These turned out beautifully Lisa! I love that they are whimsical! ❤
You’re correct about not dishwasher or microwave safe. I have tested a piece I’ve made with gold luster for a few years of normal use and put it through the dishwasher and the gold has disappeared completely.

I think your mugs are stunning. I love your kiln openings. Thanks for showing us how to do over glaze decals. I have only used underglaze ones so far. You have given me the inspiration to have a go.

Hey this is the first time I have seen you not out in the cold by your kiln! Just started the video and I already love and want those decals!

They have a huge selection! It is storming here right now but hopefully we will see spring weather soon and outdoor kiln openings will happen again!

Beautiful Lisa! The story that goes along with each mug is so special. Will you include them with the mugs? These look like so much fun! 💜

Wow! These turned out really beautifully!! I love the little touches of gold! Absolutely love the little stories and your glaze choices with each decal!! I used to use decals in so much of my work but I just kind of forgot about them I guess. You have definitely inspired me to get them out and use some. One thing I would suggest if you don’t mind is that you clean the surface where the decal is going with alcohol or witch hazel to get any oil from your hands off as well as anything else that might get on there.

Did you apply a glaze over the animals before firing, and then again over the stars and moons? If so, what glaze? I adore the fox and hare mugs! The colors and decals mesh wonderfully together!

@@annritzlock7373 thank you. No the decals are the final process. First glaze your piece and fire the way you want it. Then apply and fire decals according to instructions. Then you are done! Good luck

Hi Lisa, Not sure if you will see this question considering this is older footage but will give it a try anyways. (Fellow Canadian here btw, in Langley, British Columbia). Coincidentally, I have had a number of Xpression Decals in my Etsy cart for quite some time now and was just back in there today to finalize my selections. I was looking to see if I could find someone who had some experience working with this particular brand of over glaze decals and I found myself here on your YT channel. I am trying to decide on appropriate sizes for mugs and small dishes. What sizes were you using in this series?

Hi Lisa. I can’t say how much I love your ideas, combinations and tutorials. I have a question though. I used the cute bear and deer color over glaze decals recently. Adhered to already bisque and glaze fired to cone 5 cups. I then fired them after applying to I believe cone 018. The decals came out fine but feel rough and I can see the outline of the clear around each piece. Since I only had 3 cups to try I didn’t want to fire the whole kiln so I checked the schedule for cone 018 on my Bartlett controller and input that schedule into my small Orton kiln which reaches temps higher than the 1319 needed for this cone. I don’t know if that’s the reason for the rough finish or not. Or maybe I should go a little hotter to cone 017 - 1360.
Sorry for the long story but I was hoping you might have some input.
    Thanks a bunch,
    Cathy

Hi Cathy. Is the glaze underneath the decals shiny? If so, it might need to go a little hotter. You could also reach out to Sanbao to see if they have any advice.

    • @roosterhollow4205

Thank you. I’ll try going hotter. If this works then I know I can fire a few at a time in the Orton instead of waiting for a whole kiln load.
Thank you so much. Looking forward to more great videos and trying some of your combos!

Lisa, are the dragonflies and horses you used here the 2" size? Thank you!
