Don't worry about looks, it's about productivity and efficiency. I wouldn't care if it looked like 3.1 since everything I have ever used is 3rd party software anyway.

Thank you for showing Us this. I have an out of date Sony Vaio Laptop Computer that came from a Pawn Shop. It's so out of date that it's Model Number wouldn't register on Sony's website. Well you just saved Me a ton of money by showing Me these few easy steps. My computer was once slow and unresponsive. Now, it's much faster and a lot smoother. Looks pretty good, except when you said to disable most of the startup programs, that could be a tad sketchy to mess with if you don't know what is loaded and why.
Been doing this all along since WinXP... but good info for beginners. Good Job.

For the record, if you have a decent laptop and want to speed it up for gaming, try putting the battery profile on balanced. It seems to work for me, as I run games with more consistent, albeit lower, frame rates.
I personally dont want to turn my sounds off. but this tutorial actually helped me a lot. thanks.
by the way. if your using windows. Ccleaner is automatically installed.

mm... . . adding solid state drive and more memory will speed things up a lot. Also, when using Windows, i use FolderChanger to increase my productivity overall, just to speed up my workflow as well. Google for "folderchanger".. works great
But my laptop has 8 gigs of ram and I installed windows 7 new. But it's still using too much ram

hi I thought that this was helpful. However, when I rebooted my computer I could not connect to internet via my ethernet connection to my modem. I was able to recover this by reversing the msconfig deletions. Can you advise why this happened?

you don't need anything ticked on startup only services just tick the box that says (Hide all Microsoft services) then you can untick those as well, however keep your antivirus box ticked in services and Startup.

Your vid was super helpful UNTIL you had to uncheck the boxes. it told me to restart which I thought was reasonable but then when I went to go log in the account was disabled. I don't have any other accounts so currently my computer is completely worthless. help?
what about unchecking some of the services in msconfig?
i think i did that on an old computer and it quit working

I just performed these steps and unable to see wireless networks available to connect to. It states that it is set up to use a proxy server. WiFi is working because I can connect on other devices just fine. What do I need to do to correct this.? Thanks

the CCCleaner I downloaded also download 2 other programs with it, now I can not get rid of any of it. People downloading things from the internet can really screw up a computer, thank you for this, Don't need your advise any more
