yes the tempo is fast but it's not just speed there is dynamics involved too. And this is why this song is great. Tempo, dynamics and melody all in one song. Pure awesomeness, and in that time they were 20 something old, without significant musical education. Pure geniuses

There will always be other bands but you will be hard pressed to find a band as well rounded

Damage Inc is about 184 BPM ... Master of Puppets is 212 BPM or approx. 7 Downstrokes per second. James Hetfield plays Master in all downstrokes ..... think about that.
I also have been a fan of Metallica since I was a teenager. It is awesome to see someone enjoy and truly appreciate the music I have simply loved my entire life. I was a 16 year old metalhead (1986), Hanging out at the "Swinging Tree" (a tree with a rope you use to swing out into the lake) at Bell Lake and my friend popped Master of Puppets into his ghetto blaster and instantly a mosh pit formed. It was one of those epic summer moments that live in your memory forever. I remember we swam down to the the city rec canoe club released their wharf and floated out to the middle of the lake with my friends, got the ghetto blaster crank that mutha to 11! Rocked the lake for good 5 hours when the cops finally got a boat in the water. Turns out the cops just dragged us to shore and returned the wharf to the canoe club and gave that look of "We're the cops so we should be mad but City Rec manager is watching so we'll act all pissed but that was cool". Best summer ever!

I first heard this song back in 2011 on TV when the Big 4 (Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax) came to Sweden (Gothenburg) and it was broadcasted on one of our public service channels for everyone to watch who wasn't there or couldn't see them live. Metallica owned that show but they are the main attraction after all. It was near the end of an over 2 hours long performance, the sky had gone black, all the lights in the arena were on, 60-65 000 fans who couldn't get enough and they played this song and I don't remember what happened to me through it, but it was incredible. That performance is the best Metallica performance I've seen to date. They were on point and the crowd gave them a night to remember too. It was simply glorious & spectacular.

They played this song for our entire battle/game. they destoryed us.....BUT I STILL LOVE IT !

So, before EVERY game, just before we hit the ice we’d put this song on and LOUD!! The entire team, coaches too, would all sing along...and LOUD! Especially the “Fuck it all and fuck it no regrets!!” part. We’d pop that locker room door open and if we were at an away game? The folks in the stands would just look at us and not say a freaking word till we got on the ice! Great memories!😎👍

well... I just analyzed it, and it fluctuates between 180 & 190 BPM (beats per minute). However... several sites online are saying that it's 91-92 BPM. I think they're counting at half time. Also... Dragon Force's Fallen World is stated to be at 110 BPM. So by my estimation it's actually at ~220 BPM.
I bought Master of Puppets and put it on my brand new Kenwood stereo and almost blew the windows out of my barracks. It blew my mind and has always been my favorite album to this day.
