    Boyd this is perfect! After 30 years I am finally retired and have the time to get back into modeling. Needless to say I have spent the last few months ordering and stocking up on all the Mobeus, Polar Lights and Round 2 Kits I've been drooling over all these years. I've even been ordering all the bells and whistles Photo etch and Lighting kits to go with them. And of course one of the first kits I ordered was the 1/350 50th TOS Enterprise.. Anyway I decided to go with the Tenacontrols none motorized bussard lights and I'm hoping in this series you'll go more indef on installing it, and how to wire in the window lights to the same power source if possible. There was also an earlier video where you used that particular bussard lighting kit and it looked like you painted the inside of the domes with a solid looking copper color, Yet when you turned on the lights the bussard effect showed thru perfectly. I want to recreate the same look.... Sincerly; J.D. Douglas

    It would be super cool if you could make a series about building a 1/350 K'Tinga from the motion picture and modify it into a D7 from TOS. I know there's a resin kit for that, but the K'Tinga polarlights is a more accessible model to find (internationally).
    I think it would be super cool for everybody who have a TOS 1/350 and want to build the natural nemesis of the ship.

    Great instructional video...as always, Boyd! One question...before, you used diluted acetone to clean the saucer halves before gluing (or, at least you did on your last refit video). Did something happen to change your mind on doing this?

    • @TrekWorks
      @TrekWorks  3 роки тому +1

      On the Refit there I used the acetone because I was smoothing out the putty I had put over the joints on the saucer edges. It works better than sanding and losing the detail of the sensor band ridges. Here on the TOS saucer I'm just scraping off the paint so the glue gets a good bond.

    Dumb question from a long time but ultimately still ignorant modeler. Why not clean up and paint both halves of the saucer before doing all this then you'd avoid all masking? I get you'd have to do some additional painting when you fill and fix the seam, but I would think masking everything but the seam would be easier than masking all those little windows.
    Either way, super helpful and I'm starting on mine in a few weeks. The lighting kit is a bit rich for my blood so I'm doing a simpler one with an arduino kit on my own.

    Let me preface by saying that I love your work and your dedication, and you have been a huge inspiration to me. I mean absolutely no disrespect, but I have heard you describe the difference between series and parallel incorrectly one too many times. Your LED strips are always wired in parallel, always - even when you daisy-chain them. Series means + to -, + to -, + to -. You always hook + to + to + and - to - to -, so it is technically still parallel, even when daisy-chained. The method of wiring everything off of a bus instead of daisy chaining absolutely does help for not losing everything if one strip goes bad, but your wiring has always been parallel. Ok - I'm done. Love you, man.
