    Basically it’s a video of hypothetical problems that may occur. There is no better generators then Honda , period. If you want the least amount of problems from your generator and a solid 10 years of trouble free performance, buy Honda.
    Yes it costs more , but so does everything that’s worth it, that lasts. Otherwise buy HF crap or some other brand for less and don’t complain about reliability and longevity.

    • @johnnysweekends
      @johnnysweekends  6 місяців тому +4

      Again ask enough Honda owners and they are not exactly pleased with the newest models as they are not as problem free as they used to be. If you use items hard and all day everyday then a gas Honda will probably be the best bet, but if its a once in a while buy a dual fuel unit from wen or champion or similar and it will do what most people need.
      Read comments in my channel or other channels. Now sure there are plenty of good units out there but is Honda still the best…or does Yamaha actually out last. I have friends with those and read on others and those seem to just run for ever. Super heavy though.

      If you have such good service from Honda generators, that's fine and your business, I have 6 non-honda generators with one being over 25 years old, it will crank on the first pull and runs great. They get regular service and run time weekly, but no splash lubricated generator will last like a pressure lubricated system with an oil filter. Twenty thousand hours is not uncommon on some portable diesel generators before they need an overhaul. Johnny is a good guy just putting this information out, it's up to the viewer to make their own decisions, and spend their money the way they want. Make some videos on your Honda's we would love to see them, best regards!

    I had two Eu2200i. Sold both of them when we purchased a whole house natural gas genny. I did buy a EU2200i for the cabin and it will do more than I need. The bluetooth is quirky so I don't use it. I added an hour meter to keep up with run time. Oil changes every 50 hours, non ethanol premium fuel and monthly exercise with varying loads. Great assessment Johnny. Thanks!

    I'm not mechanically inclined but found out through need to work on the Honda I own and it really was not that difficult . I own the 2200i and the companion. One of them worked great and than during one of my maintenance cycles I do every 2 or 3 months I could not get one of them to start, even though I used non-ethanol fuel and ran the carb dry like all Honda do. The carb is easy to access and to clean. I then decided to convert both of them to propane. The kits were expensive but well worth it and also for a person not mechanical like me were easy to install. I've had them both for a few years and would never consider buying a larger heavier one. As an older man the time will come that portability is key and heaving two portable generators that I can carry is key, even though I have to make two trips if I am going to parallel connect them. Good information given for the consumer that is not aware or researching.

    Dual Fuel is the only way to go. Whether it's daily use or every other year in a storm, Propane will almost always work, it does not spoil in the can like Gas does. It also does not foul the plugs or engine oil like gasoline (Petrol) does.
    The only reason I would I would ever use gasoline is simply because of availability of the fuel.
    And Propane has the instant advantage of me not having to try to claim a refund on the Road Taxes from Gasoline.

    Bought my Honda EU 3000, must have been 15 years ago. When they first came out. Added remote start to use when camping. No idea how many hours, but use it for 2 weeks to run the AC every year. It is so old, Asked Honda for the gasoline gage. They had no idea when it was produced by the serial number. Still runs like a champ. Only thing I did was change the spark plug. Change synthectic oil after every use.

    Bought our Ai Power 2300 (Yamaha engine) from Costco on sale $400 and another $70 to ship to us in Hawaii. Runs our whole home 120/125v power just fine. Run only ethanol free fuel, change the oil every 100 hours and run it one a month for 2-3 minutes. Runs like a champ. We went with the lower power because it runs all the critical stuff and running it at the back of the house means you don’t hear it when you drive or walk by. When everyone else is without power, no point in advertising that you still do. Aloha!

    Bought my 3200 for the RV a/c, 15k unit with soft start. 2200 would have run near max and 3000 was heavy to be portable.
    Two 2200’s was also more size than I wanted to haul so bit the bullet and sprung for the 3200.
    Love the size vs 3000 or 2-2200’s. Bought the extended run cap for auxiliary tank. Fits my situation well but only because of the size factor.
    Almost went with the 3000 but wanted something the wife could move if she had to pack camp so the 3000 was a no go.

    It's all just application dependent. I don't camp with a generator and I'm a mechanic by trade. The carb generators are by far my preference. Serviceability is paramount. I can easily make gaskets and clean a carb in my own shop. The complication of the fuel injection system doesn't make sense for my application. Now, if you're running your generator all the time and traveling with it the 3200 may make a whole bunch of sense. I would personally go with 2xeu3000is before I went with one eu7000 just because I don't want the fuel injection mess. I would at minimum have one extra injector and fuel pump for each generator if I did have an FI system. It's all to taste.

    • @johnnysweekends
      @johnnysweekends  5 місяців тому +1

      Agree, a carb you can at least get to work if you know what your are doing. Gasket making, easy! And yea the eu7000 FI model is problematic and I would avoid. Im with you. The fuel injection is cool and serves a purpose for those that want a more efficient gen, but simplicity and serviceability is key.

    It's one of those situations where when you add more tech, there are just more things to go wrong. On a fundamental level it is unavoidable. However I do agree that Honda isn't what it used to be in some situations... I picked up a EU2200I yesterday. And it ran like crap right out of the box. Disappointing when the predator 2000 we've had for 3 years runs like a top... But I do still trust it to be better in the long run once this is resolved.
    For the dual fuel, I get it. I also don't. Propane isn't as easy to source around me outside of exchanges. So the 15lbs for 23$ is convenient in a pinch for sure but most all my appliances (other than the trailer) are natural gas now... So for me I'd want a tri-fuel like my 7000 generac I converted and had for over 20 years now. And it is one of the few situations where it is another part but isn't adding a real failure point but rather redundancy which is nice.
    And just messing around with the few I've played with in the 2000 watt range, the Honda does seem to have the best operation by far as far as voltage stability under load and maintaining load. The predator really struggled with window A/C units on startup where the the honda (others of the same model, not this one... yet) just purr along... So I am pretty sold on it being "better" but it is a situation where if it can happen to me, it does. Thanks for the video!

    Interesting overview. Still have my Honda EU2200i with dual fuel conversion I bought the tail end of lockdown that I only use about 300 hours per winter. I just use petrol with it now for convenience, but interesting that propane bypasses the carb so that might be an option if it ever fails. There are just so many medium sized generators available now at reasonable prices that anything approaching an expensive repair would not be worth it.

    I have two Honda 2000's. Maple Hunters sells propane kits for almost all generators. I have been looking for a tri-fuel inverter generator of around 8000 watts or less, In the past I have gotten by hooking them in parallel, but I wanted to run more circuits so my Reliance transfer switch can run up to 8000 watts. Nowadays I take only one Honda 2000 to charge up the power station or the two Battle Born batteries on my camper.

      @johnnysweekends The Genmax 9000 IEDC wont crank start. I called and emailed Genmax but only China replied and forwarded me to their US service adviser who made a self determination it was a carburator issue and told me to have the carb replaced at my cost. After 45 days the replacement carb arrived. All my generators are serviced by professionals per schedule including driving fuel and etc. I initially liked Genmax for the perceived value for the features. But now all these features are just gimmicks to me as if they can't have a reliable generator then at least Honda have better after sales service and parts availability. I do know Honda quality took a dive since some of their genetic are no longer made in Japan but perhaps China as well. Don't get me wrong the Firman and Ryobi including my Allpowers R4000 solar generator are made in China but they have great after sales response and part availability. I was also looking to buy the 10500 genmax but after this experience no more genmax for me.

      Hello there. I bought the EU220i. Yes, it cost a bit more than some of the other options available, but it "seems" to trump the others in terms of quality, noise, etc. I just wanted to buy something "once" and be done with it, something that would last a good many years. But, as it has been mentioned, perhaps other brands have caught up with Honda in the quality department. I don't know. I do like the Bluetooth feature, and I especially like the switch option that allows the unit to drain/burn the gas in the carburetor for the sake of long-term storage, etc. It seems easy to work on, etc. She's a done deal now, and I hope the unit lasts for many years, at least for my purposes. :)

    Really hard to make an argument for Honda when they are 3x the cost of most generators. Also, the flexibility of propane, and now 240v series operation with Gemmax, there are just better options out there for the vast majority of people.

      On a dollar per watt basis the 3200 can’t hold a candle to the 2200. With the 3200, Honda completely misread the market both in the power provided and the price.

      A common mistake is leaving the unit in the box. When the storm hits, oil it up, fuel and away we go......only to blow up a few days later....well out of warranty. My suggestion, oil & gas it up, connect a space heater , run 2 tanks of fuel and 2 oil changes. NOW, YOU'RE READY. If you do not change the engine oil at least once during the first 5 hours, you just cut your engine life in half.

    The 3200 is nice but when you can buy 2 eu2200 Hondas and have more power, kinda doesn't make sense to buy it. Even more so with the China dual fuel suitcase generators. Get 2 of those for a grand use them, wear them out, and buy 2 more and still be cheaper than the eu3200. And I own a eu2200.

    • @johnnysweekends
      @johnnysweekends  6 місяців тому +2

      Exactly my point….and if they run 3500 hours or so each you’ll get more total hours. And if it’s propane you hardly ever have fuel issues to deal with. Maybe a regulator here or there

      @mikecon7634 I rarely use my Hondas now as im normally using propane. Safer,cleaner, costs the same or less depending on where i get it and just burns cleaner. To many units to keep up on so most are going into storage faze. I would almost -prefer a designated small 3500 watt propane unit as if if just built for propane its longevity will be better and power output. Not many of those around,.

      @johnnysweekends  3 місяці тому +3

      Of If I was would I be buying all of these products myself..???
      Sounds like you need to do more research.
      Eu7000is EFI unit has tons of problems. Sure there are some good ones but several bad ones. Nothing like a $5500 paper weight
      Warranty .. what warranty. They are becoming every other company and dying when they can. They realize generators that last 20 years doesn’t make money.
      I like Honda as much as the next. But so many options now where you can buy 2 or 3 units for the same price and get more hours out of them combined and less down time. Well… seems like maybe better money spent.
      Honda is still good but not what it used to be.
      Plus are you going to do the 250hr timing belt inspection? Every 250 hrs roughly?
      If not a shop will charge $300 for the 2 hrs to inspect it.
      That gets even more expensive if you wanna keep that warranty.
      I have owned several Hondas …. All paid for by me…
      The eu3200 is a great unit. But definitely not for $2799…. That’s crazy $1800 maybe for a 2600 watt unit

    • @johnnysweekends
      @johnnysweekends  5 місяців тому

      It depends what ya need. The 3000is is big and heavy but its a tank and most run forever. At least the older ones from what I see. I sold mine as I couldn’t buy an inverter board for it anymore if it went out according to parts finder. My year was DC for some reason. And i dont now if others would work with out modifications. The 3200i is nice. $2799 nice…? Defiantly not. But if you could grab it for $2000 in the box or a little less open box then it starts to be something to consider. It’s not as quiet as the 2200i but still Honda quiet. Plus i have been more into just using propane now. And cant figure out why Honda doesn’t do a dual from the factory.
