The Mx Factory I think this is a much better video. My scrubs are pretty good but hopefully they’ll improve from this video. Too bad I won’t be able to ride for a while. My bearings in my back tire are looser than loose. My back wheel is about to come off! But that’s beside the point. Great video! Edit: Keep up the great videos! You’ve really helped me improve on my riding! Maybe I can come to your summer camp!
Excellent, helped me understand and recognize another aspect of my own riding that I have been doing kind of by accident. The way you explain letting the bike come up to you made a lightbulb come on. Keep em’ coming!
Great vid, just need bike time now. Been watching so many vids on the tube about mx'ing, feel like I am ready for supercross. But in reality haven't ridden since end of Feb lol. Damn you social distancing and Covid!! 🤪
@@ericw9719 No. A scrub involves laying the bike over on its side as you go up the face of a jump. This redirects the suspension rebound out to the side, reducing the amount of rebound that pushes you up vertically, allowing you to have a lower trajectory through the air. That is not what is being demonstrated here. He is merely soaking up the suspension rebound with his body while keeping the bike upright. These are two different techniques, though they both have the same goal of lowering your trajectory through the air.
@@vrd180 i agree with you but i also think ''soaking up a jump'' the way this guy is teaching it is a great first step (getting your feet wet you could say) before you start to learn how to throw a real scrub.. but technically what this guy is doing is scrubbing.. dungey scrubs like this alot.. both ways take time off your lap time and thats what the real goal is.. ''scrubbing time off''
Great video as usual guys. For those of us that grew up riding and racing in the 90's we know about sucking up the jump to stay low, and I've always looked at as allowing the bike come to me on the face by staying loose(gripping with my knees but not so much that my legs are rigid and they can still bend and flex freely) as opposed to actively moving towards the bike. Because if you're staying relaxed it naturally allows the bike to move up and down under you and and do all the work and the timing aspect seems less of an issue when soaking up the face
Thanks for the videos, guys. I'm a proud supporter. I was planning to come back to Texas and visit you all next month, but I think that isn't going to happen.
Just a suggestion.... but i think a stand up cornering vid would help a lot of people.... it would really help me, i try to do it but i dont know what corners to do it on or really how to don it at all...... just a suggestion tho
You can practice it on any corner really, but start off on corners that aren't really tight and go around the outside. Stand on the balls of your feet and just keep trying. You'll figure out what works and what doesn't. After a while you will be able to do it on tighter turns.
Kieran Macca thanks, i have been struggling with it thanks for the advice but are their any specific corners that you need to apply this technique to to gain speed?
What do I do after I learn to soak up the jump? Loved this video. Keep it coming with beginner/intermediate videos. Video suggestion: what to prepare yourself for on the vet track to get you ready for the main. Another video suggestion: What are race tips that a coach would tell beginner/intermediate riders. My parents don’t know anything about dirtbiking so I’m on my own haha. Is there anything I need to be aware of for starting races?
Is it normal to not be comfortable turning/ leaning the bike off certain jumps? I feel like certain jumps I can only go to one side due to the landing/ run up. Do I just need to force it until I’m comfortable? Great vid guys!
I think it’s funny, when I was learning to jump I could not clear any table tops at my track, but I could hit a double every single time, just felt way more comfortable with it
Its too late to ever be a Pro but you can still have Fun. I am working on creating ways to get more people started in Motocross, (stepping stones) Mx-collaborations.com
Friend how I wanted to learn to ride these bikes. only the bike is missing, kkkkkk available and that is not missing. let's learn from you ok congratulations excellent channel.
Collin Wood here’s a few tips, try not to gas it too hard on the face of the jump you want smooth throttle all the way up to the face, and if it’s too high you can hold in the clutch and tap the break then it will bring the front down
I been picky on modern riders the scrub is so gay....going over a jump on the start.. yall cant even be next to each other when u scrub it takes up the space of 2 or 3 bikes would normally fit in....when u have room ...i basically acidentlly started this scrub thing in 1989 i started trying to leave the ground early so i could jump the peak an not fly high off the ground...an i was just playing around purely to see if i could do it...i was able to borrow a pro 125cc riders 250 RM zuki...because he liked the his 125 best...at a local race off a ski jump at sleep hollow mx park in PA i bounced the bike but it didnt bounce evenly an i almost flew cart wheel down the hill....i said ok i only try this on my CR an not my factory friends privateer suzuki on lone...oh was it so fast first holeshot i did i had a 20 foot lead but never pitched a suzuki into a turn at 65mph so i looked back an just slowed...every body immediately recognized who bike i was riding....it cool...thats why the guy who built it let me ride it to show its capabilitys....Tyler is on of the best jumpers....no matter what the jump is...
Wait your supposed to go forward on an motorcycle because I go backwards but your probably wondering why I am taking the time to write this comment why because it’s carona and I have nothing better to do 100% no sarcasm thank you for reading

That's what a scrub is...

Saucy Tube long sweeping corners can definitely benefit from standing through them.
Kieran Macca sorru to keep asking you these question and im not saying your wrong but how is standing through them better than sitting?
Yea same down here in Texas my track has some kinda sandy terrain I can’t really ride in it
Great video and explanation! Thanks!
The video was 🔥! You really helped this time! Keep up the great work and helping us!

Always great content! Thanks longtime rider but nice to learn what I never knew I didn’t know, here on your channel!
Can’t wait to try.

Do these same rules apply for scrubbing singles🧐🧐🧐
Good content !
Hey some day would you make a video of shift down in the air or how to make your front end come up high when you ramp
Thanks for the input🤘🏻👍🏻

Great vid as always - thanks. Happy to be a (small) Patreon for you guys - hope you get more.
Much appreciated! Thank you for the support!!
When your on a jump is your front end supposed to be pointing down?
Would that be the method used by McGrath?
I’m sure he’s used this technique over the years 🤘🏻
@@TheMxFactory Read somewhere he was an avid BMX guy before he did MX...
Does scrubbing come first from whips? I’m trying to learn how to whip and I can do a little one but someone said I should get this down first
I have a crf150r what gear should I be in for a scrub. Should I be in 5th or 3rd gear

Y’all should do a video on how to build a jump if y’all haven’t already
Does this also go for scrubbing rollers?

Wait what about the actualy scrub part, like turning the bike over?
They have their one from 2 years ago. This is more like a proper precursor to it.
