Autodesk Fusion friend, after the coming four examples of how you can add 3D dimensional text in Autodesk Fusion, earlier known as Fusion 360, I’ll be able to call you nothing less than text master.
Click on the create sketch button in the Autodesk Fusion toolbar and give yourself an invitation to the contextual sketch environment when you click on any construction plane.
Text is found in the create dropdown menu. Read it again, create dropdown menu, you come here when you want to create things.
Don’t bother about type now. That’s for later.
Create a window for your text. This is the playground.
You can type text and mess around with other settings such as typeface, height, font, flip orientation and alignment. Keep it simple and don’t get carried away.
Press keyboard shortcut E when you have gathered courage to create a 3-dimensional text. This is the extrude commando and the 3-dimensional text is a certificate of your success.
In this example you create your text on a face. Not your own face, the face of a body in Autodesk Fusion. You didn’t skip the first example and remember how to add your text playground. Yes.
You can work with extrude in both directions. One direction will add materia, one will cut away.
Added 3-dimensional text like this can be nice if you want to 3D print a personal stamp. Why not it’s a nice personalized present.
A cut away text like this can cast an interesting shadow if you are lucky enough to live in a sunny environment.
Your text is a sketch. In this example we deboss it. Emboss is the commando and deboss is the effect. Impress your friends with this useful commando.
In the fourth example we follow a path, like we do in life. Your path can be a line, a spline or, as in this example, a circular path. The circle of life.
Change type to text on path. Select path and the mess around with placement, fit to path, height, flip etcetera. It’s like in the candy store. Multiple options.
Something undesirable can happen when you extrude this. Easy to solve if you are confident with your text orientation. Extrude this and enjoy your successful project.
