I've had my 2024 Goldwing (non-DCT) for one week and knew after my first ride that the windshield had to go. I'm 6'1" and based on your review I bought the F4 20" clear. My other bike is a 1999 Valkyrie with straight pipes, not a quiet bike. But with the stock Goldwing windshiled, it was 400 miles of torture to ride my new pride and joy. I couldn't even hardly tell the radio was on with the stock windshield running down the Highway. My F4 arrived today, and my wife said I was like a kid at Christmas as I kept looking for the delivery truck all day long. I also went the "DEMO" route and saved a bunch on the F4. It was $266 delivered and it looks perfect. Thanks for helping me find the right windshield, I LOVE IT.
I have 32,000 on my F4 20” Windshield and it is still optically clear as day 1 and does a much better job then stock windshield. I tried a Slipstreamer for a brief period in winter because it was a little wider but got scratched in one trip trying it and the F4 went back on permanently!
Based upon your evaluation I purchased a 20 inch tinted version for my 21 DCT Tour. Here are some of my observations, after having owned virtually every shield from Cee Baylees to 7Jurock with and without vents, extra thick (1/4" 7Jurocks), etc. over various Honda Models. The F4 appears nice out of the box and installs easily. Right away two issues pop up: 1 The edge is an unfinished saw cut with an extremely rough surface and a knife sharp corner you might easily cut yourself on. 2. The horizontal curvature of the entire shield simply is incorrect since it does touch the winglets in the retracted position. The fact that F4 supplies to little bump plastics to cover up the error in design does not excuse the sloppy engineering. The thickness of the screen is also below the stated thickness. OK, it' 1000ths, but nevertheless with a product as thin as it already this adds to the flutter at speeds in excess of 70 or 80 mph. The sweetspot of the Wing. Not the to mention the ridiculous over-price of USD 425 plus tax and ship. (for a thin piece of ill fitting unfinished plastic.) Here IMHO is what needs to be done to make this product even closely worth its price: 1. The edge needs to be polished and rounded smoothly like any other manufacturer does it. Already from a safety standpoint. 2, The design needs to be corrected to properly fit the Gcomment
Just ordered the F4 20'' Tinted windshield for our 18 Honda Goldwing CSC Trike. Being I got a Black Friday discount at WingStuff and have been told by many owners of an F4, I decided to finally pull the pin and order one. Can't wait for it to get here so we can install and enjoy the windshield. 11-25-22
I have the 20” clear from F4 on my 2020 Tour. There’s no comparison in the amount of air it takes off your shoulders and arms over the OEM shield. I’m 6’1” and I’m really surprised how well it does even in the lowest position. If I raise it just one inch, I can clearly hear my stereo through the onboard speakers at 75mph with the volume only set to 8. This makes it nice for the occasional hot days when I grab the Bell Custom 500 instead of my Neotec 2 with SRL. If I were to do it again though, I would probably buy the tinted 20” shield. I actually called F4 2 days after my online order to switch it to a tinted shield. They were so efficient though, that my clear shield was already on it’s way to my house. No worries though… the clear shield has been awesome. I wouldn’t order another just to get the tint and I declined F4’s offer to return the clear shield for a tinted one. I’m a happy camper.
I had my F4 Custom 24 inch windshield for my 2018 DCT for several years now. I came from the old school where you never have a fairing/windshield at full height. Mostly because the view gets blurred and hazy. Not with an F4 windshield. It is clear as a bell. No haziness, blurred, or obstructed view. Thumbs up for an F4!
CM I have a F4 10 inch curved on my Harley. In 4 years I know one thing, should I every get another bike the first thing that I do, will be to replace the stock with an F4. Great company to do business with. When I ordered, I wanted the straight 10 inch. A lady from the company called and said that they didn't stock the straight anymore. The web site had not been updated, she sent me the curved one with on additional charge. That cemented the deal fore my. Again it's a fantastic product...
I have had the 20" F4 Customs on my 2018 Goldwing for 20K miles now and I absolutely love it. So much better than the stock shield in every way. If my 20" F4 ever broke I'd order a replacement immediately.
I installed the 20 in wide smoked. Gordious and easy to install. It provides more protection than stock. At speeds of 70 + it vibrates all of the way around edges. I hope I can send it back without any hassle. Have a great day.
I bought my first F4 windshield for my 2023 Tour in 20” wide and tinted and was so impressed that I am going to move it to my 2019 Bagger and have ordered a 24” for the 2023. I am taller and do a lot of highway riding alone and with my passenger. I think it’s going to be perfect, I will let you know!!!
We have the 20” in light smoke on both of our 2019 DCT Wings. Love them and the wind behind this bike. Never have been able to ride comfortably behind a bike with the wind screen that low with no buffeting. Tend to ride with a bit higher than would have to just to really cut down on being hit by bugs. I am 6’2” and my wife is 5’9” and it works well for both of us.
Changed to the F4 20” tint after driving through the first rain cloud, 1 month after buying the bike. Been very happy since and the 2nd rain burst I went through, the water shedding on the F4 was great. I also find I can keep the windshield lower with the F4 and still stay within the protective wind bubble, due to the curve at the top of the F4. Love it.
@@davetresidder3611 I almost exclusively ride during the day and does not reduce visibility. It helps cut the reflected glare on bright days. On long trips when I ride to dinner at night, I have had no problem seeing but if I did a lot of night riding I personally would stick with clear.
I got a 20" tinted F4 for my '18 Tour based on your earlier reviews. Love it. Best water-shedding shield I own. Considering getting them for my '15 Wing and Harley Ultra. Great company.
I have the 20" F4 windshield. I think the surface integrity against sand and other small dirt is based on where you live in the country. Here in Colorado, my 1 1/2 year old F4 windshield is pitted pretty bad. I am going to replace it at the end of the year. I don't think any windshield can hold up here in Colorado. I only see the pits and scratches when I clean it. While I am riding the bike I don't see the damage. To be honest, we have to replace the windshields on our cars every few years because of the pitting from the sand if you drive a lot.
I have 18,000 on my bike, mostly with the F4 standard height. I love what it removed from my shoulders and the wind is well blocked. In addition, I use the F4 cleaner and it really does add that little touch that keeps it really clear. I had used Honda spray polish on it and it took several uses of the F4 cleaner to get rid of the haze that was added.
Chris, based on your review I bought the 20” F4 tinted in February 2020. I used your video to install it. Love it. Highly recommended. I’ve ridden through many rainstorms, the water just sheds right off.
Had an F4 on my GL1500 for years and loved it. Just installed a 20 inch clear and love it on our 2020 tour. Gave it a good rain test on the way home from WingDing and it is great at shedding water. Good advice at the end of your review. If you are replacing your windshield, your only decision is which F4 to select.
The glare from windshield swirls is really annoying. I purchased another stock windshield at approximately 70k miles. I clean it less often to prevent the swirls. I find a dirty windshield is easier to see through than a swirly one. Especially at night when the lights from an oncoming car make the swirls opaque. I would really like to keep the windshield clean at all times. I will have to try an F4. I trust it will resist swirling as you experienced. Thanks for the great review.
I have a Freedomshields 7” on my Harley-Davidson Electra Glide. This is the best windscreens that I have had on any of my Harley’s. They don’t make a shield for Honda’s, so I will definitely check out F4 Customs this week
I have the F4 Custom 20" on my 2020 DCT Non-tour and it is tinted for Florida riding. Yes it is a little expensive but think of it this way, I'll still have my F4 while you replace your shield three times.
I imported my 24” to the UK. No complaints with the performance. However, I am disappointed with the way the screen edge is finished with sharp edges fresh from the band saw rather than rounded off per OEM.
That’s interesting. An F4 with band saw cuts and unfinished. Did you call them? If that’s true, they will no doubt make it right. If so, report back what you found out. Until then, don’t be commenting on disappointment.
Thanks for the reply Road Glide. I left my comment as per the invitation by Cruiseman. Should I have checked with you first? Regardless of whether I should have or not, I presented my feedback - great performance of the screen but the lack of rounded off edges compared to Honda is disappointing to me. ‘Fresh from the band saw’ was a figure of speech. Simply put the screen edges are square rather than curved. I have seen other manufacturers overcome this by supplying beading/trim to fit over the machined edges, but the Honda finish is superior on the edges. By the way, I emailed F4 about this at the time and received no response.
That was another very helpful and informative video, thanks Cruiseman, well done!! I will purchase the f4 windshield for my 2018 GL1800 as soon as I get it back from the repair shop!
I purchase the 20inch clear for my 2021 wing. After that I purchased the 24 tinted with air vent, for my 2000 gl1500se. I believe that's a must for taller windscreen. You set in an air pocket otherwise. Fact so little air comes through I can talk on my sena 20s with face shield up. Love them both. I wish I would of went with tinted on my 21
I have the F4+4 on my 18 and the F4 tall on my 08. I liked the idea of just Windex, Vinegar or Alcohol to clean it. The optics sold me on the paying a little extra for a quality windshield. No complaints at all on how the windshields perform in the rain either.
With the tall windshield, can you get air on your face when it's all the way down? I'm 6'3" and love the idea of being able to turn extra wind on or off, worried the tall one will be too high in either position.
Still have my 20", F4 on my 2020 GW Tour. After 5k, no regrets. I do agree with one rider here complaining about the rain shedding on the screen. When it rains heavy, it 's surly hard to see.
I don’t care for my O.E.M. windscreen on my ‘18 Tour. My only decision is to go with the clear or tinted 20”. Thx for your honest opinion on these windscreens.
I am 6-3 and use the taller recurve with tint. I look over and the wind if out of my face; but the Honda wind tunnels (that gap under and inside of the mirrors) stll jets wind up my sleeves.
I bought one based on your previous review video. Just put it in the bike a couple of days ago. Looks awesome, 20” tinted on a 2020 Pearl White GW. I love the black/white combo. It’s been a 115 here, so my review will have to wait.
Thanks for the review Cruiseman. I put the 20” on my 2018 Gold Wing and absolutely love it. I’ve tried other windshields on my previous Wings. The F4 is the best by far imho. Thanks again for the video. Ride safely.
Great review. I watched your original one and that really helped me decide. I purchased the 16" Tinted one for my 2020 Goldwing Tour. I am a shorter rider and love the sportier look.
Nice review that is helpful. Have you tried the F4 wide 20" windshield? I am thinking it would help with shoulder wind more than the standard 20" in cold weather.
I’m 5’5” and the OEM windshield hits my line of sight in the lowest setting. I’m considering the 16” but wondering about the protection for my wife on the passenger seat. Any thoughts on wind protection for the back seat? Or should I stay with 20” F4?
I have a 2022 bagger. I love how my friend’s touring windshield cuts the wind. Do you think I’d be happy with the 16 in? I like the look of the tinted WS but I do get a little buffering on the OEM one. Thoughts? I’m 5’ 11”
Cruiseman, I really appreciate your motovlogs I've owned a Goldwing since 2014 and you're my go to for everything Goldwing. However, I have a wife and her comfort needs to be added to your Vlogs. You see, the happier, more comfortable she is, the more I get too ride. When doing your Vlogs, can you add in a tip for better comfort for my passenger(wife) thanks.
I'd really like to see a test/review of GW windshields from the PASSENGER'S perspective. I've not seen one - if there's one out there, could someone mention where?
Chris I have question with f4 windshield 20 inch would I still need the upper wind deflector I ordered the lower ones? I'm thinking save the $ and send it on the f4..
If you are referred to the deflectors that mount under the mirrors, then yes. They will keep the wind off of your hands. The F4 really does not do that.
F4 20” has an additional options: 2.5” wider per side than stock. Any comments regarding that, does it make a better wind protection. Please advise Thx
Has anyone seen rough or sharp edges on the F4 shields like a couple people have suggested? I've used different brand shields on other bikes and have never seen this.
Hello Cruise man I'm looking for a good used gold wing with low miles, however should I be concerned about the year of the gold wing with low miles or is that a plus.
I'm 6'3" and I have the tallest OEM one on my 21 Goldwing bagger. It works fine but I'm superficial and I don't like the way it looks because it is so tall. I would rather use the 20" F4 custom one. My question is with the design of the windscreen would it be close to how the OEM one functions? I would prefer having the one the "fits" better with the design of the bike.
I’ve never road with an F4; however, have had Clearview on my Triumph Rocket III. It also had the recurve. Just bought a 2021 GW. Only have 515 miles @ 6’0” I’ll figure to change after another 500 on the OEM. Guess the question is, have you only tested F4 because of their initial promotion?
I am 6' 3 2/3". I bought a 2021 DCT in Feb. this year (2021). I haven't desired to upgrade / change-out anything except, maybe, the windshield for an F4. I don't like the wind pushing at/down the back of my neck area when I raise the OEM shield at 55+ speeds. (I only tend to ride solo - so no passenger.) I don't like looking through a windshield. So, my inclination is to migrate toward the 20" F4 over the 24# F4 for the "recurve at the top". Thoughts?
I see you got a "like" but no response. I'm in exactly the same position (6'3" with bagger) and trying to decide if the 20" would do or do I need the 24" wide. Did you get one? If so could you share your experience?
Hi, thanks for your videos, a lot of good info and helpful advice. I can’t seem to find any info on regular vs wide version of this shield. Yours is about 4 inches wider than stock so did you order the wide version or is the wide version actually 5” (2.5” wider each side) as stated on the site? Thanks
One thing that's not on the warranty and that's chipping. A half hour after I had my F4 put on I got hit by a rock and instead of scratching the shield it knocked a chip out of it. Bummer.
I have not used the VStream on the 2018+ Goldwing, only the previous generation. They are good windshields, but you will get some distortion where the windscreen is contoured, and they require the application of Rain Shield.
I have no experience to answer, but it seems like 9 out of 10 inputs on that are "I didn't experience that". But, indeed, I have seen posts stating that.
Great question, I hope someone who knows the answer about stability will fill us in. I have a F4+4 on my 2016 Goldwing both as a 2 wheeler and now as a trike, I’ve gone way over 75 quite a few times and can’t say I could notice a difference. I am thinking about going with an F4 20 or 24 for my 2021 GWTour airbag. Don’t know what that would do to the airbag deployment (hopefully I’ll never need to use my airbag)

Hi would like to see you do a review on the landing gear for the Gold wing
I think I would have to find a bike that already has it installed. That would be a major install project.
Buy a car
We’re all of these the wide version? If you ever have the opportunity to compare standard vs. wide it would be helpful. Thanks for all of the content.
All F4 Customs are wider than OEM.
Cruiseman, I bought the F4 after your initial review. I really like it and would buy the same 20” again.
Steve, glad you are enjoying it. I really like mine.
Thoughts? I’m 5’ 11”
Forget about getting this windshield if you are in the UK. F4 want $239 to ship it. Shame as I suspect it is a quality screen.
It's not F4, it is the shipping companies. Shipping has more than doubled in the past 18 months on everything.
Chris, I'm looking to replace the windshield on my 2018 Tour. Is the stock F4 wider than the OEM windshield or do I need to order the wider F4?
F4 20” has an additional options: 2.5” wider per side than stock. Any comments regarding that, does it make a better wind protection. Please advise
Thx
Great review!!! Have always heard good stuff about F4 windscreens, looks like I’m ordering a 20” clear one!
(I only tend to ride solo - so no passenger.)
I don't like looking through a windshield.
Hello. Does anyone know if F4, who make the screen in this video, are still going. I've tried to contact them but so far no reply.
Hi, thanks for your videos, a lot of good info and helpful advice. I can’t seem to find any info on regular vs wide version of this shield. Yours is about 4 inches wider than stock so did you order the wide version or is the wide version actually 5” (2.5” wider each side) as stated on the site?
Thanks
The +4 is 5” wider by design. It is on an option.
@@cruisemansgarage thank you
One thing that's not on the warranty and that's chipping. A half hour after I had my F4 put on I got hit by a rock and instead of scratching the shield it knocked a chip out of it. Bummer.
How is your experience about Scratch resistance?
Excellent. Micro scratches are almost a thing of the past, as long as you are careful when cleaning.
How does the F4 stack up against the Vstream for protection?
I'm a new Goldwing owner but had the Vstream on my BMW.
I have not used the VStream on the 2018+ Goldwing, only the previous generation. They are good windshields, but you will get some distortion where the windscreen is contoured, and they require the application of Rain Shield.
I read some where that it affects the stability of motorcycle when you exceed 75 mph
$400 for a 24 inch windscreen. ... no thanks.
Well to get one shipped to Australia total cost is nearly $1000
My tall OEM windscreen also rubs against the winglet on one side when lowered.
