Who doesn’t love Larkin Poe!?! They’re the sweetest most humblest band/sisters! My daughter and I have been fans of them since their Lovell Sister’s days, this is so well deserved!
@@chrisruef9221 , at some point you may discover that they have several great songs that never have been recorded. They are only to be found on youtube live videos. This includes their probably still most popular song", "Mad As A Hatter". Many people have found the band through their long row of completely stripped down living room covers.
I had the great pleasure of spending a few minutes with Rebecca and Megan when they were back home in Atlanta for a show a few years ago. They are absolutely as warm and friendly as they are incredibly talented.
She have been touring the world several times and have been jamming with people like Bonamassa and Billy Gibbons. Have written and produced a Grammy nominated blues album. Just saying..... 😄
@@westmus Why did you respond with that? Make that an original comment but your addition does absolutely nothing... It doesn't even relate to what he said... He was simply admiring her ability and you decided to give the wikipedia career resume as if he challenged her ability? Her playing with those people doesn't change the fact she didn't think of herself as a player for a long time...
I think the way she described how she entered the world of guitar playing , is really the best way to enter the guitar world. It should always be about the song and the music no matter how extremely awesome the guitar is. I spent too many years worshipping guitar playing rather than making the music. Make the music and the guitar will happily follow.
I built my board around the HX effects for 3 reasons - 1) in built electronic routing options are amazing to build cool pedal interactions, 2) I am new to guitar and didn't know what I wanted for modulations/reverbs/filters/wah etc but I have my drives which I love so can loop them in, and 3) options 1 and 2 for only £400 is amazing value. I use the Simplifier from DSM & Humboldt as my amp and I think it sounds killer!
I've been following TB since I saw him tour with Jeff Beck. He opened with a cowboy guitar and a case and played a really cool set. HUGE fan of Larkin Poe. They are amazing.
Yes in Vienna Tyler Bryant and his band Shakedown opened for AC/DC in 2016. My son and I were fortunate enough to see this concert. Of course we went to see AC/DC, Shakedown was just bonus,
Great video Rhett. This approach and vibe content wise is really refreshing. Seeing another artist get acclimated with gear while you’re there in the room is really cool. Felt like a cool little community.
Rhett, thanks for introducing me to Larkin Poe. Didn't know the band so delighted to see they are touring the UK later this year so will definetly catch a show.
XTS make some killer pedals themselves. Actually quite underrated as they don't market as hard as a lot of other companies. Also, the way she looks at her hubby was really lovely to see.
Love that board. I’m taking it maybe a step further in terms of all-in-one effects and real amp, but still having backup amp solution. PedalTrain Nano+ with a HX Stomp XL and a MeloAudio EXP-001 into my Deluxe Reverb. That’s it. Never been happier.
Great video👍🙂 When Rebecca picked up the unit I was surprised there was no side handles to help grip the unit. That would help to avoid dropping it. 😱 Larkin Poe is my new favourite band.
I saw Larkin Poe a few weeks ago in Brighton (been wanting to see them for years and they were fantastic, obviously). Nice to have this insight into how Rebecca gets those swampy sounds I love so much...thanks!
Well this was fun! Rebecca is so talented as is her sister and .. Tyler doesn’t exactly suck 😎😜. Rig sounds awesome and is good for thought as we all try - at whatever level - to play in front of people again! Love every one of you and thanks for keeping us weekend old guys inspired 🎸
For so many reasons I love Rebecca. Voice? Angelic. Guitar tone? Devilish. This makes my Friday. Now, what I want to know is; between you and Megan, who has the better slide tone? ;-)
I love the HX Effects! It's the centrepiece of everything on my pedalboard. Great for experimenting. I've always wanted to try something from Strymon. Their pedals always seem so exciting to me.
Check out the MXR/CAE MC403 for any future pedalboard builds. I have one under a cool old Fix pedalboard and it makes everything dead silent. Also Barefoot Buttons might come in handy for that sugar-boost sitting where it is. They make some extra tall button adapters that would give the sugar boost button a taller profile to hit it easier. The first famous person I saw to swear by the HX Effects was Billy Corgan, he said he loves it. Thought I'd throw that in there for the Line 6 deniers in the comments. Cool vid, Poe is otherwordly for their age, they rock.
@@phintze I forgot to mention that I'm a proud owner of a Plethora X5 and I love it! 8-) I'm using the Wampler/Tom Quayle Dual Fusion as the drive. I'm pretty happy with it. I don't have an Iridium, but maybe one day. Right now I either plug it into the Audio Interface or a Yamaha portable amp for bedroom studio work.
@@triolinv.9173 I have tried the hxfx in front and also in the fx loop. It works either way, but it sounds better with delay and reverb in the loop if the amp tone is distorted.
Then you definitely need to check out Rhett’s video from a few months ago with Tyler. That served as my introduction to both TBSD and Larkin Poe for which I am forever grateful.
@@TenaciousPrawn Now that you mention it I remember since I discovered their music last October when Tyler Bryant and the Shakedown released their new album
My good friend has the Deco pedal. He’s my favorite guitar player in my area and it’s an important part of his sound. It’s expensive but damn is it a good pedal.
Wow! What a great video. Props to XTS. What a great company. I was so worried this would include Mason and Vertex. What a relief that was NOT the case. :)
Love Larkin Poe. Was gonna try and see them April 2020 at the Jane Fonda Theater in LA, but... something or other happened that canceled the show... Anyway, great video as always,. Always cool to see how traveling musicians set up their live rig.
Larkin Poe are one the best and most REAL music acts currently working. Just splendid players and singers. In my opinion the should be GIGANTIC SUPERSTARS. As an after note does anyone notice how much Rebecca looks like MILA Kunis? ! A very attractive talented young woman!
Did I miss the part where you go over how this is wired or should that just be obvious. You could ask me where I've been for 3 years but I've only just started to consider the Iridium alongside my HX Effects to enable myself to go direct into my PA. Would be interested to see how you have this wired.
Killer little rig! Love it.. I cringed a little when she said the buttons will ‘hopefully be indestructible’. I somehow broke the tap tempo on my HX Effects (a local tech repaired it) so go easy with those boots!
I have and LOVE Tyler's TB Drive Shakedown Special by Rodenberg. It can be as clean or nasty as you want it and the entire spectrum sounds soooooo gooooood.
What the hell did I say? LOL I set my clean to be a "Global" stage or recording level, then bring my pedals and FX up to that. Use boost for over the top. Comments and bourbon sometimes, do not mix. :-)
Whoa! Amazing!! I love these guys!! However maybe I missed the info but I was wondering what is the signal chain for this pedalboard. Overdrive before HX ? Overdrive in Hx loop ? Any clue ?
Love the pedal talk but hilariously the most interesting part to me is Back Down South is on a different part of the neck than where I have been playing it.
Woooow really proud of that tbi drive pedal names, actually habibi is one of Indonesian ex president name. And hes such an awesome man and very genius.
Rhett, real question. Why the choice of the HX Effects and Iridium and not just an HX Stomp XL? I don't see any DPS issue with a Stomp XL with the way she's using it. Also, both the Stomp and HX Effects would give 6 switch choices. Thanks for the great channel!
