I met Julian in New York a couple months ago. He was alone and I was with my bandmates. We cautiously walked up to him to tell him what an inspiration he’s been to us. He was awesome. He gave us some advice and just talked to us like normal people. We were afraid he’d be distant or shoo us away but man was he great. I saw the strokes in Chicago with RHCP and it was a great show. Such a cool dude, I’ll never forget it.
I get your point, but if you had a dude you didn't know in front of you and you had to connect with him for an hour, you would probably mention your common connections with him to set the trust.
Seriously so bad man. Were friends! Yeah no you’re not. Friends would say hi at a restaurant. Interviewer really blew it. Reminds me of the old MTV VJ’s who thought they were as cool as the artists. lol
I haven't seen that many of his interviews but he doesn't do it as much other times, odds are that he was a bit more intimidated by Julian in general and just wanted to seem cooler.
Hey Julian, if you read this, I love you man. Such great work and I've followed your music since before "Is This It" released here since I was lucky enough that my older sis' bf introduced me to The Strokes. Your art has added so much to the world, and defines periods of my life and the 00s, 10s, and 20s, in the same way we define the 70s, 80s, and 90s through their music. So thank you from the bottom of my heart! Hope to see you live someday!
That is one creepy and disgusting demise. He's come up with nothing new or worthwhile for approximately one decade. He's so unhinged it's amazing what money can do. In another lifetime, the guy would be locked up in a mental institution, or wandering homeless. because of his mental illness Phenomenal what being born with rich, known parents, can afford someone
I've been really inspired by the Voidz and their ability to blend different music styles. It's a fresh, new-age approach that brings something truly unique and interesting compared to what's happening in mainstream rock today
The album seems to be more collaborative and less stressful on him than other projects. It's nice to see a band come together and make music from a place of passion and love of music. Definitely gonna listen to the album more. A few songs stood out when I listened the first time.
arguably the best rock n roll songwriter of all time...without a doubt the best crooner-swooner songwriter of all time...I believe songs like "Trying Your Luck" and "Under Control" have taken that style of singing/playing to it's highest bar of quality and have yet to topped...
Every song on the album is amazing. Even though it is a solemn album, it's also optimistic somehow. There's choruses and lyrics that are better than ever.
Yeah everyone needs to chill out. This guys name drops alot, fair. But Julian can come across very laconic in interviews and this guy may have made him feel a little more at home with the connections they have. Its a good interview and one of Julians more openly spoke in recent times .
I’m sad that Julian got cut off so much when he was starting to tell cool stores and personal experiences. I could care less about the interviewer’s personal experience with everyone that he asked Julian about. Julian was telling us about his experience with Rick Rubin and the interviewer cut him off to tell him about going to dinner with him and Anthony Keidis, like how is that relevant or important. This dude just needs to interview himself and get off on how cool he is with everyone he knows
Buddy. Scott. First time viewer here. Major fan of Julian's work but also a major Oasis fan- How did you know about the reunion? I am a proud hater on the internet but I'm labelling you as the real deal. You just gained a fan!
This is the second time I've heard him speaking "badly" about John Leyend or at least about his music. Julian has been very respectful of everyone for many years... he knows something about him that generated that antipathy that he had. He is not interested in hiding.
Rick Rubin is the greatest! He literally laughs at home every day, knowing that artists pay him money and never question his "genius." It's like... The Strokes and Voidz will do just fine whatever they do. But throw my nephew in the studio to tell you what feels right, and to you, feel like that made the ultimate choice. 👏👏 Get your Rick. Only a special type of artist deserves you, and vice-versa 😂.
Great interview, need to stop with top 5 lists that is lame. I don't blame him for trying to avoid - like he wants to tell everyone his favorite NYC spots are you serious
and then this one time, at band camp, I saw you eating potato leek soup and you spilled some on your chin and I was going to lick it off but I didn’t but I could’ve, I just woulda said I’m a friend of Albert’s

Goddamn Julian is lucky to be sitting there with a legend as big as this interviewer, guy is friends with everyone
lollllllllllll
😂😂
My god, this guy just goes on about how he knows all celebrities. It's exhausting.

Omg yes thank you yes I hate it lol
@@Baffboom I know. I was just having coffee with Flea from RHCP, and I was thinking the same.
take a shot every time the interviewer says Albert's a friend of his
I loved the part where the interviewer knew that guy!
I don’t know who Scott Lips is but he is the biggest name dropper of all time.
Always!!!
Now he's going to tell everybody his best friend is Julian casablancas.
Lol I would say he’s my buddy too
@@welhynole4082 yeah I probably would too
Why did you ignore your other guest Thom Yorke throughout the entire thing? He was just looking at you quietly the whole time.
Ha!

Heck yes this is my all time favorite band and person in almost the entire world, The new album rocks!!!
Scott is friends with everyone just ask him! lol
yeah, so cringe
You actually would not have to ask
@@fleetfarm8283 hahaha exactly
Dont ask..he'll just tell ya..
What if The Voidz toured with The Strokes and The Voidz opened up for The Strokes, and vice versa?
BRUUUUUUHHH BEST IDEA EVER 🙌
i believe julian would die from exhaustion

Julian can barely do vocals for a single show. You want him to do two??

“You kind of have a Kevin bacon vibe” would have sent me over the edge
What does he mean by that? I’m not sure I caught it

He does have a nice calm voice actually
41:50 Julian: talking about how we haven't ever had a democracy
Interviewer: do you believe in aliens?
so insane
“I’m actually friends with an alien, I think you may know him”
We ARE the aliens.
Trying to get your dad to like sushi is the most NYC thing I’ve heard all month…
Side note…20 years later and I’m still crushing… 🥰
Way too much namedropping from interviewer

You constantly bringing up people you know was so cringe
In his defense.. the show is called Lip Service..
Interviewer was a bit cringey the entire interview. Asking Julian multiple top five questions is so weak and boring.

Bad interviewers are part of why Julian is so annoyed. They just can't ask him interesting questions. Same shit over and over.

I met Julian once my senior year college- 2007. He was walking into the exit of best buy on 23rd St.
It was brief but very nice
jules is brilliant, just one of a kind

The way I covered my mouth in shock when he said he was alone for his birthday naaaur why did this man air him out like that 💀

I will forever love this man.
Profile name… 🤭
When Julian goes into his evil villain voice at 4:50

So much name dropping...
Oh man. He’s such a nerd. I love it. Interviews are such a strange experience. It’s cool to see him be weird and himself a little bit.

Ah man he can’t read the vibe, the most meh interview. Go check out the interview that Matt Wilkinson did with Julian, it’s a lot better.
do you mean Matt Pinfield??
The interviewer knows everyone in the comments section.

Banger interview thanks 🫡
" British interactions" 😂
A rare Julian interview nice 😎

Very thankful for this
I wish he would put this energy into The Strokes.
Thom Yorke and Liam Gallagher? 🤣
