Just saw counting crows last night in Costa Mesa. Such an amazing performance. As a metal guy, they were never my thing, but when the song around here came out, it was the first song ever that hit me in the gut and made me feel something. I have no idea why but that song makes me cry everytime I here it, even 30 years later. Now my daughter is a big fan, so I'm eternally grateful that I was able to share this amazing experience with her last night.
I seen them 3 weeks ago badass ,and round here is the song that did it for Me too to see it live was dream come true and got my Granddaughter into they're music and her favorites is round here I'm proud She likes them too ,so I can relate
Counting Crows is still my favorite live show and my favorite band overall. For those who haven't checked them out in a couple decades, I highly recommend you search youtube for their Codfish Hallow Barn live performance.
My sister introduced me to Counting Crows when I was in middle school and I’ve been a huge fan ever since. We go to their concert every time they come through Nashville. I truly believe Adam is a lyrical genius. He creates lyrical masterpieces! By far my favorite band and has been for years and years! Fantastic interview!
Ditto Steve, I have seen Counting Crows a couple of times in Nashville (Ascend & Ryman) - great shows. I think Adam is the same league as Bob Dylan and Neal Young as far as lyrics go.
Counting Crows was my number 1 band for so long. Their music got me through some tough times growing up. I got to see them live a number of times and adored how they all jammed together. Adam is still a total babe decades later.
Incredible. I miss the counting crows and I’m going back into catalogue as a result of this interview. Sweet, authentic down to earth human and Lipps and he had amazing chemistry. He just let him go. Loved it !
Scott Lipps is a great interviewer. Even though Adam said he's kind of introverted, he felt so comfortable and was able to share everything in a very organic way and Scott talking over him didn't feel like interruptions but just fluent conversation. It's such a perfect interview because it doesn't seem like Scott knows him well but he knows him enough to be able to ask good questions and relate to him but not be so close that the audience feels like they're distant from them and isn't included in on the conversation. Just such great interview skills.
I learned the fundamentals of poetry writing by listening to August and Everything After, and Tori Amos' first three albums - Little Earthquakes, Under the Pink, and Boys for Pele. August and Everything After is one of the most poetic albums. In fact, this line from "Anna Begins" is the epigraph of my debut book Before the Big Bang Makes a Sound - "Oh," she says, "you're changing" / But we're always changing. A great nod to Heraclitus as well. Duritz is for sure a poet.
Met Adam early on at Merriweather Post, he gestured for me to get down so he could watch the opening band. It crushed me. Crushed. Still love the music ❤
He makes a great point about record labels there not bad or evil there very necessary you mean certain people are bad. But distribution and marketing isn't cheap or easy they get you discovered to many more people then you could ever do on your own. To put on a concert isn't cheap etc.
This one and his Rogan were interview has been his best. He went into his parents a little more on Rogan more personal stuff but this is still great. Dad was a doctor an so is his mom. She became one later

I wish Adam would write a book. He is never dull and I always learn something fascinating when listening to him. This is another stellar interview.
This is the best interview from Adam I've ever heard. Can't wait for the new record!
I agree! I’ve been following him since 1996!
Same here. I’d also like to here when and how he learned piano

I adore Adam!! I’ve loved him since I was 14… in 1992
Recovering The Satellites is one of the few Albums I can listen to start to finish, know every word and chord progression.
one of my favorites (Adam of CC) wearing one of my favorites (the 1975). Great interview--thanks!
Amazing interview!! ❤
Beautiful ep. You're one of the guys who asks the right Q's and gives space for the A's
I’ve always said that Adam sings the words to my diary ❤❤

Awesome interview. I never knew Adam went to UC Davis (I live in Davis!)

"It's not the place to discover that you're famous" is such a funny line 😂

Adam -Your song from MTV (Mr. Jones) was the first song to stick in my mind for multiple days. Seriously!

Scott, you said you never watched Shrek “growing up”….the first movie came out in ‘01 😂
I just noticed Adam is wearing a The 1975 tshirt!! So am I. Mine is The 1975 Ugh
You know, there was a time when selling 20+ million albums meant more than a little something…
Love this interview. Is it just me or does Scott kinda sound like Anthony Jeselnik?
He looks like Wolfman Jack.....a little.
Seen them last night at central park. Good band even though i don't like any of there songs lol. I can respect quality 👌
