Thank you. Great tips. One thing that I started to make sure I have in my bag for the season is a helmet repair kit. It comes with helmet screws and other bits and pieces that are on your helmet. Also, an extra chin strap. Last season it came in handy as 1 player broke their chin strap and another player lost a screw.
Great video. I don't play on a team or league. I have been playing with a weekly pickup club in Socal. For those who can't find or commit on a team. These clubs are a great way to get on the ice and have a fun scrimmage. Usually it costs $35 a game. Added up it's the same price as a league fee for a single player. Or close. Goalies are usually free.
If you're showering after games/practice (which you should, if possible, imo), then it's a good idea to keep two towels in the bag; reason is you'll likely end up airing the one you used during the previous session and forget to put it back in the bag, and you don't want to end up using a used jersey as a towel .. not that I'm speaking from experience :) Also worth mentioning is a small screwdriver with a couple of small replaceable bits, a small pair of scissors, and a spare set of laces (same specs as the ones you're using).
Well if I say I’m going to a game n something happens n I can’t then suck it up, if I’m not there something bad happened and I don’t need to go on my phone to let a beer league know
If something bad happened, then of course people will understand. But if you check in (especially if it's 1-2 hours before a game) and then you just say "Meh I don't feel like it," then they don't have to suck it up. Nothing gets people uninvited faster than constantly not showing up when you have checked in. Just don't check in if you don't want to go - that is totally fine.
Plenty of great tips every time. Thank you for the videos, Starting for the first time this season.
That is so exciting! Let us know how it goes :)
It's a perfect time to tape up sticks during teams meetings btw. ;)
haha nice.
You rock!! This is a great channel I just found. Excited to learn!
Great! The season is coming soon!

Where in socal
That's nice! Sometimes just going to a pick-up is fun, especially if you don't know if you can make it to all games. Have fun!
Currently waiting for my local league to roll out registration for full-timers and spares. Looking forward to my first full season.

Yes great tip! I meant to add that (I *always* have 2 towels in my bag).
Religiously use Funkaway on my gear after every game and hang up. Helmets have expiration dates.
