    So glad to see this covered. Rotisserie construction is an often overlooked, but essential survival skill. You know, I've read accounts of people going bush with only a single spice blend in their kit. So irresponsible.

      Mate, it was honestly unreal. The fact that the rotisserie was a success just added such an awesome vibe to an already amazing arvo/evening down on the river. Just sitting back while that thing turned was so bloody cool. I loved it. Can definitely recommend having a crack!

    Silly mate! The vibes in this are top notch. The opening words were great. I feel like you have tried a new formula here, and it was so good. Loved to see your progression with the editing, pulling it up to speed with your excellent story telling. Killed it bother! Also how good are the Alton chairs hey, you pimp. I always strap it to the bottom of my pack so it doesn't take up room and I barely notice it.

      Cheers man! Yeah I’ve definitely been working on some new filming and editing techniques. I’m keen to apply it to a slightly longer overnight adventure to see how the pace works out. Thanks for noticing man 😂

    Mate, that's a hell of a big dinner for one person! Good to see another go at this idea though... I've been wanting to give it a go since I saw @ERIKOFFTRACK attempt it a few years ago (before Xander... who probably got the idea off Erik 😂). Problem is, we don't have any fast running streams in my neck of the woods, so I'm just going to have to live vicariously through the youtubes.
    Great to see another honest video where you talk about the fails too, lol.

      It was honestly the best roast chicken I’ve ever had! It was so damn juicy. Plus, I fair bit of work went into finally getting to taste it 😂 Made for such an enjoyable arvo/evening.

    That was a great video your doing great with them keep it up, vibes were on point and there is nothing I would rather watch before bed than that. It’s really interesting seeing these videos where your doing something other than just camping, it makes for a more interesting video. Also the shirt and jumper look great, I would love to get some mercy and support you and get the merch but I just don’t have the money for that shirt at the moment I’ll be keeping an aye out for any sales though

    First saw this done on a video by Fire To Fork but they used empty beer cans for the paddles on the rotisserie. It is a great idea & I like your way better, less possible waste to be left behind.

    Never seen a river powered rotisserie. Real nice! Also nicely edited and nice music choices! Always enjoy your vids. Keep it up mattsy.
    Ps you always have some good tunes. Can you start putting some song credits in description please. Who sings the one about living on the moon? Reminds me of John prine a bit.

    Ha ha yep the slowest way to cook chicken, and how hikes into the bush with a whole chicken when you have to cook and eat on the first night but man a lot of fun to do it anyway

    Well done pun intended. Some years back Eric offtrack tried this but lacked the cabbage palm sheaths as paddles. 3 times a charm and well deserved reward. Did u actually finish the whole thing off?

      The cabbage tree palms were perfect. I thought of them when a palm tree branch fell down from my neighbours tree when I got home one day. I was thinking so much about the rotisserie it just clicked immediately 😂😂

      Hey mate, this was a while back now so I can’t remember exactly, but it was probably about an hour and a half, five or take? I was down there late in the day so got it on not long before sunset. It gets dark quickly that time of year. But it tasted bloody good and it was a fun experiment 👌

    I think the 2 fork branches , & a stick with a make do handle would have been a bit quicker . as u would have been starving watching it turn in darkness

      Well fortunately this wasn’t a survival situation and I was down there for fun and to enjoy tinkering and experimenting with something unique, enjoying the outdoors at the same time. It was the perfect arvo/evening and I had a blast. Wasn’t starving and the chicken was well worth the wait 😄
