I like watching the old footage of the ladies working at the Palitoy factory making Star Wars stuff. I think you should be in the video pulling it all apart again.
They look great and those new stickers are a nice additional bit of detail. Makes them more individualized. Enjoyed this. If I pick up a speeder bike I’ll be looking to add those stickers too
I like the music you played during your Photoshop session! 😊 The stickers do add a lot of visual interest. Takes it up a notch from toy toward model. Certainly desirable for display.
These were always one of the cooler toys from ROTJ, and always the first to get messed up. I have one socked away that's missing pieces, and now that it's entirely restorable, I think I'll do that. And the stickers are fantastic, you really did a great job with those and with this episode generally. Thanks!
I really enjoy watching your creations: taking damaged toys that many would think are just too far gone and renovating and repairing them, breathing new life in toys that otherwise would be discarded. Wonderful to watch and very inspirational!
Christmas 1983 and where Star Wars toys were concerned, although I was pretty sure I would be getting an AT-ST Scout Walker, (which I happily did), it was actually a Speeder Bike I was hoping for the most, but upon opening my presents.. no Speeder Bike! 😥 Until we visited my Nain and Taid later on and I realised Father Christmas had dropped it off for me there instead! 😀 (Great vid, Dave. Those stickers are quality!)
The most impressive thing here are your photo shop skills - I'm amazed that took only 45 minutes. I could spend two weeks on that and not get it to look right. And the end results of everything are just astonishing. One of my favorite restorations yet.
Thanks. My day job requires me to be quick and fast in Photoshop. I also study a lot of old toys, so you learn what works well when it comes to making retro style stickers.
I like how with parts of the shell which are obviously beyond repair, like the one with the battered side at the beginning of the video, you can also create more realistic "battle damaged" bikes (I believe you have nothing against customizations, but I won't go that far as to say that you could paint it black and make it Vader's bike). Anyway, working with that knife, your mind's attitude, and your kindness ... makes you the veritable McGyver of toys.
Something could certainly be done with those back sections. Even just for blown up ones in dioramas. I don't go anywhere without a Swiss army knife. The most useful tool I own.
Dressing those 3D printed parts and then some paint and they'll look great. The stickers look very nice especially the vent shading and control panel. The bottom chassis needs something, perhaps a dash of red and chrome paint on the hoses and structural bits here and there. Thanks, another great enjoyable video. Tom USA
Great video! I really enjoyed it! Nice fixes and lovely stickers!! I received the two Toy Polloi shirts from Teespring the other day. I can't wait to wear them at the next comic book convention I'll be a guest at!
Love the video! Always wanted a speeder bike as a kid! Never got one, but I really appreciate the effort to show us how to repair one! Also, thanks to Andy for the 3d printing plans!
You can make filing that lego replacement handle bar post a lot easier by cutting off the large end and then putting the leftover round bar in your drill's chuck and using it as a lathe by running the drill and holding the file against it.
That was so awesome, the fact that 3D printing is becoming a solution for missing pieces excites me, I know of some toys I have that definitely need that attention 🤔 Great video 👍🏽✌🏽
Been really looking forward to this vid love the speeder bike and biker scout they were and still my fave been counting the hours at work till break time 👍👍👍
Great video, and it really appreciate your help. I don’t have anywhere near the manual dexterity to successfully install these flaps. I can’t get them on without breaking them, and the one time I did successfully install it, it wouldn’t stay aligned when I operated the flaps, so I had to start over. Maybe the filament I used isn’t as strong or something, but I don’t see this working.
Loved those bikes! Always lament that in lost mine. Awesome stickers. Really brings them to life. I seem to remember they had damage stickers that went on the tip. As regards that that aerial. You probably could have chucked it into your drill and held the file against it to kind of lathe it.
Great job as usual, when you fixed the handle bar on the speeder bike, with the new black peg, I think you should’ve painted them both black. I think they both look better black, looks as if it’s one piece. And not clipped together.
It's sometimes nice to leave a fix so it's obvious. But I may come back to this and do some more work. As log as people get the idea it can be fixed, that's what it's all about.
I was hoping to see a clip of how to get these to stay together. I have 4 speederbikes that won't clip together. I guess the hook is worn down on each and every one of them. Has anyone out there seen a video that addresses that?
Have you ever thought about doing a 'Create your own custom stickers' Photoshop tutorial? I thought I was reasonably PS savvy, but there's stuff that you're doing in a what looks like a couple of clicks (like adding the shading to the circles and the crosshatched lines and stuff) that takes me ages.
Was a bit reluctant to split my bike until I watched this video but now have a bike in numerous undamaged pieces, so, thank you. If you crack the seam and then soak it in wd40, you can free the pegs up without snapping them. The two panels at the rear were a different story unfortunately. Any ideas?
I like that decal sheet - I'm tempted to download it to use, not on speeder bikes - mine are inaccessible behind furniture in the loft - but on a couple of 'Mini Rigs'. That control panel is a very useful decal indeed. You are a master of photoshop, sir. Nice one.
Great work. In the pre special edition version of ANH they do actually use English on the tractor beam control in the Death Star. Plus they refer to X Wings, Y wings not by the aurebesh character. So using ‘warning’ would be OK as our alphabet does exist in the Star Wars universe!
Re-watching this for the umpteenth time. One thing I often find that goes wrong with these is the catch for the "explosion" mechanism wearing out and not holding. I've tried filing it out, to create more to hold onto but results have been mixed. WWTPD? (What Would Toy Polloi Do?)
I normally just swap them out with one from another broken one I have. The rear end of the bike is one part I always seem to have loads of in various states.
It's too bad you have to actually break the bike and glue it together again in order to fix it. I have a bike that doesn't secure the seat down, but I'd rather not break the piece, so I'll just have to leave it as is.
I had the pof 2 speeder bike with luke when i was a kid too young missed them original ones but they are amazing

i have got a original speeder bike toy they are great may the force be with you always
They look great and those new stickers are a nice additional bit of detail.
Makes them more individualized.
Enjoyed this.
If I pick up a speeder bike I’ll be looking to add those stickers too
Dave, the speederbikes with your stickers look absolutely lovely.
Awesome! I dig the custom touch! I always think it’s a bit of a missed opportunity to do all of the repairs without adding that little bit more!
Thank you Sir for these nice custom stickers. Looks awesome on my vintage Speeder Bikes. I wish these came with the toy back then.
Thanks. Glad you like them. Amazing what a few stickers can do to a toy.
Great resto. Tho rear flap files are going to be a life saver for soooooo many speeder bikes.
Thanks. They do work really well. At some point I need to get myself a 3d printer. But space is at a premium, so it's either that or toys 😂

Cannot have one without the other.😀

Cool, thanks!
WOW, those stickers really make better the biker
Really like the battle damage stickers.
Man... _man_ I cannot upvote this hard enough. This is amazing. Makes me want to track down some broken speeder bikes to build a complete one.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it so much!

I think the 3d printed parts would greatly benefit from one or two layers of thick primer and a good paint job.
I'm very proud of you you did a great job with them speeder bikes may the force be with you always

another great video Dave your restorations are amazing
Excellent work on those custom decals, I do one Day want to try to make some.

Exciting. Let me know what the T-shirts are like, I've not seen any from Tee-spring yet.
I got lucky me bought a mint condition bike, boxed in 1994 from local antiques shop, with few other endor boxed stuff, ewok wings and catapult.
I'm way jealous of your MAGNIFICENT Photoshopping skills!
Nice job, Dave (once again)!!! I think a good addition would be the Imperial logo on the nose of the main body (fuselage).
Love the video! Always wanted a speeder bike as a kid! Never got one, but I really appreciate the effort to show us how to repair one! Also, thanks to Andy for the 3d printing plans!
Delvis 78 no worries, I only made them because I’d searched high and low for similar things and couldn’t find anything. Glad to share.
Lovely restoration keep up the videos!
I’m so happy I found this channel 😃 thank you for all the effort you put into the restorations. It’s a sheer joy to watch 👍🏻

Brilliant video and loved the audience at the start with the Ewoks and speeder bike scout looking on in anticipation. Thanks for sharing!

I’m surprised that this vid has only gotten 970 or so likes. Just because of the content of the vid it should be quite popular! Cool vid as usual man!
That goes for all my videos 🤣🖖
great work, man! wow!!! amazing!

Hi, I don't know about the printing as these were sent to me already printed. They are a bit fiddle to fit, but did work for me. Cheers
Great job, REALLY GREAT!!!
Greattings from México and keep going!!!
Thank you! Will do!
When I saw you add lights to the millennium falcon I bought a vintage falcon. Now I want to buy(again) a speeder bike to do it up...
Sorry. I’m a bad influence!
Like so many things in life...a little brute force and a knife!
This is really helpful - thanks!
Could placing the plastic in some boiling hot water possibly make separating the plastic easier and maybe avoid breaking the connector pegs?
Loved those bikes! Always lament that in lost mine. Awesome stickers. Really brings them to life. I seem to remember they had damage stickers that went on the tip.
As regards that that aerial. You probably could have chucked it into your drill and held the file against it to kind of lathe it.
I do that sometimes. But for this it would have taken longer to get my drill set up.

you could also cast resin parts instead of printing

I have a bike that is darker brown with painted weathering, stickers and I think it came with a Luke. I live in the US.....
Yes, that was a POTF2 version from the 90s.
What is the tune used in this episode please
What kind of spring would you use as a replacement?
A compression spring is what you need. Not sure on size as I have never seen one with a spring missing.
@34:46 - YEAH!!!!
May the force be with you

Wonder who does the ‘Welcome to Toy Polloi voice?
He's a friend of Toy Polloi, and quite a big name in voice overs. But I think most people know him from here 😎
can u paint the 3d printed parts to hide the print lines?
Gamer Id yes, but it's time consuming ...lots of sandpaper required .
awesome
What Photoshop program do you use to make the stickers for restoration?
I looked on eBay for a die cast land speeder..yep no windshield..
Do you have flaps models to 3d print? I have a bike but missed that pieces
Links are in the description for the files to print. Cheers
Toy Polloi in the link only see the files for handle bike I can't find the flaps
Click on the makers name, all his files will come up.
@@toypolloi Ok, I found it, thanks a lot, I've been looking for flaps many years
Where did you get the aerial?
ebay
What kind of printer do you use Dave ?
A cheap canon PIXMA inkjet. It's not great but you can still get good results with it. I've had it for at least 7 years and it's still going.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I have an old one 1982 but i Lost the parts from the back an the frontal parts👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

im sure im not alone in hoping you were going to show how to fix the legs!
What issue do you have with the legs?
how to take the leg section apart to replace broken leg and how to reassemble
@@stevenperkins-p5x As I show in the video, just swap out the whole side piece. The rear sections are pretty common.
It's too bad you have to actually break the bike and glue it together again in order to fix it. I have a bike that doesn't secure the seat down, but I'd rather not break the piece, so I'll just have to leave it as is.

It's clearly a love hate thing. I like them and have made my own for a few ships I've worked on.
Hi
How do you fix the legs as mine do not hold the weight well.
