    You did great with your Alton Goods field test ..
    I'd watched many YT adventure/ travels vlogs/ trekking & some off-grids channels,
    and found your channel, for sure this is to best YT Channel, honest, funny, silly and a serious side - as you create ramblings of the environment you're in, the birds, fish, flora and fauna, sunsets, sunrises, rock formations all around you
    Well guess what?, yep, Ive taken the big-plunge and selected some cool gear from Alton Goods. I'd been looking at camping gear, walking trails gear that are durable, lightweight and functional, and this week..
    Since I'm a water-baby from a young protege 7yo, and that's been my life really, snorkelling, fishing, diving, boating, jet skis (ocean toys) and also sketching it all.. somehow I've been gravitating towards landlubber gear! haha
    thanks to you and this demo (which I've watched a few times now).. I'll test out this new gear end of this mos 2wk vacay thru Vic- NSW coast/ trails ..
    Lol 🌄🚶‍♀🏕🔥🍽 🍳

    Nice vid, thanks! I'm considering a hammock for exactly what you describe... there's just no guarantee of anywhere flat/stable where I like to go (which looks similar to where you were). What river were you at?

    Nice vid man. I get such a great sleep in a hammock. I did many trips with no insulation enduring a cold back even in the summer time. I then upgraded to an underquilt which was very effective but bulky to haul around, the last trip I did I used an insulated air mattresses and it will probably be the way I got from here on in, also nice to have a ground option at hand. Those coffee bags look cool, I'll have to get my paws on some.

    • @TheSillySwagman
      @TheSillySwagman  2 роки тому +1

      Yeah I completely agree, I reckon the mat is the best option. Maybe you don’t get quite the same level of comfort… maybe?? But it’s still comfy enough and far more compact. Very happy with it.
      Dude, get around the Dog & Gun Coffee company. Those drip filters are super handy for trips where you don’t have space for aero press etc. I love ‘em.

      @@TheSillySwagman yeah I'll have to get a few. There are a couple of companies making them, I might get a few and see who does the best. I found a hammock the better option if I have a bad back.

    Hammocks are awesome to sleep in. I have just purchased an Alton Goods super light hammock. Can’t wait to try it. To get in just sit in it, lean back and twist to get your legs in and boom, you are in. Great place the video was shot in. Love it. Cheers
    The get the correct hang, your straps should be sitting at around 30 degrees. You can rough check it using your thumb and index finger. You will love hammock camping. I will never sleep on the ground again

    Hey man, greetings from St Louis MO, USA. New to your channel and I'm really digging your style! Good to see another person taking the chance on a hammock! They take a little bit of learning but ultimately I find my hammock sets up and packs down faster than any tent I've seen, and likely on par with the speed of most tarp ground setups. I say keep working on getting the hang right and make sure you're laying diagonal. If you start hammock camping most of the time, I definitely recommend an underquilt instead of a pad, I use both combined for very cold trips, but for ordinary cold like 20F-50F (-6C-10C) I just use my underquilt alone. One thing I just recently figured out, it's totally viable to have your hammock suspension attached to the tree HIGHER than where your tarp rideline attaches to, which can be useful for making sure you have your hang angle right without needing to reach wayyy over your head to set up the tarp. Keep making awesome vids and hang on!

    • @TheSillySwagman
      @TheSillySwagman  2 роки тому

      Hey mate!
      Thanks for tuning in from across the ocean. That’s bloody awesome!
      I’ve just had a good read over your recommendation and I’ll be taking that on board next time I take the hammock out. I agree with you on the speed of which they go up, though. Just as easy as sleeping on the ground under a tarp and quicker than a tent. More enjoyable too.
      Thanks a lot for taking the time to write that, man. I really appreciate it.
      Take care, ok!

      Haha that’s exactly it, I’m glad I was able to answer a couple more questions about hammock sleeping for you then 😂
      It really does come down to how you hang it it seems. Mine had dipped a bit during the night because the knot I used had slipped, so I actually had it a fair bit straighter then that, 30 degrees. That way you don’t curve into it as much. 👍

    • @TheSillySwagman
      @TheSillySwagman  2 роки тому

      Cheers Michael! I appreciate the feedback. Glad you enjoyed it 🤙
      The broccoli was actually wrapped in a Beeswax wrap. I bought these a couple years back from a local making them and selling them on Facebook market but I’ve bought a few through Aldi etc since and they’re nowhere near as good, definitely try and look around online and buy from bee farmers etc. I think they’ll be better. The cheaper ones really don’t wrap as well and unfold. The good ones will mould to the product in the warmth of your hand. 👌
