- Football is a game of speed, agility, and reaction time. Using drills such as the Forward Shuffle Bag Drill is a drill that can help football players with their footwork. The majority of the game for defenders is the ability to move laterally at a fast pace. Offensive players must also be able to move laterally to make cuts and make defenders miss tackles.
When training with Kbands it is important to use them as a resistance training tool. Complete 6-8 reps with them on to increase muscle recruitment, and then take them off for an additional 4-6 reps. Train at 100% intensity for maximal results. Combine this drill with our other Kbands Football Drills on our website for a great workout.

These drills are designed to help football players build speed and agility with kbands in a sport specific fashion. By improving glute muscle activation as well as hip flexor explosiveness with kbands you will be able to work on footwork and athletic mobility while building speed. Im a personal trainer working with mostly athletes. I am working with a semi-professional football player a 6'3' 255lbs Defensive End. We have been working with the bands for only two weeks and he has already turned his 40 from a 4.7 to a 4.67. The bands definitely work! I plan to incorporate them into all of my training sessions with my athletes.

Yes you can do it without the bands, but with the added resistance you can build both glute and hip flexor strength for added stability and explosiveness. The hips are some of the most important muscles when working for speed and lateral quickness. Kbands help enhance muscle stimulation to these areas.
You can do this drill frontwards and backwards. Yes, opening your hips for a sprint is a great addition. Let me know how it goes for you.

Of course you do not need them to complete this drill, but Kbands are great for building your hip strength and lower core. Hip strength has a major impact on agility and speed. By being able to change direction with more hip strength you will see a major change in your speed.

@WilliamTellsShake height makes a difference when it comes to getting leverage for the dig portion of the sprint. Often times taller athletes will raise their chest too soon and not get everything out of their dig. Muscles in the upper body are very important as well. Check the website for our suspension trainer the KB-Duo. We have been starting to make several upper body strengthening videos with that you can use to get stronger up top.

You can use many of the same drills with less resistance. Kbands come in two different sizes. (youth and adult)
We have athletes as young as 8 and 9 using the bands. There are all different levels of resistance to match each athletes strength levels.

As soon as you are completely released by your doctor I would suggest working on sport specific football drills to get your body ready for the change of direction element of the sport. No. Ankle weights will give you a swinging feeling. You want to build your hips and core during sport specific movements just as Kbands provide for athletes. Ankle weights can actually slow your feet down.
I would not advice this. The lateral resistors are designed to go around your ankles. I have seen athletes use these in place of Kbands only to find the bands are not stretched right away. The bands are to long. You should feel the resistance as soon as the bands are clipped. This is why kbands are designed to fit the needs of athletes.

As for the drill you will not see the same strength benefits in your hips by doing this drill without kbands. Now that doesn't mean do not do this drill because you do not have kbands. It simply means you will not get the same strength and explosive benefits when doing this drill without resistance.

where could u get the bands
Hi man I got a question for you, I am just about to start playing foot ball for my college. I have never played before but they said they would try me out, coz I'm agile and fast. I used to run track. I start training in 2 months after my ACl heals completely. I have started watching lots of "how to videos" and i have started strengthening my fingers the most because I'm gonna be a slot receiver, any tips on what i should do next? I am not worried on how hard the practices is going to be.

Can you track your progress with quickness exercises like this ?
Basically is quickness something that you can accurately measure and improve ?
For example you can track weight gain and muscle grown so is this something you can track.
Have someone time you. That's probably the only way to measure your improvement. As far as whether or not it's possible to improve your quickness, you absolutely can. Just look at the track records of sprinters, they all get faster with training and time. Now, some would argue that there is probably a genetic limit to how fast you can be, but even if that is true, you'd have to train like mad to ever reach it. Like, harder than any training you'll ever actually do. Given that fact, there is probably always going to be room for you to measurably improve with proper training.
+Adrian AceofSpade there are agility drills you can perform which will give you an idea of how quick you are. 5-10-5, T-drill are two you can perform today. Granted you need someone to time you, but those drills will give you a good base on where you are at.

A weight vest really isn't going to have the same impact that kbands offer. Kbands allow you to train with natural range of motion with resistance to your glutes and hip flexors. These muscles are the most important muscles when it comes to lateral quickness and linear speed. A weight vest more or less is a conditioning tool weighting down your body.
Forwards* .. Would I benefit from doing this drill backwards, into a backpedal, and then turning my hips and opening up to a sprint?

I loved ur video the thing is that I use to practise drills everyday but when I practise at morning I use to feel upset is because my family use to poke me saying that u can't become a footballer so by hiding I use to go for practising football but no body motivates me that u can do better sometimes I use to cry sitting outside my family member says that there is no oppurtunity in football in India they say that u sit on shop and earn money. they just except this thing from me
You should study over all. And in india you get no chance. Best countries for football are here in europe

If anything use the working out and exercising as an excuse to #1 Feeling Better, #2 Looking like a stud #3 for all the people you are strictly stick to the books research how Regular exercise boosts brain health. I am all for schooling I have a degree my self. You can have the best of both worlds. Remember, Its all about consistency.

Do you have any training videos on how to use k-bands to help with prevention/treatment of shin splints? im placing an order today for k-bands. I just turned 30 and after 10 years of not playing soccer, im now getting back alot of my speed and agility but my shins are KILLING ME..
David Bowes shin splits are often caused by a muscle imbalance or tightness in your calf. Roll ice cups on your shins massaging them. Also take a foam roller or something hard like a golf club and grind your calves out. You'll be surprised at all the knots you find.
I also had bad shin splits due to muscle imbalance due to working hard at increasing my vertical jump and increasing my speed. Try Toe raises. just search toe raises for shin splints. I'm 31 trying to get back in shape as well. Do what was suggested above with the foam roller, because I know it works with the addition to the Toe raises. Good luck. --- P.S. kbandstraining Rocks!!!
How does a weight vest not allow for 'natural range of motion' for the hips? Ur product will restrict ROM more so than a vest. Vests can produce great results for speed, quickness and vert. Neither product should be used for more than a few weeks consecutively before going back to strictly bodyweight SAQ drills and a good weight training regime
whats the difference in putting the k bands right above your knee instead of on your ankles ?
+liz alaniz the ankles restrict your movements. You will fall if you try to sprint with them around your ankle. With Kbands above your knee you have full range of motion resistance training.
