Gotta say, after just buying a 2018 manual GoldWing , these recommendations make perfect sense. Safety. Utility. Nothing frivolous. That, along with the how-to videos, takes the ownership experience of this world-class motorcycle to a new level. I ride a slew of other bikes, but none have the practical user support of this bike, thanks to you.
The very first thing for me was replacing the foot pegs with floorboards and adding highway pegs to stretch out. Second a better horn. For me using the apple play with Waze on my phone is way better than any garman. Waze will direct you around any and all traffic jams or slow downs and will alert you to hazards in the road ahead. Brought to you live by drivers ahead of you. There is no need for a modulated brake light as you can get simple LED bulbs that give 3 flashes and then on steady. Only $10 and a bulb swap.
Heated grips, at least one power outlet. I like Bead Rider seat, Garmin Zumo(pick your favorite model). Map holder. Grip puppies. The trunk fairing with the brake light that works out to eye level for cars behind you. The Sequential mirrors are an accessory I like but getting them screwed down tight didn’t work. The right side fell out and I have one mirror left. I’ve only ever had a replacement seat from Corbin and I wouldn’t do that for the money he wants.
Money no object….Traxxion Dynamics suspension. Transformed the bike..which I thought handle great before…and is amazing now. Wingsoft seat mod is also the best starting point to start with…value proposition that should work for most, I’m 6’2” 230…worked for me.
Chris, I’m surprised that you didn’t mention any version of highway pegs. I had a 2018 Tour model, and after 50,000 miles, I traded it in for a 2020 Tour model. The upgrades I removed from the 2018 and put on the 2020 were the F4 20” windscreen, and my Rivco highway pegs. I have made 8 1000 plus mile rides, in one sitting, with just these two accessories. The Rivco pegs absolutely help when touring long distance, and keep my legs from getting stiff and sore. Great video…. Keep them coming!
The Rivco pegs almost made the list. They are my favorite highway pegs, even though I removed them because I need quick access to my engine covers for video production.
Clearwater lights are the number one safety accessory for me on any bike!! I have a brand new set that I’m going to put on my 2021 DCT this weekend! Great video Sir.
Hi Cruiseman, thx for your 11 tips. I would not use nr 10 as an extra nav is not necessary in my opinion. I use Apple carplay in combination with Scenic motorroutes. It works really fantastic and is always up to date via your phone. You can also use it off line. Further I would never go without an extra (flashing)breaking light on my trunk in combination with the rack.
My list of must have addons that I would highly recommend and I had installed on my 2018 Tour DCT would be, and in no particular order: F4 windscreen (adjustable wind/rain protection) Honda upper and lower wind deflectors (Wind/rain protection) Centramatic Wheel Balancers (never have to deal with weights or beads again) Front fender extender (helps prevent front engine cover damage from kicked up road debris & tar) Luggage Rack (Provides an anchor point to tie down items on passenger seat) Third brake light (preferably Run/Turn/Brake function) Utopia rider back rest (rider comfort) Fog/Driving lights (extra visibility) Honda Home Link (convenience factor for garage door opener) Goldstrike arm rests with drink holder socket (passenger comfort and convenience) Goldstrike cupholders and handlebar mount (rider and passenger convenience) Tiedown brackets (a must have securing point if you need to trailer/tow the motorcycle) Electrical isolation distribution block (electrical safety) Dual camera system (silent witness black box if shit happens) (I had the INNOVV K2) Goldstrike 3-way adjustable highway pegs (comfort)
I agree with a lot of your items, especially the Centramatics. These great devices are always totally overlooked by UA-cam bloggers, etc. regarding what to add to your gold wing.
Andy from Kisan said it had to be a problem in the bike. I have had an issue last year with it, but not since then. I was a little aggravated when I asked about a return and he pretty much said that it wasn't there product and that's not going to happen. Another thing, Andy said he would call me back that day or the next. Both times he never did and after a couple of days I had to call him.
I see you like lights, but you don’t truly like hitting the road. Because most people I talked to say you need to get Goldstrike 3-Way Adjustable Highway Pegs for those long rides. I know from experience if you’re on the road for more than 1 hour, you need road pegs! By the way, I ride a 2021 Gold Wing and I love it, but I need to get me some highway pegs! Keep up the good work Cruiseman. 😎
My top-ten list of accessories includes a Yellow Box speedo re-calibrator for an accurate odometer, and a Hobbs meter (12v for Cessnas and other makes) for servicing items by elapsed hours rather than mileage.
After having followed you and others I respect in the new Goldwing world, I have many of the same mods to my 2019 DCT Tour. For me, the high mounted rear brake light is a must. I chose the Goldstrike version and am very happy with it. After my hinge mounting points on my 2003 destroyed themselves over time because I had the heavy Honda Trunk Spoiler/light, i was very cautious to add the Honda Trunk Rack and light. The Goldstrike is very light. I also have the Pathfinder Cowl lights, Muth Mirrors, AddOn sequential turn signals, Honda Upper Air Deflectors. I was also fortunate enough to ride down to John Connolly's place last December and get his Wingsoft Mod. What a nice guy. My ass has felt oh so much better after that cost effective mod. Before Pathfinder LED came out with their Hub, I installed the Showchrome Fuse Block and have most everything running to that with the aid of the WAGO Lever Nuts. Those are awesome. Keep up the great content and my wife and I would like to buy you lunch the next time we are down your way.
I have all but the Seq Turn signal mirrorsbut do have a seq turn signal ligh bar attached to my Trunk rack.. While I don't have the same Manufacture of the other items, I have them.
Not sure why YT recommended this to me but here I am on a Bobber and just got done doing a 2200 mile trip with friends that are even crazier on home built hard tail choppers. Perhaps when I'm older, this video will make more sense :) Definitely understand the visibility though. 100% agreement with the idiots glued to their phones in their cars!
The brake modulator is definitely a good safety accessory for the rear end of the bike, the head light modulator is also a good safety accessory, however I will increase my frontal visibility one more notch with the addition of a YELLOW driving or fog lights...There are lots of white LED lights that are flooding the roads/freeways these days these days and making my bike standout with a bright yellow/amber light I think will make me standout among the rest...thanks for sharing

Great video. For me as of now....visibility is the number one and as soon as I got my 2020, I went to town and got it all lighting kits all around. The headlight flashing is the best I have ever installed. After lighting kits, HWY pegs, F4 windscreen and Utopia backrest.

Hooo Boy that’s almost en to add another mustang to the stable? I love the 6th Gen Goldwing and am seeking a fair deal on one very soon. Looks like bike # 14 before spring! Easy Riding Mr. Cruise
Good job, Chris. I have several of your additions but, as a few others mentioned, the highway pegs save my rear end and the best I've used is Mic-O-Pegs. I love the way they are tucked up out of the way when not being used and pivot down in to position when I need them. Very much like riding in a saddle. You can actually lift your rear off the seat for a while. Added to that is my AirHawk seat cushion. Without that I'd have to have the seat modified as you did.

@@dennism665 with Gel? Interesting that must be a step above? My 1290 SA is more confortable than the GW and I also add a sheep skin! It looks funny but hey can no longer ride without!
Hello Hello DR. Cruiseman , Let start off with a very big Thank you for all the information that you provide to all of us in GW world, and I just made one of the BIGGEST INVESTMENT IN MY 2018 PEARL WHITE GOLDWING TOUR. YOUR MAINTENANCE VIDEO SERIES ALL I CAN SAY IS JOB WELL DONE. Thanks so much HS3
Great selection Chris. I have all but 4 you mention. Did not see a link to Wingsoft in your product list. Of course I gave saved thousands in labor and time swing your videos for installs and all my maintenance so far at 21k on my 19 DCT Tour. 👍
I'm not one for "farkles", or as my brother would say, "it looks like he drove through J.C. Whitney with the crap magnet turned on". The best accessory I have installed on my 2020 is my Hartco custom seat. It's got the factory compatible heater and they make their own fiberglass seat pans. All day comfortable and easier to take off and put on than the factory seat, and I still have the factory seat if I want to sell the bike. I don't regret that purchase.
Thanks Cruiseman! I haven't pulled the trigger on either of the skid plates you've recently reviewed. I feel like this is going in the right direction, and agree with others that the front brackets should be pre-bent and should be a heavier gauge stainless. Also the mounting hardware is not the best for the application/ Nylok nuts would handle the vibration better.
New subscriber working on getting a GW DCT. I like your content hence why I subscribed. Really surprised though that a Traxxion Dynamics belly pan engine guard was not in the list. I know it isn't as nice looking as some of the stuff in your list but at the risk of ruining your $12 to $13 thousand engine it would be my first choice. I plan on getting pretty much everything on your list plus an Ultimate seat. Thanks for the vids and when I do get my wing I will be ordering your maintenance videos. Thanks from Ontario Canada.
Light modulators are illegal in most of Europe - particularly headlight ones which is unfortunate. One thing you don't mention, nor do most other bloggers is a rear (red) fog light. Foglights have to be fitted to cars by law (drivers switching them on is another thing) but for some reason, they have never been a requirement on motorcycles, which given their size and lack of lights generally - compared to a car/truck, doesn't really make sense.
Great videos 👍 I have a question : I am planning to buy a GL and I would like to listen your opinion which for sure will help me in my Decision. Buy a brand new GL 2023 or a. Second hand GL 2021 or 2022 in a good shape with 15000-20000 miles but saving some thousands of $?
Do you ride much at night? I am thinking the Muth signals would be rather annoying at night. My Chevy pickup has turn signals on the mirrors and they are super annoying at night.
I had just installed the Kisan tailBlazer before leaving on a Labor Day trip. The first thing was my cruise control didn't work. Once I got back, I uninstalled it and the cruise started working again. Then I installed again to make sure that was causing my problem and once again the cruise control stopped working. I called Kisan and they said they would look into it and call back. I'm still waiting for their call.
I've always felt comfortable on my stock 2018 Goldwing dct. I've taken round trips from Omaha to Colorado springs and have been about as comfortable as you can expect on a motorcycle. I tend to stick to the interstate as opposed to highways that way I can get up and walk about every 2nd or 3rd rest area, gas is always only an exit or two away and I can set set the cruise control slightly above the speed limit and eat up miles quickly. I also find that short frequent walks on a long trip keeps my level of alertness high. I could see considering some of the lighting options though, there is no such thing as being too noticeable on a bike.
Do you need the Can Bus Pathfinder LED system if you have the Goldstrike connection system? I did see in one of your later videos that there was an issue with the Can Bus system as it was causing issues. Thanks fore your videos and Garage Videos!
Hi Cruiseman. I have a 2024 Goldwing with DCT. I was looking up the Tailblazer module for my motorcycle on their website and it doesn’t have anything newer than , I think 2021. Are they still in business?
I only turn the head light modulator off if I'm following the same car for a long time on a hwy with no cross traffic or on coming traffic on a two lane where the drivers coming at me might be thinking of passing on the wrong side of the road. They made the law allowing modulators because they determined it would save lives so I ride with mine on 99% of the time. Getting these laws on the books isn't easy so I figure they must have stats to prove they save lives.
@@cruisemansgarage what do you mean by not as reliable ? I have a 2019 wing and I’ve never had a problem using GPX files made on base camp or tyre . They load into the bike easily and work just fine !
It was a close call. Mine requires the addition of the luggage rack, which I do not consider essential. If I had the PathfinderLED spoiler trunk light I probably would have included that.
I'm in the Navy and sometime need to carry large bags on my bike. Without the luggage rack, I would not be able to place the bag on the rear seat and use bungies to tie off from the passenger grab rails to the luggage rack. Also the Goldstrike arm rests with the sockets for the drink holder is helpful as I can also hook a cargo net bungie in that hole and to the luggage rack. I also had the the third brake light from Honda. I just wish it would have been a brake /run/turn light instead of just a brake light.
What about traxxion dynamics kick stand pad. Prevents the motorcycle from sinking into soft ground or hot asphalt and falling over. And it flows with the bikes look.
I love this informative site. Have one quick question: I own a 2021 Goldwing and can't stand the stock OEM seat. Which seat do you highly recommend to purchase~ the Ultimate or John Conly's Wing Soft seat ?
Cruisman~ Thank you for your prompt response. 👌 Your input is GREATLY appreciated. Your site is one of the most informative and BEST that I have seen. I stay up nights playing catch-up reviewing your videos. Keep up the GREAT work.
Hi Cruse man. I bought tail light and I love it. Everyone who follows me says it's very safe. I want to buy Utopia back rest but it's never available. I bought the Honda one but it's useless because I'm not tall enough to reach it. Do you have contact with this company? I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate you on the quality of the details in your videos..... Thank you very much !
If I had it to do over again. I would do the comfort bars and hwy pegs, my amber electrical connection fog lights and clearwater ericas. All the other lights and china crap would not be done again.
I do subscribe to your channel I'm sorry but I cannot find the scosche battery jump starter and also air compressor and also the battery maintainer wire that hooks to the scosche wiring can you please give me a answer if there's a kit where I can get all three or a website I need all three please and thank
When seeking the heel-toe floorboard for the 2021 tour, I get no match or there has not been an after-market product as of yet. My 06 was great but the new bike seems like I'm missing something without the heel and toe floorboard. Help????
why does honda offer the goldwing as the ultimate touring bike, but lacks the option to add a tour pack rack for suitcase/carrybag like a harley touring?
Honda does sell a luggage rack for the Goldwing as an optional accessory. However, I would like to see something a little more versatile than the one offered, as it's a little small.
There is no scheduled service at 600 miles. Check your manual. The 600 mi point is the “break in” after which you are not limited to speed, acceleration or rpm
Cruiseman are you able to link up the Garmin XT to the bike’s communications system? Hence you can get directions through the bike - I was able to do this with my 08. Or is it just through your helmet?
I’m looking forward to your video on linking the Garmin XT to my BT helmet. I do okay with the bike GPS but miss all the features the XT unit will give the rider over the bikes GPS’s limited scope. I hope this can be done while keeping rider / passenger communication as well as the bikes music and Apple Play accessibility.
I just ordered the Tailblazer light modulator that you suggested. Can you tell me if these are safe to install with the CanBus system without any other accessories? Can I install them without a power accessory hub?
So your thoughts between your 5/11/2020 Ultimate Seat and recommended Wingsoft to the OEM beside cost? Ultimate worth the cost or less cost of Wingsoft?
In re: Your item 10: Garmin Zumo XT: I would suggest not Garmin Base Camp application but using Garmin Explore to create off bike waypoints and routes that will be transferred into the XT via Garmin Drive application. The benefit is using your smart phone during a trip or before trip coffee break--set your route or route waypoints that will become transferred to your XT when returning to bike and powering up the XT. Base Camp application is not usable on the road with your smartphone. Just my thoughts. Your XT has icon under “where to” then “explore” to aid syncing of data if necessary and viewing/selection of waypoints and routes. 🤔
Interesting. I find Trio Planner to be very good, and use it both on the bike and off, frequently instead of BaseCamp. Haven’t tried your Garmin Explore method. Thanks. I’ll try it.
Mark, not sure about the light modulators. You might have to check with Kisan or the local department of transportation. They are legal in Canada and USA.
Missing Traxxion suspension. Honda still went cheap on the suspension, like last gen. A flagship bike that rides on a rubber shock bumb stop is not acceptable when they got so much right on the bike. Windshield, seat, suspension.
Absolutely not true on polycarbonate windshields. The Ammonia in windex breaks down the poly and will eventually cloud your windshield. It may not happen the first few times you use it but it will eventually. Most polycarb windshields are better served by using something like Plexus.
@@NRALifeMbr With the F4 windscreen, and their protective coating they bake into the shield, most glass cleaners will not discolor the plastic. However, I personally do not purchase cleaners with ammonia in them as that chemical tends to react with other chemicals if your not paying attention.
Just recently bought a 2010 Goldwing, loving it. I see Japan requires windscreen wipers on them and as an all weather rider I'm keen to put some on. Where can I get them?
Farkles, I don’t like them, but most motorcyclist do. Your “typical” Winger looks like a Shriner’s parade. If you need wind deflectors, buy a Civic. If you can’t sit on an OEM seat, buy a Buick. I’m riding my 3rd Wing. I love the bike, but I’m embarrassed by Wingers who feel the need to attach fuzzy animals and all manner of weird crap to their bikes.
@Peter Conway Not every person is the same and not every person has the same tolerances as you. I ride year-round. I've ridden in temperatures as low as 17*F. Having proper wind protection is essential for me. Plus not being beaten all day by wind blasting me in the head and chest is one less thing to become fatigued by on long trips. As for the seats, no one ass is the same. I, like many others, find the stock seat unbearable after an hour or so in the saddle. As for those that dress their rides up with more chrome, to each to their own. It's their money, they can do as they want with it. Ride your own ride, don't worry about everyone else does with their ride.

Good job bro…I need your expertise…..again.
Hi Cruiseman, I just ordered an F4 windshield order number is 9653 for my 2022 Goldwing. Thanks for your reviews!
And I did an order for the Muth sequential mirrors and Show Chrome wiring block thingamajiger a couple days ago. Winshield is on its way!
Thanks for the video Cruiseman. Lots to consider. Stay safe and ride safely.
Thanks for everything from Orlando florida I have my 2022 last Monday you help so much
The trunk lights are a great must have if you leave early in the morning, I install an led tube ligth on my GL1800 2002
This video was made before the Traxxion engine guard was available. I am re-working this video now and should have an updated video soon.
Great videos 👍
I have a question :
I am planning to buy a GL and I would like to listen your opinion which for sure will help me in my Decision.
Buy a brand new GL 2023 or a. Second hand GL 2021 or 2022 in a good shape with 15000-20000 miles but saving some thousands of $?
FYI Wingsoft website link is incorrect.....Great video/s. Thanks for all you do on your channel as it greatly appreciated.
Do you ride much at night? I am thinking the Muth signals would be rather annoying at night. My Chevy pickup has turn signals on the mirrors and they are super annoying at night.
Love from DeKalb Mississippi USA 🇺🇸
I had just installed the Kisan tailBlazer before leaving on a Labor Day trip. The first thing was my cruise control didn't work. Once I got back, I uninstalled it and the cruise started working again. Then I installed again to make sure that was causing my problem and once again the cruise control stopped working. I called Kisan and they said they would look into it and call back. I'm still waiting for their call.
Now that's a new one on me. I have not heard of that before.
When will the 2022 model be announced?
Merci!
Thanks Stephan
On my brand new 2021 tour first product I added was the path Blazer and trailblazer. The second was his sponsors product.
Do you need the Can Bus Pathfinder LED system if you have the Goldstrike connection system? I did see in one of your later videos that there was an issue with the Can Bus system as it was causing issues. Thanks fore your videos and Garage Videos!
If you have the Goldstrike Power Bar, that is all you need. It will protect the Canbus.
Hi Cruiseman. I have a 2024 Goldwing with DCT. I was looking up the Tailblazer module for my motorcycle on their website and it doesn’t have anything newer than , I think 2021. Are they still in business?
Can I get highway pegs for my 2023 goldwing?
Great stuff!!! Can’t wait to get a new gold wing
Cruiseman, I rely on your advice and good sense. Thank you for all the work you do on our behalf. I'm saving up for your video series!
Getting these laws on the books isn't easy so I figure they must have stats to prove they save lives.
another great Cruiseman video ! Thanks.
Do you have a set of videos día a Goldwing 2001? I’m interested
Yes. Http://video.cruisemansgarage.com
Tengo problema con las luzes de 2006 tracerad un trek 1800
I'd add in Centramatic wheel balancers ....
The Goldwings built-in satnav works with GPX routes made on basecamp
Yes, they can work, but not as reliably.
@@cruisemansgarage what do you mean by not as reliable ? I have a 2019 wing and I’ve never had a problem using GPX files made on base camp or tyre . They load into the bike easily and work just fine !
Hey cruise man I am restoring a 1983 Honda Goldwing Aspencade 1100 where can I find parts because I can’t find anybody who works on old gold wings
Great video, but what about the third stoplight on the trunk? I think it's essential also.
It was a close call. Mine requires the addition of the luggage rack, which I do not consider essential. If I had the PathfinderLED spoiler trunk light I probably would have included that.
@@cruisemansgarage Thank you for the answer, you're right about that.
A good product, but not what I would consider "essential"> Unless you park on hit asphalt regularly.
Great videos, thanks. Did I miss the link to the Honda trunk light?
I love this informative site. Have one quick question: I own a 2021 Goldwing and can't stand the stock OEM seat. Which seat do you highly recommend to purchase~ the Ultimate or John Conly's Wing Soft seat ?
I am currently riding on John's WingSoft.
I think you should have had the Scosche PowerUp 700A. That thing is a life saver.
Maybe I need to do my "next 5 essential" add-ons. I was trying to focus on products that actually install on the Goldwing.
That’s a lot of lights!!!
Merci pour les informations
Bonsoir

The best accessory for any GoldWing is a bungee cord mounted teddy bear. Any real Wing owner has it!
I thought he was going to say “if you’re comfortable on the stock seat, then you don’t have an ass; just back and legs”😂😂😂
Where do I buy the trail blazer for my 2018 gold wing??
You r the best ...excellent information..
Thank you for good information and english.
Many of the pages are obsolete and others the products are not available.
When seeking the heel-toe floorboard for the 2021 tour, I get no match or there has not been an after-market product as of yet. My 06 was great but the new bike seems like I'm missing something without the heel and toe floorboard. Help????
I have not seen this either.
Do you have maintenance videos for servicing 2005 goldwings ? If yes how can I get a copy of them ? Thankyou !
Yes. Http://video.cruisemansgarage.com
What brand of scissor jack lift was that? Shown during removal of front wheel..

why does honda offer the goldwing as the ultimate touring bike, but lacks the option to add a tour pack rack for suitcase/carrybag like a harley touring?
Honda does sell a luggage rack for the Goldwing as an optional accessory. However, I would like to see something a little more versatile than the one offered, as it's a little small.
When you change out the modules, does that affect your manufacturer warranty’s?
Cruiseman, just got my 1st service at 600 miles with a cost of $300 at my local Honda dealer- Is that about right??
What’s to be done at 600 miles? Oil change, and…? I just got my GW yesterday and haven’t read that far in the owner’s manual.
@@jandrewsmith3992 dealer inspection and fluid change
First service isn’t due until 4000 miles.
There is no scheduled service at 600 miles. Check your manual. The 600 mi point is the “break in” after which you are not limited to speed, acceleration or rpm
I'm just wondering where the bike on the front picture is. Was it a painted bike or what color is it ?
The bike on the thumbnail is a composite that I created in Photoshop. Unfortunately, not a real color.
@@cruisemansgarage Too bad, it's a great color, wish Honda takes a good look.. Thanks for your fast response.
Cruiseman are you able to link up the Garmin XT to the bike’s communications system? Hence you can get directions through the bike - I was able to do this with my 08. Or is it just through your helmet?
It cannot be linked to the bike, but can be linked to your bluetooth headset. I am about to do a video tutorial on this.
Yes, they are.
@@cruisemansgarage thank you sir!
Why have no one came up with after market floorboard for the 2021 tour Gold Wing
I thought Big Bike Parts had floorboards?
I believe Goldstrike has floor boards for the 18+ Goldwing.
So your thoughts between your 5/11/2020 Ultimate Seat and recommended Wingsoft to the OEM beside cost? Ultimate worth the cost or less cost of Wingsoft?
I JUST recently ( today ) asked that same question. Wish he had answered that since you asked it 8 mos. ago. 😒
Great Job. I have many of these items on my list
Are these accesories allowed in Europe?
Mark, not sure about the light modulators. You might have to check with Kisan or the local department of transportation. They are legal in Canada and USA.
No modifications of lights allowed in Europe.
Well done.
Missing Traxxion suspension. Honda still went cheap on the suspension, like last gen. A flagship bike that rides on a rubber shock bumb stop is not acceptable when they got so much right on the bike. Windshield, seat, suspension.
What do you mean Windex on your oem windshield can ruin it? you can use Windex on literally any surface
Windex and paper towels?
I'm In Australia
Farkles, I don’t like them, but most motorcyclist do. Your “typical” Winger looks like a Shriner’s parade. If you need wind deflectors, buy a Civic. If you can’t sit on an OEM seat, buy a Buick. I’m riding my 3rd Wing. I love the bike, but I’m embarrassed by Wingers who feel the need to attach fuzzy animals and all manner of weird crap to their bikes.
All those plastic chromed add ons rally crack me up as well.
