The reason is because all Religious based holidays have two features. The religious feature, ie Jesus birth, Jesus Resurrection, Satan’s day, and the secular retail industry features, Santa, Easter Bunny, egg hunts, bobbing for apples, trick or treating. Some people only care about the religious aspects but want nothing to do with the secular aspects. Since Halloween is more based around Satan then Jesus they don’t want to celebrate it.

Yes! It's all about having fun. You can dress up and be whatever you want for the night, and there is soooo much candy and goodies. People also enjoy watching scary movies around Halloween time due to the old superstitions surrounding this time of year. But basically nowadays, it's an excuse to put up fun decorations and have fun like a kid again. Some people do it for just the last few days of the month, others decorate during the first part of the month and enjoy them for three or four weeks. To each his own.

@B Babbich Well let's do a little history. When Britain had the 13 colonies. They made a treaty with the indigenous people, to not go inland further than the Appalachian mountains. The fact that the colonists wanted more lands was part of the reason they made a fuss and the native people sided with the British.
Now, your lot were given your independence and decided to push west. Claiming land, belonging to hundreds of tribes right across what is now known as America.
So are you saying that America belonged to the British at the time. Because you claim America started about 4th July 1776. So I guess you can't blame us for the genocide inflicted on the indigenous population from then.
It's so annoying when you lot "bash" the British. It's like when your petulant adolescent kid slams doors and screams "I hate you? I hate you!" at their parents.
You know one day they will grow up and realise how stupid they look.

Now that I’m an adult I love passing out candy and I still dress up. I only pass out Halloween cards to invite people to my Halloween parties. I am a macabre person anyways so I decorate my house for Halloween all year except Christmas.

Halloween is a big celebration of the end of the Celtic year and honoring our ancestors. Adults have "fancy dress" parties (costumes). We typically start decorating for Halloween on October 1st and take it down November 1st. Trick-or-treating is generally for children 12 and under, and teens have their own parties. There are also Haunted Houses people can have fun with. Halloween cards are mostly for sending to family and friends who live far away and can't just come over and celebrate it with you.

Truth. By all means, check your kid's bag, but I've never come across anything even remotely suspect. It would take a very special type of crazy to go to the extra effort and cost to do anything malicious. Could I theoretically inject something into a piece of candy and manage to seal the hole with heat to leave an air bubble behind? Probably. But just the thought of that kind of tediousness is exhausting. People have easier, more obvious, and cheaper ways to be cruel than mess with Halloween candy. I'm also thinking the drugs likely weren't really "drugs" but a drunk person thinking Advil was a suitable option. That's far more realistic.

No one eats the pumpkin after its carved. But you can donate them to rescue animal organizations. Mostly they get thrown away or if you are really unlucky it's stolen and smashed on the road. Christians have various takes on Halloween. Some are completely against it, some convert it into a Harvest Celebration and others are totally fine with it. Ususally it depends on your denomination. In the US, normally you have to have your porch light on and the hours are set by the town. If it's decent enough weather wise, most people just set up shop on their porch so you don't have to knock. And really Trick or Treat is for 12 and under or so. Some towns have set ages. As far as decorating, I feel like it's gotten more intense as I've gotten older. But as a society we seem to have a weird obsession with death, (numerous horror movies, books, etc.) feeds into it. We also have Haunted Houses that are specially built attractions that people pay to go through. If you do ever celebrate Halloween in the US, come to Ohio because a Joel and Lia vlog of a Haunted house would be amazing. We have literally tons of them. There was a meme about it even. Not my vibe, (people jumping out of dark rooms with chainsaws and the like, are just a solid no.) But tons of people love them and spend most of October going through them.

So as a Christian why do we celebrate Halloween? That could take a while to answer. The easy one is it's tradition, it's "harmless" fun and it's free candy and the little ones are so adorable. A longer explanation is that the more casual Christian just doesn't understand or care about it's origins and those that do end up doing harvest parties or trunk or treats at their Church.

But they like worshiping Satan because he lets them do what they want with no remorse and no consequences. When she was asked if there were any true Christians or a true religion, she said there is one and they know who they are. She wouldn't give their name as it represents their God. But she said those ones were warning people all over the Earth about the coming war between God and Satan.
If you do a little research, you'll find out that the real Halloween started way before the worship of the demon named Samhain or All Souls day. It was set up after God destroyed the Nephilim which were the hybrid offspring of the Demons. It was set up by the demons to commemorate their dead Sons killed by God.

I have a holiday list of 60 people that I send cards to for every holiday. Family, friends and co-workers living near and far. It's my way to stay in touch with these important people. As for decorating, I put up all that I can for all to see for every holiday. People drive by to see the sights and look at the lights at Christmastime. My electric bill is 6 times higher in December and I don't care. People send cards to us to thank us for the delightful displays in our yard. Halloween decorating usually starts right after our Labor Day in September. Fall decorations can be mixed with Halloween decorations as well. Right after Halloween we decorate for Thanksgiving. After that, we decorate for Christmas and leave that up until the New Year. Then there is Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day, Easter and then we roll Memorial Day, the 4th of July and Labor Day into a summer long patriotic display of Red, White and Blue. Candy at Halloween is a kids delight! Dressing up for young and old is good fun. Getting treats or a gift is great but it is nothing compared to seeing the joy on someone's face when you are the giver. It is better to give than to receive! All of this for most of us is our way to give to the community and make great memories for both young and old. It's amazing what you remember from your childhood in celebrating all of our holidays.

    • @jennifer7895
      @jennifer7895 4 роки тому +3

True. I watch a documentary on urban legends and poison candy was one of them. It started because in 1974 a boy got sick and died from eating one of his candies. I think it was a pixie stick. Autopsy revealed he died from potassium cyanide. Long story short, the dad laced his kids candy, as well as his neighbors kids (who where trick or treating with his kids), with the drug so he wouldn't be suspected when his kids died. Luckily, but sadly, only the boy ate it. Dad did it all for the insurance money. He was convicted of murder and got the lethal injection some years later.

In my experience, ‘Trick or Treat’ is just something you say as a kid, just after the stranger opens his door and just before he plops candy in your bag. There was never any resentment for the holiday...if the front porch light was off, that meant the house wasn’t participating in Halloween, and we skipped your house. Most houses chose to participate, though. “Tricks” usually happened the night before, on ‘Mischief Night’ when teenagers vandalized people’s houses/cars/trees with toilet paper (“T.P.-ing a house”) or eggs, or whatever. Nothing serious, just shenanigans.

I can't give exact answers to your question, but Halloween is my favorite holiday, so maybe I can provide some insight. Christmas is a holiday all about family, togetherness, and hope. It's nice, but it can feel a bit stale and samey, especially with holidays like Valentines day and the 4th of July also being about similar virtues. Halloween just feels exciting, rebellious, and electric by comparison. While originally based on harvest festivals, nowadays its more about confronting and overcoming individual fears. It just feels cooler and more youthful than Christmas - a holiday whose mascot is literally an old man. It's a chance to be someone who you're not, a chance to be unafraid and let go of your inhibitions, a chance to celebrate everything dark and taboo that isn't discussed in day-to-day life. It also holds a special place for people like goths, nerds, and cosplayers; people who "dress up" in unconventional ways year-round, but were often criticized for it as a child. Halloween is a day where society celebrates their interests and that be very cathartic. So I can't put into words exactly what it is about Halloween that makes it so special, but I can tell you that the electric energy I feel in my bones as an American during October is unlike anything else I've ever felt - and every bit as strong as the warm fuzzy feeling I get in December. Hope that helps :)

I think it starts in childhood, because what kid doesn’t love a holiday where you can get dressed up in wacky outfits, then go door to door in groups while in the dark, getting candy. They have always spoken their minds and not been politically correct. This is what I like about them. I doubt seriously they would slam the door in a 3 year old's face. Joel already said he just wouldn't answer the door. Not everyone in the US loves Halloween either. I didn't participate this year for the first time in many years. They have changed the rules on Halloween and they do "Trunk or Treat" at their community parks in neighborhoods or at churches and people sit in their trunks and give out candy from their cars. I think if you go back to their first videos, they pretty much are the same way they are now with a little more age and polish on them.

Commercial Halloween pumpkins in the US aren’t really grown for eating-though you can save and roast the seeds. Commercial Halloween pumpkins don’t have enough ‘meat’ in them to roast and purée. Kind of a waste all the way around-but they do look cool when their carved and lit! Our market does sell pie pumpkins that you can roast and eat.

We also are planning to decorate our new home with Halloween and Día de los muertos items when we move, including but not limited to a 🎃- themed Xmas tree which I would like to make decorations for.
