- On Friday 22nd April 2016, the Royal Regiment of Scotland celebrated 10 years by marching from Edinburgh Castle to Canongate Kirk doon The Royal Mile.
The 2 Scots Pipes & Drums (The Royal Highland Fusiliers) combined with The Royal Regiment of Scotland Band to lead the parade.
There is a pride in every nation but nothing quite compares to the swagger of a Scot wearing the kilt and marching to the pipes and drums!
Best Regards from India !!
I'm a Dutch, not a Scot, so great knowledge of the tartans etc. But grew up in my home town with bagpipes from the various Scottish immigrants in the town who paraded together for the annual Anzac Day march. Hence therefore a total appreciation for the bagpipes. Your capture of these events are truly enjoyable. Thank you for posting and please keep them coming.
Fantastic! Admirable! Many regards from Berlin
I enjoyed your video. My wife and I visited Scotland last year, from Canada and spent 5 days in Edinburgh. In fact, as the Royal Regiment marched down the Royal Mile, I was trying to remember which souvenirs we had bought from which shop. Which was rather difficult, considering all the drinking establishments we also stopped in at along the way! Thanks for the refreshing memory of a great vacation and terrific hospitality.

Cheers to our Argentinian buddies 1978 will never be forgotten!
1978? Can you explain me?
That was the year that the Scotland football team got to participate in the World Cup Finals in Argentina! Sadly we no longer are good enough to reach the finals of the world cup, or the european championship
I understand, sir! You have to have faith, your moment will come! British football is my favorite! A friend hug!

I was eating to see one of them do the Stan Laurel step from Bonnie Scotland lol.
Thank you for filming and posting this! They are magnificent! I had a great great uncle, Rob Phibbs, in the Black Watch. Don't know much about him, which is a shame.
Awesome, If they don't touch your soul . . . .

Well Done R R S, very good display.
excellent video..
Unglaublich, hervorragend
Oh btw, from what I gathered, the Pipes and Drum and the 2 companies are from the 2nd (Royal Highland Fusiliers) Battalion
Also, to add.. Nothing quite like hearing the woodwinds section of a band playing Highland Laddie..
I agree after being at a few of the 2 Scots Homecoming parades and having spoken and got my photo taken with the Drum Major that this is indeed 2 Scots P&D with The Royal Regiment of Scotland Band
C'est le jour de mon Anniversaire !!!!
Scotland The Brave!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love Scotland
marches

P.S. THE TWO TUNES -- AS THEY MARCH PAST THE CROSSROADS / BLACK WATCH.
One of the best recorded march on YT
I enjoyed every note of this Royal Regiment of Scotland! Please...someone tell me about the four-legged creature in the back of the band!
Hi Kathleen. Funny that you should ask about this as there was a programme repeated on ITV last week about the Queen at 90. She likes horses, especially this wee guy, who featured in the programme. He is the mascot of the Royal regiment and his name is Cruachan 4th. The guy who looks after him, I got speaking to after the parade and spoke about this programme to him Cruachan is seen getting a can of Tennents Lager but the guy said he prefers Guinness but none was available. You should check the program out on ITV Player.

Was it Cruachan IV? Idks
MainScotsboii it’s a Shetland pony
The sergeant had a Corporal Jones moment.
Will we be seeing the full Black Watch band and pipes and drums on tour any time soon, not parted out with regimental bands of the household guard?
I was wondering, as my grandfather served in the seaforth/queens own highlanders (now part of 4SCOTS) would i also be allowed to join, considering i am an englishman, with a scottish mother?
Absolutely. Do him proud.
love ths scots bands as much as the marines bands
The Band of The Royal Marines have a much better pool of songs mid you, this band was rather repetetive!
yes i have seen the school of music on a couple of occasions and they played something diffrent every time
BUT, they do it so well. :)
At 9 00 the sergeant was a wee bit slow coming to attention, after the other ones did it .
How does anyone vote thumbs down on this?

HI THERE , JIM , I HADN'T SEEN THIS VID. BEFORE NOW !! NICE TO SEE. MANY THANKS, YOU MOST CERTAINLY KNOW HOW TO DO THESE VIDS. VERY EXCELLENT QUALITY !! ----- DO YOU KNOW THE NAME OF THE RED/ GREEN TARTAN ?!-------- CORRECT ME IF I'M WRONG ----- IS IT A CLAN TARTAN OR A GOVERNMENT TARTAN. ------- I THOUGHT THAT IT'S A CLAN TARTAN. ----- I NOTICE THAT NOT ALL THE PIPES & DRUMS ARE WEARING THE RED STEWART TARTAN ---- REFERRING TO REMEMBERENCE DAY 16. EDINBURGH. ALTHOUGH SOME OF THEM DO STILL WEAR R. S. TARTAN. BEST WISHES TO YOU , JOHN IN LONDON. P.S. THANKS FOR PUTTING THE TWO TUNES ON Y.TUBE SEPARATELY -- THE TITLES.
Love it....but then I am half Scottish :)
Guyz...i see a few asking for the name of the first tune: It is Atholl Highlnaders. Hope this answers some of your questions :D ua-cam.com/video/QU6Cm8tiv_s/v-deo.html

Cam anyone tell me history behind some of the bandsmen wearing leopard skins. I have even seen this on some American band units. My sons asked me this question and I| had no answer. Thanks for any help you may give.
marshall suber The wearing of the skins goes back to the days of the empire when the British army was in India and Africa. The officers would hunt for sport and the trophy skins would be worn by drummers to show them off. Leopards where pretty common, but in Canada you still see wolf and bear skins being worn.
The other opinion on where they came from was purely as a layer of protection to stop the tunics getting worn out. When the army were in the colonies, animal pelts that are now rare and probably banned were freely available, they wore them to stop the drums and belts rubbing through their uniform, or to stop the metal buttons and buckles scratching or damaging the drums. They also happen to be smart as hell!!
А вы видели как барабанщик на 3.30 с чем-то обошёл знак?
Brilliant
Cheers cb234cn
Never work with kids or animals! Lol x tht guy with th pony tho, looked like he wisny mnt to b there but someone was aff seek lol, poor man, got tae love um x
Anybody know the name of the first March that was played? I know they played Scotland the Brave and Highland Laddie but I'm not sure of the first one if any one could let me know that would be great thanks!
Atholl Highlanders march
It's "The Atholl Highlanders"
That's right. It's "Atholl Highlanders".
Kurtis george-wegner is atholl highlanders, glenderuel highlanders, Scotland the brave and highland laddie
Funny, I could have sworn it was Hielan' Laddie they played with Scotland The Brave
At 5:53, why is the Tuba wearing a leather diaper?
Please! What's the name of the marching song played at 4:30 minutes?Thank you!
Scotland the brave
What are the names of the pieces played by the orchestra?
Not Bad. But oh how I wished they had left the Highland Regiments Individual Identities alone! They look so generic now, and there was nothing like the sight of the Black Watch, Gordon Highlanders, Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders and the Queens Own Highlanders with their distinctive colours, dress and histories on Parade. Tony Blair really screwed this up, and threw away a good and important part of Scotlands History!
I agree with you totally. It does not make a difference money wise.....last I knew a Cameron kilt cost the same as a government pattern to make. The AS&H are no longer even a battalion and the odds are the rest of the titles will disappear as Whitehall cuts the heritage out of the army.... I understand why many soldiers took early retirement rather than stay on with the new regiment.
Airplane Doctor The Argyll's still exist as a full battalion...but under the title of the 4 Scots. Royal Regiment of Scotland. The Pipes and Drums of these Regiments still wear the Original Uniforms. But the Soldiers all wear the Generic Highland Dress that has been adopted. So no matter what branch of the Royal Regiment of Scotland...The Soldiers all look about the same.
+Darrin Gould sorry, but 4 Scots is the Highlanders(Seaforth,Gordon, and Cameron). AS&H where 5 Scots which was reduced to a ceremonial company, the fighting battalion no longer exists. Yes the bands wear the old regiments uniforms, except the cap badge which is the RRS badge.
Airplane Doctor Sorry...your correct. I got the Number Designation mixed up. I was unaware of the Regiments reduction...since they still served extensively in Iraq and Afghanistan. But I'm well aware that all the Regiments have gone back to the Cap Badge of the "Crucified Lion". What a shame.
Darrin Gould It was a crap deal for them, they got the axe because they are the junior regiment same as when it happened the first time in the 60's. Kinda funny how it cost twice as much to operate a guards regiment, yet they don't get touched....

Your my family and pride
María Victoria and kiss
Where are the trews. ? Not all Scots Regt wore the kilt.
What is a trew?
The Tartan trousers worn by (in my day ) KOSB &. Cameronians (Scottish Rifles ) . Both being Lowland Btns.
whats the Shetland pony for?
The Mascot - Cruchan he is called
Why does one of the drum majors wear trousers?
Woodrow Elmore the drum major is from the Royal Scots Borderers aka 1 Scots. The battalion is an amalgamation of the Royal Scots and Kings Own Scottish Borderers who where both lowland regiments that wore trews ( tartan trousers) rather than kilts. The drum major is carrying on the tradition.
Airplane Doctor is wrong, The Drum Major in trews is from 2 Scots, The Royal Highland Fusilers (RHF), but his reasoning is correct, Lowland units generally wore trews (apart from pipers) and Highland units wore kilts. In this case the trews he is wearing are from the Highland Light Infantry (HLI) which was amalgamated with the Royal Scots Fusilers to form the RHF. Despite the HLI's name they were a Lowland regiment (from the Glasgow area) and thus wore trews, it all gets very confusing with all the various amalgamations!
Сабля?
Ирландци и шотландцы самые честные слово сказал держат
Ireland and the Scots the most honest word said hold
everything changes for the worst, even here in the states
Love the pipes and drums. But the distinction from one regiment to the other is lost to history. The 42nd, 92nd, 93rd are no longer. Not the famous Regimental names The Black Watch, the Gordon highlanders, the Argyll and Sutherland highlanders, the Scots Greys the Seaforths the Cameron's so many lost with the swipe of a pen. Political hacks.
Beautyfull! But why do they play always the same : Highland laddie, Scotland the Brave ? …and bravo to Cruachan the decorared poney…
Only sparky would like this shit 😂
The two bands are O.K. individually, but together NO GOOD !!!
really? ive always loved the soudns of a massed band, personally milband on its own seems lonely without pipes
天佑女皇
без гарды +
2:55 .... uhmmmm
好棒的慶典,與參觀的民眾無隔閡,只是路太窄了,演奏者似乎有女性,而遊行的士兵也有非裔的,無所謂,只要效忠英國及女皇,膚色,信仰,族群,一律是大英國協的子民…
A wonderful celebration has nothing to do with the visiting people, but the road is too narrow. The performers seem to have women. The marching soldiers also have African-American descent. It doesn't matter if they are allegiance to Britain and the Queen. The color, beliefs, and ethnic groups are all big. British Council’s people
Vidéo absolument nulle. Très mauvaises prises de vues durant le déplacement de cette troupe et même pas foutu de s'attarder quelques secondes sur les portes drapeaux ( l'identité historique de l'Unité ). 0000000000= 0
Their legs are extremely white, these soldiers seriously need some sun.
The Royal what of where ? Has the Black Watch, Highland Light Infantry, Argyle and Sutherlands gone ? Oh, yes they have. C'mon Germany, France and even Belgium; Invade us as you'll just have to fight the crappy regiment of Scotland
