Peter, I am relieved! I was so worried it would ruin your model trying to fix it and ruin your enjoyment of building it, but you fixed it and did another "come clean" video instead. That in itself deserves credit.
I recently had a tail wheel snap off a finished model and had to drill it and insert a metal rod, so i know how hard this can be on a finished kit.
Working through issues with kits can be very frustrating and there are times I build out of the box for a nice easy build (I wish!), but mostly i torture myself with resin detail sets and superdetailed cockpits anyway so its self inflicted for me in many cases.
Keep doing what you do. Your rants are constructive and help decide if the level of effort required is the same as our skill levels. We can avoid or at least be forwarned of pitfalls if we decide to take if on.

For reattaching gear legs I've come to start drilling out a hole in the leg and what's left in the well, and then CA'ing brass rod into the holes to add some additional support.
Also got myself ZM's J2M3. Can say right now that while they look nice on video, actually handling one really shows how nice they can be.

We've had something going around in the states for months. Starts as a cold, develops into bronchitis and then you're coughing for weeks and weeks. You'll feel better for a few days and then you relapse a bit. It's kind of like a roller coaster ride, although it isn't nearly as much fun. Take care of yourself Peter!

I do love your videos Peter. My brother once had a car from new that he swopped after 3 years. When I asked him what was wrong with it he said nothing just fancied a change. His wife however said they got read of the car because it needed a new engine, after doing 6500 miles, and that the door handle had come off in her hands and that there were an increasing number of squeaks and that the tail gate had failed and needed to be held up. So I guess its just different perspective. I have built some stunning Eduard models, I have had some dogs too.

As a slight add-on: poor kits remain poor kits. Old molds, poor quality control, the reasons vary. The obnoxious part is being asked to PAY good money for it. In this day and age it's reasonable to expect quality for your money, not just: they're only modelers, they'll buy anything. Dane

Forgive me for waxing pedantic for a moment. My wife has occasionally asked after I have finished a kit: are you happy with it? My more than normal reaction: I wish I had done this or that - replied with: so why didn't you? I am honestly floored. Was I in a rush to finish? Bored with the kit? This will be close enough? I really have no honest answer. Like yourself I am willing to admit errors and have gone to extents to fix them. Unlike yourself, I don't answer to others - only me. So I do believe self-criticism comes first ( and admitting errors) It takes a big heart to admit publicly how you erred, however it it's part of the game...it's what we DO. Next time I shall improve just that little bit. Quite an adventure after 55 years of this, but it remains. Congratulations on feeling better and nice to see the integrity remains. Well done, thanks , Dane

You can make the count 6-1. I have built 3 eduard kits. The 1/48 BF-110C was a total mess but I overcame the them. The F6F-5 Hellcat was awesome. No issues. I had the exact same issues with the Zero. I bought the dual combo version. Built the first one and threw the rest in the trash. I have a P-51D kit unbuilt and it is not on my list to build anytime soon.

Hi Peter. Great video as always! Glad you've recovered.
I've heard so much about this Eduard Zero from both ends of the spectrum that I have decided to get it and see for myself.
I actually enjoy dodgy kits, I get quite bored if I get to the painting stage too quickly.

I guess everyone's experience is different, but to say that anyone not expressing the same concerns is wrong or lying is just...wrong. I don't think being positive about the kit makes one a "fanboy" - my build was the first Eduard build I had finished and it was an absolute delight. That doesn't make you wrong in my book - it just makes you of a different thought on the kit.

    Dear Mr O,
I am pleased that you have returned to better condition and that you remain so. On the subject of mistakes, I am inclined towards the view that they should be left in one's videos- no reasonable person would expect perfection, (at least not all the time).
Whilst I think about oleo legs on your Zero, I am reminded of an occasion when building a 1/48 Spitfire where I found the heightened possibility of getting them the wrong way around. I had to check several times. I can't imagine that no one else has got this sort of thing wrong before. They will do so in the future too.
Those who are vociferous in their denunciation of your error may have their priorities wrong.
BTW- I can only apologise for curating your ire as a result of building an Airfix TSR2. There may be no hope for me...
    Kind regards,

I built that kit as somewhat of a newbie. You pointing out the tail fins made me cringe because I used pllasti putty to fill in the gap with so so results. I also used the eduard decals. I pealed off what I could, but sometimes it’s not necessary with them. Mr. Mark setter can burn the carrier film off. You are spot on. I’m happy I built it and the plastic is amazing, but it has issues.

Hope that you are feeling much better Peter. I have not built any aircraft kit from Eduard yet, but have done so in 1/35 scale withe their military vehicles. I also constructed Eduard’s rather nice 1/32 Schwimmwagen some twenty years ago with pleasant results. As for poor fitting parts it is not uncommon for Dragon models to have poor fitting parts, and the need to use slithers of sprue plastic to fill gaps, holes and voids. This is fairly common but not always a problem on the hulls of their 1/35 Sherman tank family. Does anyone else have such problems with Dragon kits?
I have personally used Eduard etched metal in 1/35 and 1/48 scales for many years. I believe these etched metal accessory kits are some of the best in the business. You can use as many or as little of the parts you want to. It’s always your choice. They add an extra amount of realism and finish to models which cannot be obtained in plastic alone.
Please will people give Peter some courtesy when commenting on his videos. Be nice and polite, even when using critique. People are always respected and liked more when you are polite and respectful. As for the rivet counters and armchair experts, there are numerous books and academic sources for keeping them occupied. Anyone who can do better can pass on their expertise, experience and wisdom by making videos on UA-cam themselves.
Many thanks Peter for your informative and entertaining videos and comments.

I was watching one of your older episodes and didn't realise that you are a TSR-2 fan. I've got hold of an Airfix TSR2 via eBay which will be done when I restart my modelling. It will sport Australian camo and markings because the RAAF was intending to buy it, but they bought the F-111 instead. Big mistake by the RAAF as the TSR2 was clearly the superior aircraft in many respects. This was during the mid-1960s when Australia was attempting to build its own atomic weapons, but the bomb project was cancelled in 1971.

    watched all 47 minutes ( excellent video ) - I have to admit , I built a few Hasegawa Zeros ( 1/48 ) and I - also DIDN'T spot the mistake of the undercarriage legs , you did well over-coming that .
I remember that with my 2007 FW 190 Eduard - The locating holes for the main wheels are quite large. This is because the wheel fits to the axle at an angle. They had the instruction picture (page 10) to determine the exact angle of the wheel to the undercarriage leg. The fit and strength was excellent for the undercarriage .
I think the Zero instructions were a little less clear , for you , in your defence .
I once fitted the wrong under nose fuselage insert for the Fiat G.55 - ( one with nose guns ) . Mistakes are made in life , big PLUS point , you owned up to it
( and massively increased your integrity ) . I also realised your RANT about the Zero Propellor not being able to rotate ( kit part must be glued ) - is VALID .
My 1/48 Fw 190A-8/R2 ProfiPack edition Eduard | No. 8175 ( Mould 2007 ) had to have the Propellor be glued firmly onto the nose .
For my money , your other complaints , seem valid . On a different , cheery note , glad you have the DORA WINGS 1/72 kit . Looks nice !
I am waiting for the imminent release by Dora Wings of the 1/48 new tool WW2 French MS 406
anyway , as ever Lovely Video , I hope you are over the worst of your health issues . kind regards David

My WNW F2B is driving me mad, but all my fault! I didn't prime the fuselage, and painted it with a nice PC10 mix using Tamiya acrylics. You just have to look at it and it peels off! And the handling required for the rigging makes it worse... And then, I have snapped off two drills drilling through to rig the bottom wing. So these two wires will have to be "point" to "point". I was planning on drilling through the bottom wing to help with tensioning. By the way the wings have the best paint and decaling job that I have ever done, and these I did prime. Don't ask me about the white painting on my Anson in the "BoPP" RAAF markings.

I made a similar mistake on a kit recently, fortunately it's much less noticeable so I've opted to live with it rather than butcher 2 fragile pieces less than 3mm long trying to fix it. In my case purely a result of me dis-orienting myself while assembling two symmetrical sub-assemblies (horizontal stabilisers for a Do-17z). Totally my fault, can happen to anyone.
On the other hand, these people arguing that fitting and tolerance issues with a kit are a "skill issue" on behalf of the modeller must love airfix "classics" kits and Revell's 50 year old re-treads, as they provide ample opportunity to demonstrate their skills by rectifying a lazy manufacturer's shortcomings...

    - we are all fully entitled to have our opinions. Different viewpoints should be able to get along without acrimony. What is the point in someone being offended, to the point of insult, by another point of view, especially over something as non-life threatening as model kits?
    - some will correct a mistake, others might leave it as a poignant reminder and hopefully be able to look back with a wry smile, as Dick Emery's skinhead said 'I fink I got it wrong, Dad'
    - we all build kits with different levels of skill and expectation. Now, I mostly buy and build kits from the 1960/70s, most recently Frog, Airfix, LS, Revell, Heller and Hasegawa - what the shops had in stock back then. I prefer the old Airfix B-25 Mitchell to the new one. I like the old single page exploded diagram instructions which told you what every piece was! I like those old kits for what they were and their nostalgia value, when I spent ages looking in shop windows at all the kits I'd love to make. I understand others see this as sacrilege. Fine, that doesn't bother me. I was born in the 1950s and my parents were never thrilled about stuff that reminded them of a war they had lived through.
    - I have never built an Eduard kit (and your video has done nothing to persuade me I am missing something). In another 10 years, at most, I doubt I'll still have the faculties to build kits. Life is too short.

I fully agree with you. I hope I didn't come across as insisting others should do a correction as I did. I have no issue with people disagreeing with my views based on their own experiences, which I am happy to respect. However, when people decide to resort to ignorance, intollerance, insult and abuse, over something so trivial, they will get immediately cancelled on my channel.

Peter, I think you need to understand that you are a bond super villain and not an average modeler. You need to always focus on your patrons and not on the 10 percent that is idiotic. I think you need to build an airfix or gulp, a matchbox kit. Don't worry about the critics.

Peter, your presentations always seem to me extremely fair-maybe, to a fault, if that's even possible--because you go to lengths to explain the aspects of your opinions. Opinions based on fact are evidence.
What annoys me with internet comments is the common problem of unfiltered, reactionary responses, usually laced with rude & insulting sarcasm, seemingly as if the world is actually populated with rude trolls who view their behavior as some sort of badge of honor, setting matters aright.
This problem pervades UA-cam discussions, irrespective of topic, and I, for one, am glad there's a "delete" buton to deal with it.

I watched ALL your video and I HAVE TO SAY…. I build Armour kits and use an awful lot of Eduard PE sets for my Tiger 1’s and nearly… NEARLY every set I’ve got has different sprue’s in them even though they are all for initial Tigers 😳😳😳 I’ve had late sprue’s ohhhh I even got a set of seatbelts for an aircraft ( sorry can’t remember which one 😢😢😢 ) but I changed to Abber Models PE sets and what a difference TOTALY IN EVERY RESPECT 🤓🤓🤓 metal is nicer, bend points are easier to bend they have backing tape so when you cut the parts off they do NOT disappear into the oblivion 🤬🤬🤬 so I understand how you feel the only kit I have of Eduardo is there King Tiger late and I have to say I got it dirt cheap on eBay so wasn’t that bothered if it was rubbish but I’m happy to say it was a pleasure to build but I’ve just now lost total faith in them and not because of your misfortune but because of the mean people slagging you off 🥴🥴🥴 I don’t get/understand why people go to the extreme of just being RUDE there’s no need what so ever and good for you to delete them if they’ve nothing decent to say then say nothing 🙏🙏🙏
As to your Tamiya Mosquito problem I would strongly recommend getting a set of the 3D decals they are absolutely stunning I built up the Tamiya ones and they do look good but you have to be careful as if you look at them from the side you can see the plastic edge but that’s being Uber picky I have got the Eduard big sin guns set you get the exhaust and wheels and masks for the wheels but and this you’ll love the Tamiya wheel pins do not fit the Eduard hole is far to big 😁😁😁🤣🤣🤣 so I’m using the unique Tamiya wheels 😝😝😝 anyway… Eduard in my honest opinion are very hit or miss. You… trust is earnt and so is honour and I have the highest regard for you sir as you ALWAYS show your mistakes or cockups and you aren’t embarrassed to say sorry !!!
Best of luck with your Mosquito and it’s perfect fit 😍😍😍 oh and the only reason I got the big sin set is because the Tamiya ammo shoots are empty… don’t have any shells/bullets in them. And the actual gun details are just that bit better you also get a lot of decals for both gun bays 😊😊😊 I’ve also got two Thompson SMG with the drum magazines I’m going to put in mine as a bit of a giggle I know they’ed never carry them in real life but I think if people see them then I know they’ve had a good look around not a brief gaze 🙄🙄🙄 again wishing you all the best with your build and hopefully you’ll post a few updates on her 🙏🙏🙏🤞🤞🤞😆😆😆👍👍👍👍👍👍

Firstly congratulation on managing to to correct your Zero. It's commonly known that models of the Zero always had weak undercarriage fitting even with the original Airfix and frog 1/72 models of the late 50's. Personally I've know idea how you managed to correct it, but it's a testament to your skill that you were successful. So if anyone ever challengers your skill I'd say hold up your correction to the Zero's undercarriage as proof that you do have same proper model-making skill. Remember to err is human, and keep up the good work, rants and all.
