- This video is intended to compliment the Army Corp of Engineers website campground information. The information on their website about each campsite is useful in choosing a site and their pictures are good, but not always the best view. I have found a ride through the sites on a bicycle to be helpful. I spent the weekend at Springfield Campground on one of the last weekends they were open in 2020. The campground was fairly busy, so I missed riding through lots of the sites, but I think you can still get a pretty good feel for what the sites are like. Unfortunately, the removal of most of the mature pine trees from the campground in early 2019 has left the place looking a little rough. The sites are in order, so you can skip to the ones you want to see. I hope this helps.
GREAT JOB!!! Agree with Anne that I wish every campground did this!
Thank you so much for the detail you share on your campground videos. I go to them constantly to find the best spots for us!
Amazing video. I wish every campground had a video like this!!
Thanks, I will keep trying.
Helpful, thanks!
Thanks for the review. We are heading here in October.
The Virginia pines trees were removed following hurricane Irma in 2017. Virginia pines are shallow rooted trees. Irma brought many many down and caused an unstable environment for the remaining VA pines. USACE took proactive measures by removing the remaining at risk VA pines. No hardwoods were removed and saplings planted. Incidentally there has not been a pine beetle infesting the Upstate of SC since 2000. Springfield Park Attendant since 2016.
Thank you for the clarification. And thanks for taking great care of the campground!
Do they let day use?
Yes. They have a boat ramp.
