Hahaha! Who can keep it all straight!...Power Turquoise, Turquoise Lake, Lake Blue!...YIKES! I chuckled at myself and my thought process when I was watching you mix up the name again. I thought, if it were me, I would find a trick to remember, so I thought, hmmm?...maybe, Turqy Lake! Then I thought, sounds like Turkey Leg! Of COURSE, I would think that since we are commercial TURKEY FARMERS! SHUT UP my brain and keep watching Lisa! Bahahaha! WONDERFUL kiln opening as usual. 🦃
You’re too funny. I was also trying to think of a way to keep the colors straight and I thought maybe using the first letter of each word but some would be the same!! I didn’t know you were turkey farmers! Very cool. Growing up my dad was a chicken farmer pretty small scale of several hundred birds but sure seemed like a lot to me since I was so little. Have an awesome day.
Gawd!! I cannot keep that glaze straight. I actually teach at our local community college and have about 80 students per year. I work really hard on remembering their names. Every once in a while, I get stuck on calling a student the wrong name - lordy! Thankfully they usually see the humor in it. Turkey farmer - wow. So interesting to hear a little bit about people's stories.
@@finklepottery704 8o students per year?...I think you can cut yourself a break in remembering all the names all the time! Can I ask, what do you teach? Is it pottery or something completely different? Just curious 🤔
Hey Lisa oh those overglaze decals are so pretty! Could you do lustre pieces in the same load? I need to play more w turquoises n pinks gorgeous!! Wish I could get coyote glazes! Beautiful unload again xx
Hey Nat, I have not tried that, but if it were me I would definitely give it a shot. I might put the lustre pieces on a different shelf than the overglaze decals, and make sure they all have the same recommended temperature. I know you can put lustre over the decals, but you have to do it in two firings. Jessica Putnam Phillips did a very informative video on overglaze decals not too long ago.
Lisa, those overglaze mugs are fab! And yes, I know what you mean about the many kiln unloads. I am in the same boat right now. Those pendants are cute too. Love watching your openings. Cheers
Wow Lisa the decals add soo much to the pieces!! I absolutely love them! I have a ton of the vintage decals that I need to use but of course I took a look at the expression decals and I couldn’t believe how many choices they have!!! I love the florals soo much!! Absolutely love your glaze combos and my gosh the 4 dimple mugs are a great idea!!! I was glazing a few days ago to make some pieces to put decals on. Unfortunately I forgot why I was doing them and put the darker colors down too far! I’m so used to doing them a certain way I just did them the same. I got my new mayco glaze kit today with some engobes!! I’m beyond excited to try them! Have an awesome day!!
Hi Lisa, another great kiln opening! Some amazing combos! Too many to choose a favourite. All the over glaze decals are gorgeous too, please don't encourage me buy more pottery supplies to try 😅 Love your noodle bowl shape. You get pwer turquoise so nice, I need to work on that one 😊
@@finklepottery704GOOD IDEA! Haha. I did try to find lake blue when you first showed it but then you massaged me and let me know. lol. Isn’t it crazy how you get something in your head and you just can’t undo it!
I won't! lol. I just videoed my last unload before the sale, and I still stumbled over that glaze name lol. Next time I'm just going to have the jar there and hold it up!
You crack me up. But honestly, do you go by memory when you😊 introduce your colors. If you do you probably will never succumb to Alzheimers given your accurate recall at present Ha ha you’re doing so well.I forget 10 minutes after I put the glaze on.Thanks for sharing everything I love your colors. I am a bit of a pastel freak, Also the wonderful, bright colours they have now, I love turquoise What the hell, I love them all Oh my goodness, I had my husband make some shelves for me specifically for my glazes That was a dumb move because he could see my full stash I told him that I probably don’t need anymore for a while but that was a lie. I still have a list of mile long. Such is life anyway, thanks again for sharing. It really is exciting seeing your kiln unload. Take care from one end of Canada (British Columbia) to the other. Marcia
Hey Marcia, you are a hoot! Honestly, if I didn’t glaze right before firing I’d never remember lol. I mostly go by memory but it helps when you get really familiar with the look of certain glazes. Thanks for your comments! I too had my husband build me glaze shelves and I scared myself 😂 at least I can see what I have now.
Hi Lisa, what a beautiful kiln opening! Love your pink cloud mugs! I used flux blossom ( 2 coats on its own) on a bowl speckled clay. After firing there are some clear not peachy pink spots on the outside of the bowl where the glaze meets the clay. Do you think I can refire it? Are will it run a lot? Don't know what to do. I really wanted it an even peachy color.
Hmmm I’m not sure. I personally would just reapply a coat or two and refire, but I’m not always as thoughtful as I should be. I would perhaps post the question on the Amaco site?
Hi Susan, I take it right to the bottom. I haven't had any problems yet. To be honest I usually have more problems with winterwood running when I pair it with flux at the top.

@micheledickey4066 We have 9,000 each flock, but you are right, 100's of birds when you are little seems like thousands. 😅

I know it is such a funny art form. A lot of work, but you really don't see how the finish product might look until the end.

Great kiln Lisa, your temp explanation on decals was perfect imho. Thank you
Oh good! I was worried I might have been confusing on that.
Love the twilight/night moth bowl.
Thanks!
Really lovely combinations of glazes, appliqués , and decals.
Thank you!!
I am not a purple girl, but, that purple haze/sangria combo, WOW!
It turned out pretty yummy 😋
You Crack me up with your turquoise lake, lol
I know!!!! Crazy!!! I wonder how many potters have been trying to order lake blue lol. I think I should just start every video with a disclaimer lol.

Everything's so beautiful! I would love to know what you used for glazes on the mug with the fox and stars. It's the perfect night sky! 🙂
Thank you. The sky is two coats of obsidian, one coat of blue hydrangea and dabs of seaweed

Do you take the Honey flux and birch right to the top or just on the bottom 2/3rds with the Autumn Purple (or other colour glaze) on the top band?

Have you ever used the PSH True Colors Clear? What did you think?
I have not tried it. Let me know if you do :) I've been brushing mixing clear and I have a bucket of my studio dipping clear.
@finklepottery704 I have used the brush on to cone 5 and it's nice and clear and even.
Why don't you link the items used and get commission on the sales? Easier for us to find it and you makes some $$
Great suggestion Sally. In the meantime if you’d like a link for something just let me know 😊
