While I haven’t kept up with my note taking like I did two months ago. I was already feeling the effects of a lack of structure in my work and personal life. The problem is that when you’re “surfing” the period of wave you are taking notes, you feel like you’re on the top of the mountain and magically know how to get to any part of the mountain but the moment you slip off even a little you start to lose grip quicker and quicker. Climbing never gets quicker, at best it’s linear speed but losing habit is exponentially faster. So yeah, I agree, “EVERYTHING” begins with a good note taking system

There are several people commenting that the video is too long for its purpose, but I totally disagree with them. The information is too valuable for just one short. Thank you mate!🍻
I appreciate that you took the effort and wrote that in a comment. Unfortunately many people have lost the ability to focus more than 30 seconds due to the proliferation of shorts and reels, and subsequently demand that all content fit their goldfish attention spans. It’s unfortunate, but it will be very easy to compete with these people in business and in the job market.
I disagree, while yes the information is valuable the format of the video is very slow. People want to get to the point about how to actually take notes in a concise way and productive way. The first 30% or so of the video is very slow and I would recommend everyone watch it at 1.5x to 2x speed. This has nothing to do with brain-rot or the proliferation of reels and shorts.
Thanks for this. My note-taking system is getting better all the time thanks to your courses on the topic. The better my intention, the better my notes, as you say.
It's done by design, not out of laziness. The information shared in this video is of high quality and should be consumed with full attention while taking notes. I'm not in favor of creating timestamps for videos which leads to superficial consumption.

You’ve clearly put a lot of thought into notetaking, and the ideas you shared in this video are proof of that. I see so many notetaking adjacent content “missing the point” and forgetting to talk about the big ideas that make taking notes beneficial. And sure, whilst it is possible to get these ideas from just sheer experience, as I imagine you’ve done, a kickstart would be far from detrimental. To build yourself a language that you can use to parse the world that is external to you; to think about every piece of your existence in a holistic manner and in terms of that language; having great reference potential throughout; these are some of the things that really matter. Great video!

I also find taking notes in "the analog way" worked better for me. I think it needs a lot more work than typing in the keyboard. It makes the experience more memorable. I retain more information and for a longer time.
Handwritten notes are my favorite too. The tradeoff is that it's very difficult to find information when you need it. I often take notes by hand and then put them into my system. It's toil, but I'd rather have it searchable.
On a side note. There are a lot of programmers that do not to adequately describe datastructures and programs, especially the factors (modules, procedure) of a program. The goal is that code should be clear of itself. Right?!
Mr Mischa can you make a video about how to connect our notes to an LLM agent that easily analyses and presents/summarises them to us? Thanks a lot for considering this important IT project.
Hello. I'm curious. Did you have a wife, kids, a physical exercise regimen and/or any other significant non dev responsibilities while you were getting dev explicit education and increasing your dev skills? Or was all of your energy and efforts directed toward your goal of becoming employed as a dev ops engineer?
8 hours of sleep, 1-2 hours of exercise a day. No wife, no kids. 0 energy spent on women. 4 hours of volunteer's work a week. It's amazing what you can do when you don't watch netflix & don't play video games.

microsoft edge on a mac is wild.
hey man there was a video about taking notes in a cli based tex tbut i dont remember, I will edit my post so you can check it, i dont remember it is is with nano or with vim
Sehr coole Informationen
Great content. Keep it going.
It was a little bit to long and bit boring. You should focus on showing off this amazing graphics that you have created.
On a side note. There are a lot of programmers that do not to adequately describe datastructures and programs, especially the factors (modules, procedure) of a program. The goal is that code should be clear of itself. Right?!
thanks man i really needed this
I really need this info this week! Thanks
Glad it was helpful!
Like before starting watch
Appreciate that so much ^^ It really helps with the algorithm
Mr Mischa can you make a video about how to connect our notes to an LLM agent that easily analyses and presents/summarises them to us? Thanks a lot for considering this important IT project.
I have this as a future video idea!
@@mischavandenburg would be sublime to watch that video. Thanks in advance
Thank you for this. Very helpful.
Glad it was helpful!
Great video Mischa, can I know what's the font's name? Thanks!
Thank you for this video. For me it worked best if i watch it at 150% speed ;-) (niet lullig bedoeld)
