  • #400 - Adam Duritz on The Untold Story of Counting Crows + How 'Accidentally In Love' Ended Up in 'Shrek 2' + How He Wrote "Mr. Jones" When he Almost Quit Music + How SNL Launched Their Fame To the Point of Getting Mobbed + How He Discovered He Was a Good Singer As A Kid
The lead singer of Counting Crows, Adam Duritz talked to Bobby about how he discovered he was a good singer and started a band at 13 but didn't write his first song until he was a freshman in college. He shared how songwriting took over his life so much that it affected his schoolwork and when he was one credit away from graduating college and didn't care to get his degree. He also talked about the years he spent struggling to make it in music that led him to go to Europe and quit for a little while. Adam also recalled what inspired their song "Mr. Jones" and how after they performed it on SNL their careers blew up and he started to get mobbed at places. Adam is very passionate about music and shared how he got asked to create a song for the 'Shrek' movie called "Accidentally In Love," and why he was so excited to have a song in an animated movie, and more!

Such an affable, humble and charismatic guy. Also one of the best and most underated songwriters of his generation.

One of my favorite bands of all time! Adam is one of the best lyricist....Im 47 and started listening to them when i was 19! They are so amazing live...saw them several times...Adam still sings exactly the same...his voice has not changed at all with age...He still sounds like he is 30 years old when he sings.... nothing but love for this band❤🌹

“ROUND HERE” is my Favorite song of all time. I am 46 and played that song in “94 for my english class and had to express what that song means to me and how it makes me feel? That song today still brings tears to my eyes and makes me feel exactly the same way as it did back then. THANK YOU for writing that song.

Operative word: resign. No, I am glad the resignation is gone from Adam's voice.@@TR-yi8up

You wear a sports teams merch to a game, why not wear a bands merch to their show?
