I’ve heard the terms “work husband” and “work wife” for as long as I can remember. I think it’s extremely weird. The words “husband” and “wife” are sacred and should be saved for actual spouses. In the year 2024, these terms have made it to TikTok. Some people think it’s innocent, but thankfully, there are people pointing out the toxicity of it.

Yeah I’m not married but I once had a female coworker I got along with very well. Our work styles just really clicked so we got handed the same contracts. Anyway everyone at the company called Caitlyn my work wife (not my idea) and it got back to my gf and she got super pissed. Accused me of cheating on her. The irony is our job is remote and Caitlyn lives on the other side of the country so… idk how that relationship is happening

That would be taking your relationship for granted. However, The notion of a flawless marriage or relationship is a myth. There's no set formula for success; what works for one couple may not work for another. Yet, I've discovered that there's always a way forward, even in the most challenging times. Five years ago, my wife and I encountered significant hurdles in our marriage that nearly led to divorce. Despite the adversity, we managed to weather the storm and emerge from it with our bond renewed and revitalized

I first heard the term used by one of my coworkers when I told her I was getting married (this was years ago).
She told me she was single at work and that it doesn't matter if I'm married that I was free to have a "work husband". Thankfully, I had the good sense to know this was crap since she'd been married and divorced twice.
Young people just starting relationships need to know healthy boundaries and that talk like that leads to affairs, divorce and other damage. It's not funny. It's not ok.

A bunch of guys at work started referring to me as their “work wife” and fake arguing over it. I said to stop and that it was disrespectful to their girlfriends. One of them continued to do so, and he eventually asked me on a date (yes he still was in a relationship). I continued to bother them by asking “how is your girlfriend” after they made an inappropriate comment. They eventually got the hint. Trust me, it’s never just friendly banter.
I quickly applied for jobs on another team
What a gross and toxic work environment that was. I am so nervous to be in a relationship because of things like this.

However, I've lived with my partner for 5 years, we came to Christ together last summer and my understandings are tototally changed. We just got married 3 weeks ago. But if I could go back time, I woud have done it in THAT order... Mariage is not sacred anymore when you skip all the steps. That's why the understanding of marriage for people is now so twisted

Before I got married there wasn’t one female “friend” that was just that. I can’t speak for women but it is hard wired into the male brain. Any close relationship with the opposite sex will go that way. It should be avoided. That doesn’t mean you cannot be friendly with those of the opposite sex but it is a pitfall best avoided

Maybe this explains why all men at work avoid me haha. Like they won’t even make eye contact. the temptation is too much for them I guess lmao

      I have 5 work "partners"': 2 hetero, 1 gay/bi, 1 trans & 1 non-binary. I've never cheated...only oral!!!

@@Stepharchives My main rule at this point is to avoid going to their cubes and stuff to talk casually. I am fine with being friendly in the hallway, and interacting at in-office work events.

When I worked outside the house the last thing I wanted to do was contend with more people. I took my lunch breaks alone, always had my headphones on, reading a book etc. Kept things very simple.

My husband was my work husband for years. We worked together until I retired, for medical reasons. He still works and we loved working together.
