    nico video, thanks.
    an additional trick for Wah usage: add the Wah bypass to Footswitch 5, too.
    Then pressing the footswitch turns on the Wah and the expression pedal 1 controls the wah position.
    Pressing it again switches Wah off and the expression pedal back to "pedal 2".

    👏 Really a great, useful video. Thank you. For a minute I was afraid that you couldn't use 2 separate types of controls (controller and expression). This was a quick easy bit of reassurance. Thanks again,

    James, I just got this exact expression pedal with the Stomp XL and trs y cable bundle from sweetwater, I’ve set up the pedal just as video, but every time I sweep to the heel position, at the halfway point, the sweep triggers a toggle action between exp 1 and 2 or it bypasses…it’s basically spazzing out, and of course the toe switch works, but it shouldn’t be doing this should it?

    Can the SP1-L6 be used for wah so that the toe switch turns the wah effect on/off?

    • @JamesLebihan
      @JamesLebihan  3 роки тому

      Yes. It does this by default. This is covered in the video. If you just want to turn the wah on and off rather than switch between volume and wah, then you can assign the switch (we used FS5 in the video) just to the bypass the wah effect.

    hi,your cable is 6.5mm trs to 6.35mm ts ?if i use dunlop dvp4 also work?i want to connect the dvp4 and foot switch to HX STOMP exp1/2 out put.

    • @JamesLebihan
      @JamesLebihan  3 роки тому

      I'm not sure that the Dunlop DVP4 will work. It certainly won't work if you want to use the switch. The DVP4 is a TRS expression pedal and the HX Stomp is designed for a TS expression pedal. You can try using the DVP 4 with a TRS cable connected to the HX Stomp and see if it will work.

    So the main different between using TRS to TRS from jack 1 is that you get Exp 1 + FS5, and if you use A Y-cable from both jacks, the switch toggles between EXP 1 and EXP 2? Because I'll tell you that I cannot, for the lift of me, get that to work on an HX Stomp XL.

    • @DannyCruzCreations
      @DannyCruzCreations Рік тому +1

      Actually, I just realized it doesn't matter. Both types of behaviors can be achieved by changing settings within the Stomp, whether you use a Y cable or a TRS cable in only one jack. I honestly would only recommend the use of both jacks for Helix users, since Helix has two different inputs. Recommending that for Stomp users simply makes it unnecessarily confusing, since you can get it to do the exact same thing either way. I just spent so much time with the Y-cable thing thinking I could have more features that way, only to realize I could not get it to work because I couldn't figure out the correct set of settings over on the Stomp, only to just connect a standard TRS cable and do exactly the same thing.

    • @DannyCruzCreations
      @DannyCruzCreations Рік тому

      Essentially, if you use both jacks with a Y cable, the switch simply toggles jack 1 between tip only between EXP 1 and EXP 2. But if you just use jack 1 with TRS, then the the tip is always connected to the pot, and the switch is connected to the ring and can just tell the Stomp to switch that tip connection between EXP 1 and EXP 1 with software. I'm smarter now after learning all that, but boy do I wish I had never tried the Y-cable method. I would have save so much time.

      @@DannyCruzCreations I couldn't get the Y cable to work until I added an adapter (Google: "Hosa YPP-117 Stereo Breakout Cable - 1/4 inch TRS Male to Left and Right 1/4 inch TS Female")...Then I got the expected "0-100" behavior with my Mission Engineering pedal, instead of the weird "0-100-0" behavior

    The internet tells me a SP1-LH6 will work with my hx stomp. yet, the toe switch does nothing when it's hooked up with a Y cable. I have range for volume OR wah, but I can't switch between. I get so frustrated with this stuff.

      make sure its a tsr cable
      so a stereo cable
      a normal guitar cable has one of those black rings across the metal
      a stereo has two
      needs to be a stereo, so it can give out two informations to the helix
      one information for the expression and another for the switch

      HX stomp lets you assign an external switch to snapshot up or snapshot down navigation. I'm not sure that you can assign it to jump to a specific snapshot.

    • @JamesLebihan
      @JamesLebihan  3 роки тому +1

      Most likely no.The EP1-KP is a TRS expression pedal. Most Line 6 products require a Line 6 specific TS expression pedal such as the Mission SP1-L6 as used in this video or the Mission EP1-L6 which is the version without the switch.

    I just got the ep1L6 its only working properly with a TS on both sides (stomp & pedal),
    If I use a TRS to TS, Y cable for a switch its working partially. Meaning I can control wah, but no delay, reverb or volume.

    Does the Mission Engineering EP1-L6-BK (w/no toe switch) work the same? And do I still need a TRS or just a regular mono patch cable for the EP1-L6-BK? I know I will need the TRS if I decide to add a seperate switch box in the future. Thank you in advance. :)

    • @JamesLebihan
      @JamesLebihan  3 роки тому +1

      The EP1-L6 works the same, without the switch functions of course. You will need a single TS cable to connect one EP1-L6 or a TRS insert (Y cable) if you want to connect two Expression pedals or an expression pedal and seperate switch. The wiring instructions are on page 8 of the HX Stomp user manual

    Will this work as a Volume pedal/Tap Tuner? cause Thomann says; "Integrated toe switch to turn effects on and off without the need for a separate footswitch (Helix Rack only)".
    So are you sure the toe switch works with the HX Stomp. (I'm talking about the "Mission Engineering SP1-L6H-BK
    ")

    • @JamesLebihan
      @JamesLebihan  4 роки тому +2

      Yes, I'm sure that it works with the HX Stomp because I designed it :-). Originally the SP1-L6H switch worked only with the Helix Rack because that was the only Helix that had support for an external toe switch at the time. The HX Stomp was not introduced until several years later. The text in Thomann's description of the SP1-L6H probably hasn't been updated

      I’m torn between buying the Helix HX Stomp in combination with an expression pedal OR buying one of the more pricy Helix fx pedals that come with an expression pedal. I like the idea of the compactness of the Stomp but like the idea of an all in one.
      With that said would a Stomp work well for ambient style music? I also want to play blues and rock but am not sure which of the Helix pedals would provide adequate ambient music capabilities. Knowing what I’m shooting for can you please recommend which route I should go in? I should mention that cost is a factor. Thank you!

      @KLRCAT 4 роки тому +1

      @@graphicartdude I've done Ambient music (Andy Othling) for worship style music, and found that limiting myself to 2 or 3 pedals helps me be more creative, it's the main reason I would get the Helix HX Stomp, as it only offers 6 blocks, but still has all the amp modeling and effects of the Helix LT for only £450👍
      It all depends on what you want and how you play. The Helix LT offers everything with up to 32 blocks and an expression pedal for around £799 (currently).

      Yes. If you want to put a volume block in the signal chain in an HX Stomp, then that will use up a block. If you want a dedicated volume pedal and don't want to use a programable volume block then you can just use a Mission VM-PRO between the guitar and the HX Stomp guitar input.

    James is there any reason why connecting the pedal and using the wah function would cause the unit to freeze? At first the wah seems to work fine but then after about 30 seconds there is no more wah and I am unable to move between patches until I do a hard reset by turning the unit on and off. Is this something that you've come across before?

    • @JamesLebihan
      @JamesLebihan  4 роки тому

      I have not come across this before. I would check that the cable connecting the expression pedal to the Line 6 unit is good. Intermittent cable connections can cause odd problems. Also make sure you have updated to the latest firmware. As a last resort you can try resetting the unit back to the factory defaults and see if the problem still occurs.
