Also if you are at this level play with the knowledge that most of the people you are playing against are learning too.... DOnt get mad if someone runs into you, they probably could get out of the way
During your first game, if you find yourself with the puck over the red line. Shoot it in the O-zone to get pucks “Deep” - the more experienced players will chase it down in the zone. It’s an easy beginner move that your team will appreciate. “Get pucks deep, get pucks on the net”.
That's a good tip! It also helps your team change lines if needed. Just don't get used to flinging the puck every time you get it - I have gone through phases of that.
@@beginneradulthockey @beginneradulthockey yes why not watching hockey behind glass or from the seat is not the same as watching it from the bench if we talk about real game not the practice. Remember old days when us as a kids made like 100 practices before we actually play against some team
Oh yeah, so true! When I first started, I went to practices - and watched the games but did not play in any until the very end of the season. Just make sure you are following rules (for instance, USA Hockey will make you wear a helmet and still have your player registration to sit on the bench). OR one thing I like to do is volunteer to be the scorekeeper because it gets you back there too.
@@beginneradulthockey Depends if you count the quick grunt and pondering life decisions while on the ground...otherwise it's 1) Sticklean 2) one leg halfway stand/groan 3) Other leg halfway stand/groan...with sometimes a back stretch.... 🤣
About to take my first step in to adult hockey at 39

Great video. Thanks so much! Helped out a lot!
I am so glad! Let us know if you have any other questions :)
hockey gears get u 95% covered but you always fall on that 5%😅😅really need heavy pads on the side butt. hurts when i fall back.
Of course :) I always fall on that one place with no padding too.
Yes, keep your shifts short! A personal pet-peeve of mine.
Me too! I am glad someone agrees :)
I've turned 60 and I don't fear falling... I just feel the pain!! (plus it seems I always fall on the spot that hurts!)
Of course! I swear that breezers/pants have no padding in the one place I always fall. I am glad that doesn't make you fear falling though!
Show up at warm up and watch rest of the game from bench
Do you mean before you start really playing?

When I fall....it feels like I get up in 3 phases in order to get going again. 😁
ha I totally get that! What are your 3 phases?
