and keep at it!

Dude! Snoochi boochi... heck yeah(;
Hehehe I was wondering how many people will get the reference :)
Jay & Silent Bob?
Geek Out of Water you’re one, very cool chick Shelly💜
