HX Effects actually can use a TS cable for expression input, not a TRS. This will save users on choice of expression pedal and cabling. I used a Dunlop X mini. TS only, works perfect. You do need to flip a switch inside the Dunlop (can't remember exactly what it was called, but it's a small toggle switch). If you don't change this the HX Effects sees the Dunlop going through toe-heel-toe while you do a pedal sweep. If this is changed, it works perfectly.
I've just bought a M-Audio expression pedal, but do you know how to change the position of the pedal because when I fully press the pedal i only go from 0% to 62%.. And there is like volume knob on this pedal and if i turn this on up it goes from 92% till - 100%.. There has to be a way to let the pedal know when it's pressed at 100% and when it's not pressed right? (excuse my shitty English)
Hi! I have an hx effects and an engl screamer 50w. For me it's not really comfortable to use 4 cable method, and I don't feel it sounds exactly the same if I use the pedalboard and if I don't use, I think I can appreciate a little difference or sound loss. Would you say this is a good puchase to use it with hx effects and a good valve amp, or should I just try to rid it off, and buy analogic pedals?
If you put together a pedalboard with lots of analog pedals you're going to have noise issues and them affecting the sound in much the same way - unless you employ an expensive switcher, isolators, premium power supply etc. The reason I went away from analog pedals is because of the noise, and the amount of hassle if something goes wrong - trying to track down the cause of the problem etc. If you want something to just work then analog pedals are not the best choice IMO. If you're a tone obsessive, and love to tinker, then they have more appeal.
Great video man :) Is your line 6 hx powered by the Mxr iso brick? I noticed you have in on your board.. If it is how did you connect? Thank you Cheers
Unfortunately not. I have to power it with its original power supply - it needs too much juice for the power brick. Hope that helps and thanks for watching.
I just ordered an HX FX and I'm looking for expression pedal options, but I have a doubt: how do you turn wah on and off? From a switch on hx fx? So if I buy an expression pedal that has a switch on the toe side just as a regular wah pedal, can that be assign to switch wah on and off?
I use one of the footswitches on the HX. In theory you should be able to use the toe switch as the HX supports two expression pedals (and therefore two functions from one pedal), but I've not tried it, so can't say for certain.
@@thehont8648 Thanks for the answer, is not a really big issue, but it would be better for me if I could turn it on and off with the switch on the expression pedal
Is it possible to use one expression pedal to control the mix levels on two different footswitches? I have a delay and a reverb in two spots. I can’t figure out a way to control the mix of one without it also affecting the other. I’m already using the expression pedal two port with a volume pedal.
It should be done the same way. Adjust the mix in reverb. Then go to mix in delay and assign it to exp pedal. You can do all kinds of stuff on all of the effects in that snapshot
@@sasapavsic5686 But my pedal is still changing the mix on both the reverb and delay at the same time. Is there a way to have it only affect the effect that is active at the time without it affecting the other?
12. PEDAL/EXT AMP 1-2 Two expression pedals can be connected to the HX Effects device and assigned to adjust a wide variety of parameters. By default, EXP 1 is automatically assigned to control and bypass Wah/Pitch Wham type blocks, and EXP 2 is automatically assigned to control Volume blocks, making them ready for use with your connected expression pedal(s). See "Assigning a Controller" Alternatively, either jack can be connected to your traditional guitar amp to switch its channels or turn its reverb on and off. Use a TRS cable for dual operation (A=tip, B=ring). To set this jack's function. See "Global Settings > Preferences"
if you're in signal flow, go to the effect, and where you would normally assign it to a footswitch, you can assign it to the EXP pedal. it will turn off and on based on whether the EXP is at 0% or anything above 0%. Sometimes it starts backwards (ie, pedal heel down is on, pedal toe down is off), in that case just hit the footswitch for the effect to toggle it and then it will work properly.
@@prosperity-gospel Thank you, Edward! In the meantime I figured it out. What does not work is my Mission EP-1 with the spring load, that returns to heel down position.
I got the Nektar NX-P and it works almost perfect. The only thing is, that the heel goes down to 2%...not down to 0%. But you have to do a soldering mod to make it work with the HX Effects.

Could you do a video on how you're using the Trio+ with the HX Effects? I'd be very interested...
Alas not. I've sold the Trio. Sorry.
Is it possible to use external wah wah pedal as a espression pedal and as a ext. wah wah?
Not with a regular Wah pedal I don't think, no.
