I am Canadian and I am so embarrassed by the state of our railway system. I live in Calgary and have often wanted to take the Canadian Express across the country, but refuse to pay the riduculous price for such poor accomodations. This is why I love to watch your videos. Japan has a far better system then those here in North America and certainly Canada. However, I am so glad you decided to come to Canada. We have such a beautiful country and I am proud to say that I live here. Thanks for sharing. ❤
Im from Lethbridge and i feel you. If we had a system from edmonton to calgary to leth, it would be so popular.
@@TheShawndaLee Ask your conservatives to stop wasting money and build it.

He is NOT on Canada’s greatest sleeper train!!! He’s on the budget train. ua-cam.com/video/WzHAGQhLfG8/v-deo.html
I was calculating the price of The Canadian trip ticket and if we compare it with the first class room of the Sunrise Express in Japan they are quite similar (It should also be added that in the sleeper class of The Canadian it includes meals, while in the Sunrise Express it does not ) In addition, the distance of the trip is four times longer than the trips through Japan.
What if I agree with you is the poor infrastructure that exists for passenger train travel in Canada, unlike in Japan (Well, that also happens in the US and other countries in America)
The beautiful scenery, the 'silence' of the journey and of course, the sense of humor on the subtitles section is everything. Thanks.
Anyone can make a silent travel video but you have a special flair for actually making it extremely interesting and entertaining. Your sense of humor is such a breath of fresh air on these types of videos. It’s a stark contrast the upper class railway system in Japan versus Canada and probably the US as well. I was excited to see that you are traveling to other parts of the world to do train travel, it was very interesting can’t wait to watch part two. Bon Apple tea❤
However, I am so glad you decided to come to Canada.
I'm gonna say this, you have the best humor compared to other solo travel channel. Jokes are well delivered, your play on words and quirkiness is very entertaining. I don't think I could enjoy the video as much without your sassy captions.
Let's not pit two bad b*tches against each other, they're both great in different ways. This channel has more zillenial humor and pricier outings and the other channel focuses on more affordable trips and has fun food jokes. They both have different styles of filming. They're both great content creators!
@@Luckdragon Yep, I like them both, and both are funny in their own ways.
yup, you can see it reflects on the different amount of their subscribers
@@Luckdragon Absolutely agree with you. Saying one is better than the other all depends on who you ask. I subscribe to both and even a third channel. They sometimes cover very similar itineraries and enjoy the differing insights they share. But to say one is 'better' than the other reminds me of rival KPop fandoms lol.

Hello! Let me translate your videos into Russian and publish on my channel? So that Russian-speaking people can watch you?
we invite you to Poland
I miss Second Cup and Tim Hortons! come to Japan !
It's marvellous that you don't have any music or voice comments recorded over the sounds. Makes it feel so real! As if we're there with you.
I'm Canadian and I'm dying with laughter! 😂 Our lovely Grandma train~ It is great to see a visitor's experience in Canada and noticing cultural differences. Love the commentary, so funny! 👍
I hope we never have modern high speed trains. I want our nation to stay the way it was always and forever.
Long live the Grandma train!

You're supposed to sleep in front of the shitter 3:04 for $2000?
SST-san's slow descent into madness over the course of this video has me gleefully anticipating the next upload.
This is the first time I see cringe comedy on this channel, and Solo Solo-san is a champion at it.
Seeing the absolute shock of North American Rail Travel land on someone communicated solely through text has never brought me so much joy
Having travelled on The Canadian in the opposite direction, over three decades ago - Vancouver to Toronto - it is such a joy to view your coverage of the trip! I know it's not the degree of sophistication and refinement you've come to expect in Japan, but you handle it with such good grace and humour. I travelled Economy back then, and it may have played a part in ruining my back, but having watched this, I must try it again in the sleeper!

Thank you for sharing our humble yet majestic home! The Great Plains are my territory, it’s nice to see them through a different lens.
For Japanese and South Korean this train is like awkwardness journey but only for who doesn't like to communicate. As a Indian it's a heaven train as we love chit chatting with co-passengers on literally any topic.
Nah, bro. I took a train last time I came to India. The ppl on the train were telling me to not sit at a certain spot otherwise I will get thrown by the person who usually sits there. I still sat there bc there was no other place. It was my first train ride in India and probably my last. Also, ppl aren't always fond of chit-chatting. Most ppl were on their phones listening to music or something else. Not the ppl in Mumbai at least. I took a train from Bombay to Gujarat.
Like woo-woo Indian or the target head Indian?
i do not relate to this personally, i think everyone has their own opinions about this chitchat thing as a lot of people doesn't want to communicate (introverts basically). we just love our personal spaces more :>

I was laughing through most of the video🤣 it’s hard to beat the Japanese train standards in terms of cleanliness, comfort and privacy. Must have been an eye opening experience for u. For me, it’s hard sharing table with strangers but I tried to focus on the food, it helps. Looking fwd to ur next video!
Are u laughing ?Only u can be laughed at here lol 😆 😂 🤣 This is not Japan. This is a wonderful train in the most beautiful country of Canada 🇨🇦 .Bad with geography? That's why u laugh all the time 😆 🤣 😂
Lol! Yeah, my Japanese friend finds things a bit weird here. He's a good guy nine the less!
@@igortoronto4551 He knows this is not Japan. He only says that Japan is hard to beat in some standards, but doesnt say that this train is in Japan.
@@igortoronto4551 dude i hate to break it to you but japan is superior to us in every way when it comes to good quality trains and privacy, here in the us i believe we dont even have trains that do this nor buses so i dont know what your talking bout
Well, come on! I prefer the Canadian train. On a Japanese train, you pee on yourself until you reach the toilet. And the food... you end up brushing only one tooth, because you don't need to brush all of them. Canadian soup is 1000 times better than Japanese fish soup, which tastes like dishwashing liquid. Not to mention the dimensions of a cabin in a Japanese train. It's for Lilliputians. Everything is done economically, not to be comfortable for people.
I have taken the VIA trains from Halifax NS on the east coast all the way to Vancouver on the west coast. We did the Prestige class from Toronto to Vancouver. Your video tells a true story of the experience, although I do not remember our train having any bingo games or Yoga exercises. Since Prestige class includes all your alcoholic drinks in your ticket price, I did manage to drink the 10 cocktails you must try before you die. As I am not normally a drinker it was quite an experience. I love your humerous little comments that you make throughout the video. Well done sir.

Please do make more train videos in different nations. Absolutely loving your style and subtle humor!

I forgot to add that I sure hope we see more of this trip from you, proud Canadians enjoy their country being shown in its best light and your videography and sense of humour do it justice.
This was so entertaining and funny lol. I always see this train pass on the railway near my house. Never really bothered to check what it's interiors looks like but knew it was ridiculously expensive. Kind of a let down but expected. I would not want to take this train cause I am such a fussy person about cleaniness and just the price is way too much for me.
Thanks, I’ve been dreaming about this trip for years!
Another brilliant production my friend :) - this one is on my list, after recently trying The Ocean which I feel is an appetiser to this. Can't wait for part 2
Ultimate train travel crossover!
@@raihaan1819 Trendy goes to Japan, Solo comes to Canada
Truly an epic anime crossover
Hi!
You guys have to do a crossover. It would be legendary.
Oh man, the crossover we all need!
I'm Canadian too from Montreal and I've dreamed of taking that long train journey. Although it's a bit pricey, I think it's a unique experience. Loved the video 💜
I'm in Mtl too and I would LOVE to do this trip. Everyone here acting like it looks awful or sth, I think it looks wonderful and fun and so cool.
truly beautiful scenery, and i loved your humor about it all lol
This train experience might have seemed nicer in the seventies but I just found my nose wrinkling up at this. Not just the decor and furniture but the food, euch!!!
I bet SST agrees. His mannerisms were legit the [silently judging you] meme.
The food???
Unfortunately, U.S. and Canadian passenger trains are not kept up like Japanese passenger trains. I am glad to see you get to travel outside Japan for an extended train ride. Many passenger trains in the U.S. and Canada share the rails with freight trains, so there are many delays.
Sorry, you didn't do well in BINGO.
Also, the decision to have your loo on the sleeping compartment sort of unobstructed is a weird choice but eh
On the one hand I appreciate the idea of a toilet you don’t have to walk down the corridor to use in the middle of the night. On the other hand it is stuck under the bed so the time when you probably really don’t want to traverse the train in robe & slippers it isn’t easily accessible. 🤔
Well there was also the one outside the compartment as well, opposite the shower wasn't there? I feel like I would use the one not in the compartment mostly. Mainly because without any form of other entertainment (TV or otherwise) in the compartment I would probably never put the bed away and would instead spend my days in the observation lounge.
@@psozak408 Indeed. A bathroom like the one in the room that was highest quality (was that deluxe or something?) with it's own separate area without leaving the compartment would be ideal but comes with the higher price. I too would just keep the bed down and spend my days elsewhere.
Can't wait for the next instalment! These are probably the best travel videos I've found, in large part b/c SST is so entertaining. I want to travel with him!
@@sunnyside5225 that price was more than higher 8000 something dollars for that compartmet , no thank you very much

it's so cool seeing you branch out to other countries! real excited to see what other places you'll be visiting in the future!
After this experience, it might be the last time he rides a train outside of Japan!!!
Looks pretty luxurious compared to some countries where you go to the bathroom thru a hole that goes right onto the tracks
I'm immunocompromised and have been stuck in my house since February 2020 because of the pandemic. Your videos have been a huge help in allowing me to experience second-hand all of the little quirks of traveling, and remember the things I miss about trains in particular. Thanks for making these, your attention to every seemingly mundane detail, and your wry sense of humor - they've been a lifesaver.
Random aside, but if you were to do a US Amtrak trip, for some reason nothing tastes better on a train than the kosher hot dogs
Canada is an absolute beautiful country. Such beautiful views. Although, I enjoy watching your Japan videos. Such breathe taking scenery. ❤
wow! so beautiful ! Thanks for showing the beautiful Canada 👍. Nice presentation ❤
Waaaaaw this feels like a surprise! 👏 Feel so brand new to see a sleeper train outside Japan. Can't wait for the 2nd part! 😍

As a Canadian, I welcome you on your epic adventure! I can not believe you went right past my town probably.
The train looked so old compared with Japan' ultra modern fleet, but I must say, you captured Canada, perfectly.

I’m so excited for this channel to grow. I’m a train fan and I’m hoping for you to trip around the world 😍❤️❤️❤️
This was so interesting and so worth watching for Canada's greatest show. The Rockies and the sunrise and sets were just beautiful. Definitely on my bucket list!!
Welcome to Canada! Thank you for sharing. Yes these trains are trinkets of the past, but still one unique experience. You have a great sense of humor; your comments made me laugh multiple times. I truly enjoyed watching.
Love the videos mate as they are very relaxing and entertaining to see the world from an adventurous standpoint keep up the great work
Oh gosh I had commented on your train video before, not knowing that you have already been on this train trip!!!! It is slow but beautiful...my friend moved (with his 2 cats even!!!) on this train from Toronto to Vancouver...what an adventure! I agree with the other comments, this train compared to Japanese standards is embarrassing. Thank you for your wonderful videos!
Oh my gosh- I watch train videos from all over the world, and when I first saw this one, I figured it was another vlogger who travels in Canada often. I completely love your reactions to the whole experience so far! I laughed SO hard when you showed the toilet next to the seat and literally under the bed. If your stomach is having a bad day... good luck. Looking forward for part 2!
the toilet in the room was….interesting lol but it’s so cool to see you traveling even FURTHER!

Thank you for this. My friend and I are considering a July organized train ride from Vancouver to Banff and Jasper so this was quite helpful to see what it is like inside the train. The tour does mention sleeper plus cars.
As a Canadian I couldn't help but chuckle at the commentary. I love watching your videos and it's nice to see you trying out a local train. I rode on it from Winnipeg to Toronto once in the economy section and I can say it gets quite full and is not comfortable spending 2 days in those seats. Lol
i never expected a video from outside of japan truly the search for the s class tier toilet will take us on a world tour

this was absolutely outstanding the the views from the windows at the top and the food looked so tasty and also what I love doing they most is describing it all to my mum who is partially blind and struggles to see things it makes her day when I tell her all about your videos and the views and if I show her she has to have the screen right close to her eyes to see

I first rode VIA Rail going from Vancouver to Toronto in 2004. Thanks for posting these videos, I liked seeing what has changed. My jaw dropped at the price of the prestige class @ 12:30! They didn't have then when I went!
I was bored in.. Haha

Some notes about the cars on the Canadian:
These cars are old - many in their 60s some even 70 years old - and built by the Budd Company of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, a company which went out of business by the mid-1980s. Most are inherited by VIA from the two Canadian railroads - Canadian Pacific and Canadian National- while some were acquired secondhand from American railroads as they abandoned passenger operations in the 1970s.
And then there's the dome cars. A common feature of American and Canadian passenger operations in the 1950s and 1960s, these were designed to give passengers a panoramic view of the route, especially as it passes the big national parks along the route. On the Canadian (this originally was the old flagship train of the Canadian Pacific Railway; its Canadian National Railways counterpart is the Confederation Limited), this would have passed through Banff and Jasper National Parks.
I can’t wait for part 2! I love your videos and the descriptions are very funny 😁
