Star Trek is an American science fiction media franchise originating from the 1960s television series Star Trek, created by Gene Roddenberry. That series, now often known as "The Original Series", debuted on September 8, 1966, and aired for three seasons on NBC. It followed the voyages of the starship USS Enterprise, a space exploration vessel built by the United Federation of Planets in the 23rd century, on a mission "to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no man has gone before". In creating Star Trek, Roddenberry was inspired by C. S. Forester's Horatio Hornblower series of novels, Jonathan Swift's 1726 novel Gulliver's Travels, the 1956 film Forbidden Planet, and television westerns such as Wagon Train.
The Star Trek canon includes the Original Series, nine spin-off television series, and a film franchise; further adaptations also exist in several media. After the conclusion of the Original Series, the adventures of its characters continued in the 22-episode Star Trek: The Animated Series and six feature films. A television revival beginning in the 1980s saw three sequel series and a prequel: Star Trek: The Next Generation, following the crew of a new starship Enterprise a century after the original series; Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Star Trek: Voyager, set in the same era as the Next Generation; and Enterprise, set before the original series in the early days of human interstellar travel. The adventures of the Next Generation crew continued in four additional feature films. In 2009, the film franchise underwent a reboot, creating an alternate continuity known as the Kelvin timeline; three films have been set in this continuity. Star Trek has been a cult phenomenon for decades.[4] Fans of the franchise are called "Trekkies" or "Trekkers". The franchise spans a wide range of spin-offs including games, figurines, novels, toys, and comics. From 1998 to 2008, there was a Star Trek-themed attraction in Las Vegas. At least two museum exhibits of props travel the world. The constructed language Klingon was created for the franchise. Several parodies have been made of Star Trek. In addition, viewers have produced several fan productions. Star Trek is noted for its cultural influence beyond works of science fiction.[6] The franchise is also noted for its progressive civil rights stances.
The show is set in the Milky Way galaxy, circa 2266-69. The ship and crew are led by Captain James T. Kirk (William Shatner), First Officer and Science Officer Spock (Leonard Nimoy), and Chief Medical Officer Leonard H. "Bones" McCoy (DeForest Kelley). Shatner's voice-over introduction during each episode's opening credits stated the starship's purpose:

This is truly awesome model, I discovered this channel recently & watched a few episodes it’s amazing what modellers can do. I can’t build models to save my life I wish I could, I build some Lego or Megablocks it my version of modelling.
I have the TOS Megablocks Enterprise it’s on of my favourites if they made a Enterprise Refit version I’d buy that to but no sign yet, if the people who made this model did the Refit Enterprise version someday I’d definitely have to buy it…

a realy beautiful model, no complaints at all with it, it looks fantastic and the fact that it comes perfectly painted, stable and easy to assemble makes it very attractive for any Trekkie that wants a Enty to display somewhere but doesnt have the skill or time to paint it themself. nice! thx for showing ^^

An amazing pre-painted. Would of been a plus if it was a light kit in one. This is the perfect NCC-1701 to be built as a lighted model. Love the paint details on this model.

Actually, the saucer is the Primary Hull. The Part with the "Horseneck" and shuttle bay is the Secondary Hull.

I bought a two-pack of these. One for display and one for keeping sealed. I set mine up on top of some cabinets in a room with about thirteen foot ceilings and it just looks majestic sitting up there lit from below. I absolutely LOVE this model and admire it every single day. I consider it money VERY well spent!

It's almost exactly the same size as the original proof-of-concept maquette, which was used as a filming model in "The Cage;" it can also be seen on Flint's table in "Requiem for Methuselah," and in the "Whoosh" flybys in the Original Series opening titles.

Interesting to note the frame numbers marked along the side - sailors refer to them in regards to their location on a vessel (or 'wessel')

My wallet wept at the sight of this but I have to consider getting one since I don't have the time or skill to create a model like that myself. It seems to assemble in the same way the original studio model did. Hope they do the refit next and they really should make these to include an option for lighting if you're gonna drop $500 on it

It's a handsome model for sure, with some nice detailing that reminds me of the original filming model after its restoration by the Smithsonian. However, it's extremely expensive for an unlit, snap-together model kit. I personally couldn't justify the cost of this, but it is indeed a beautiful model of the original, classic Enterprise.

What's up with the left side racing stripe on the secondary hull? There's a squiggle in it... the center strip even seems to bend upward overall...
i bought a less expensive lighting set, every light needed but its like Radio Shack puked in a bag... i havent soldered in forever....
That lighting kit retails for over $200! And the Enterprise is selling on eBay for $600 plus shipping...Yikes!!!
It's a shame that it has to be this expensive. As well the lighting kit too.☹
My only quibble with it is that they should have painted all the windows black, instead of some white (as if they were lit) and some black. Since the model isn't lighted, it would have looked better with all the windows the same.

Nice model....just wish they could have toned down the "weathering" a heck of a lot more to where it's not so noticeable or overwhelming compared to the rest of the model, but still not bad.

Adam Savage explained the streaks in his 2022 YT video about the Smithsonian's original 11-foot model. It has the same 'weathering' streaks in the same locations as this model. Adam explained that it makes the model 'pop' on low-res TV screens. The streaks smear and mostly disappear on TV while subtly giving the model heft and scale.
@@gideonsiete1868I would prefer to have a non-weathered version since there isn’t any weather in space. It reminds me of all the weathering on the Millennium Falcon besides battle damage that doesn’t make any sense.

If anyone knows the price please post it. I did see the lighting kit, for the actual assembly model, it's $213.00.

It's a great display model...but it doesn't light up. That's my only complaint about it. I wanted to see you use the lighting/engine fans kit.
