Good stuff. Never thought about the challenges of joining a new team. I met people at stick n puck over 20 yrs ago and still play w some of them. I think that’s a great way to practice and network at the same time
For me I was lucky I would get a call from someone looking for a defenseman that was reliable. Once you get your foot in the door the hockey community is very welcoming
As a 18 year old vegas local, I was sort of scared to try and start playing/join a team because of being kind of shunned because of my skill. But these videos and all your others helped me feel alot better about playing and wanting to join!
I have played street hockey with my sister when we were growing up I have always played goaltender I haven't skate for along time can you Gave me some goalie tips for me since I haven't played a very long time and I still do want to play has goalie......I have been to alot of hockey games I have always watched How the goalies skate and saving the pucks
I just Had to drop in and tell you how Very Grateful I am for all you do to help inform and Inspire us beginner's! Here's an example: I only started playing in January of this year. Taking in all the PS and park district classes that I could. Of course I Loved it but am still learning and mediocre. In my mind, I kept saying " It'll probably be a year at least until I'm decent enough to be on a team". I didn't mind that too terribly, we all have to work to learn, lol. Then I watched this/ your video..... Your supportive statements and encouragement to go out and try despite still learning Really gave the confidence and boost to look for a team Home!! Now I'm trying my first team Home in the WCHL and have been to two scrimmages. Because of YOU 😊 Thanks Ever So Much!!!!!!! Your videos and effort are appreciated
Yay I am so glad! How is it going? (I know you posted this months ago but YT hid some comments from me for some reason) Are you playing more? How are you liking it?
I have seen it like that in so many places! You really have to have a thick skin (I really don't but I try to be nice so they like me :) I hope you were able to find your own community.
@@beginneradulthockey I don't really have thick skin if i'm being honest, so i've just been rude back lol. Im not new to the sport though. I've been playing since I could walk but I quit for a long time. Seems to be coming back to me easy enough. People are starting to be a lot more polite and so am I. I just wanted to point out hockey players can be on some locals only shit. My advice is don't get intimidated. Look at them when they are in their regular clothes and you will realize they are a bunch of dorks. Then just go have fun, be polite to those that are polite to you and eventually others will warm up to you. At the end of the day we are all there because we love the game not because we are looking for friends.

It’s crazy how hard it is to join a team in some towns! I’m glad you found your crew.

That is very true! Sometime's it's hard to get your foot in the door but once you do, you will be there for life :)

I am so glad! It is really scary at first, but it's such a welcoming community. Let me know if you ended up playing!

I am not a goalie but let me see if I can get a friend to help me with a goalie video. Good luck on getting back into it!

Thank you. ❤
You're welcome 😊
The hockey players aren’t very welcoming where I live. They got some strong locals only vibes going. They aren’t even polite lol.
