That is the first time in watching Dan for years, that I have ever heard him express fear or concern like that. Say your prayers everyone
Amen to that!
That kinda jumped out of the video, didn't it?
Dan is a master carpenter! Why he is so good!
I have admit, I didn't expect to see the walls be that high.
Comparison with the old roof line on the chimney means there must be an extreme sloping section of roof between them... I'm off to look at some old photos as the chimney does not seem high enough!
My Dad was a builder here in Canada and when he hired a new carpenter, he always hired Brits. He thought they were the best trained in all aspects of life in school. He sure proved it with all his crews.
Aside from the thrill of watching the chateau come back to life, I'm fascinated by how your film-making talents are evolving. Bravo!
Dan has a natural talent. If I remember correctly he studied fine arts at uni (before he became a chef).
He also did a course run by Casey Neistat which I think has helped him with the concept of how to tell a story. His camera positioning is so much better than many of the other channels working in this genre.
He no longer creates his videos - he's hired someone.
@@johnmarquardt1991 That's totally untrue.
@@johnmarquardt1991 rubbish! Cat films for him but he creates the final product!
The Chateau will be impressive with the full roof. Can't imagine the turret roof
This is the first time ever that I have been happy to see a product sign in any video--many thanks to Axminster Tools for providing such great tools to Dan !!
And the promotion is so tastefully done 😊
Given the Olympics are on in France at the moment reckon you would win a medal for the most positive and cheerful marathon effort. 😊Go Dan ❤🏅🥇
Far better than the Olympics. BOYCOTTING them....
By the time the terrible weather comes you will be all roofed up, and able to start the inside, I will be so pleased for you Dan.
Or putting in 3rd floor outside windows, middle of December in -5° snowy weather on top of a wonky ladder? We know he can do it! 😀
@@DirkDelahaye let's hope he gets them in BEFORE then!!! oi vey!
With all the madness in the world, this is such a wonderful place to come. Working together, friendship and hope, can achieve so very much.💕
even in the village they can see the roof, and i saw a puppy❤
Thanks Axminster tools for your generosity. It has given a lot of us pleasure and inspiration in watching Nick and the team restoring the chateau.
Dan's chateau
Yes, I was thinking the same thing! Thank you, Axminster Tools for a wise move on your part! It's paid off all the way around.
Give Axminster good accolades indeed. Thank you for helping out Dan in accomplishing his dream to restore and renew this saving place!!!
Thank you Axminster Tools for your generous gift way before others wanted to get in 👍
Exciting time! Glad to see the gang back together. Stay safe, boys!
The Boys are Back in Town! Much missed! Glad you are back.
Good morning team ❤
Omg 😱……
Omg 😳 …
Omg 😆 …
That’s high !!!!
@@gaelenecole4053 When Nick confirms something is high, it’s high.
@@gloriasmestad3803 omg 😳 yes 🙌
The Mansard roof going to the 23ft peak is higher than the chimneys. That little peak of flashing on the chimney is where the long angled side of the Mansard is attached. So, the chimney is very close to the roof and flashed for weather protection. It is basically hidden but not the actual peak. Dan’s got it right.
As someone with a phobic fear of heights, I was TERRIFIED watching you even from over 5,000 miles away! Seeing you and Brian way high up on that shaky scaffolding made me dizzy. Stay safe guys!!!
Yeh, agree and where are your steel-toe shoes? jeese. I worry too
He does that on purpose don't you know ?
Same!!!
Agreed
Why is the scaffold so wobbly?
Four day without escape to rural France is way too long, I am so glad that today...BINGO there they are, miss you guy!
Yes I was getting withdrawal symptoms!😂
@@denisecumming4729 You to Loll
The height of the roof! WOW!!!
And that is just the wall the roof is going to be built up on....
Channel of the CENTURY imho. You are creating memories for the masses with every post. Thank You Sir!!
My heart is in my throat watching you guys balancing on that rickety scaffold
it is not as bad as it looks
Axminster tools need to be praised hugely for giving all the right ‘equipment’ for DAN and guys to be able to do the things they are now able to do. Everyone can see how the build has speed up and they have the right equipment! 👍🏻👏🏻🇳🇿
I love your videos so much but I always feel calmer when our tattoo’ed brother is on site with you. I hate seeing you struggle on your own and he brings such a calm energy to the site. Greetings from South Africa.
Though in my mid 80's it now gives me vertigo to watch you guys scampering around these heights, I never miss an episode of your remarkable project. Thanks for taking us along on each step of the way !!
👍👍👍👍👍
Here here!❤
Dan, looking at what you are doing up and up every day, I can imagine how unsaved this ruined building could be. But you never stop nor be discouraged. This is the main reason you have so many followers and it doesn't matter if your video is 4, 8, 10 minutes. It's worthed more than the most famous movies or shows. Bless you and your amazing friends!
Amazing how you & Nik & Bryan are achieving this level. We need Cameron to come back for 1 week to help with this monumental task. Hip, hip, hooray!!!
Hooray!
@@christikapa3856Cameron has moved on. He lives in Germany. Perhaps you mean Dan's friend Calvin?
@@christikapa3856 Hip Hip Hooray!
Bravo Axminster Tools for helping make your dreams come true! ! Nice to see the team back together. You are all in my prayers. Exciting to see the tower start to go up! ❤
It’s amazing those stone walls stayed up this whole time.
I m addicted to this project ! Cant stop watching 😊
the height under the roof of this room will be colossal!
I used to think this building was a bit small compared to other proper castle restoration projects…. But now that it’s coming together, I realize this is actually the perfect size, it has the fascination of a chateau but without those rows and rows of rooms that are not really needed. I’m particularly intrigued by the last floors: those “side rooms” and the center higher room, and the turret on top of that, promise to be really interesting when they’ll be all finished.
May be it isn't as big as onther châteaux, but remember it was only a shell with pill of dirt on the ground. He has to rebuilt almost ground up.
It has been amazing to see the transformation and rebirth of your chateau. Thank you for sharing your journey.
Just imagine how pretty it’s going to look when you get your Christmas lights on the roof
My heart was in my mouth when u were putting the frame up.
Not only up that high but also on a wobbly scaffold....
This might be the point where I have to bow out for a bit and come back when they're all finished 😅😭
Agree! I am so nervous watching this!
I was holding my breath! But excited at the same time ♥️
So excited!!!
I am already feeling anxious with how they are going to shingle that roof😮
Dan , everyday I get more convinced there is nothing you can’t do….your an inspiration.
Good to see you are healthy and whole. Brian took us to Paris with him. And of course we saw you give Stephanie the tour.. I think Philip is a good candidate for a new puppy father.
Oh what a great ideo. I so agree. Isn't the party for his birthday? what a gift that would be!
Stephanie's birthday is August, Phillip is September
Yeah he does. Brian’s life in France.
You never cease to surprise us Dan. Pleased you have Nick and Brian there, to help.
Over 7K views in 8 minutes... we were worried Dan. So glad you survived the heat and the Math.
Maybe Dan will make PSAs (Public Service Announcements) explaining to school children why paying attention in math class is worthwhile!
You have wonderful TOOLS now to work with!!!! And great coworkers!!!!
The Chateau will be impressive with the full roof. Can't imagine the turret roof 🤯
The view from the top of that roof will be amazing, you're going to need to put an observatory at the top to make the most of it when it's finished.
Yeah, the chateau's location seems like part of what's special about it. The view from that little balcony will be beautiful.
Just looked at old photo of the Chateau to remember what the tower roof looks like. It’s going to be amazing to see you build it back - that thing is huge…..
I am looking for the same old photo…. I’d love to see what is being built at the moment. I keep forgetting what it looked like.
@artifactartstudio107 Google Chateau Chaumont, Mainsat and it comes up first photo.
OMG you could see the adrenaline running through your bodies. Three very brave men. Well done ❤
This building is something else. Be safe
Wow, it's going to be gigantic 😅
I love it. It's so good seeing all this being crafted and put together! 😁
My god, you are such a hard worker
.
Omg😱! Glad that’s over with.Thanks Axminster Tools👍Great work today Dan,Nick,And Brian.Time for🍻🍻🍻
I have to go back to pics before she burned. That's a huge roof!
OMG as if this build couldn't get any scarier! YIKES!! Amazing!!
OMG!!!!!! I had to close my eyes when you and Brian were on the scaffolding.
SECURE THAT SCAFFOLDING--and out on your safety harnesses
if you've ever been that high on a scaffold than you know it's pretty stable
Oh my God! I could not look at you and your team putting up the frame. So, so scary.Your puppies are lovely.
one of the things i love most about this channel is how wonderfully the individual personalities shine through with very little talking. it just takes great personalities and great story telling. LOVE IT!!
I agree. I can't stand some of the channels where they talk so much and keep on repeating themselves.
Enjoy your work, and the subtle Axminster advert! 😄
Jumping Jellyfish! It's going to be magnificent, well done lads!!!❤❤
It's so big! We will all enjoy the next couple of weeks! What a roof It's gonna be!
this roof will change it a lot, exciting 😊
All the beautiful machinery and superb tools have certainly made a huge difference - speeding up the job with really excellent equipment - and what a lovely way to champion AXMINSTER TOOLS as well. I do hope Axminster Tools are as delighted with your progress as are your many subscribers
Yes Dan. It certainly going to be a high thing!
Yay Team Chaumont! We can celebrate at weeks end! Take care! On that wobbly scaffolding ….can you brace it somehow?? At least we know if the videos there so are YOU all still!!! So glad these come in the mornings ..early!! Hoping the lifter is high enough! No competing with the Olympics on those beams …please wear the harnesses 🙌🎉❤😅
We missed you, but its so exciting to see the Big roof coming up. Good luck.😊
These are only the walls that the big roof will be put on top of later....
It’s simply amazing watching your phoenix rise from the ashes to shine in all its splendour again. From the floor to the walls and roof your team have done amazing work!
Amazing work!!!♥️
You all make a fabulous team, such hardworking mates ❤❤❤
It's incredible to see you come this far. That roof will be up in no time especially with the help from your friends, and its going to be beautiful and you made it! What an accomplishment!!
Holy cow! That thing is HUGE! Good luck!
That you know what all those tools are for is amazing in itself! Some of those I have never seen used before and I have been watching programs like this for 30 years!
That is going to be an absolutely stunning construct! Thanks for sharing. :)
So beautiful; I enjoy your work immensely. Go and win this bottle.
Some days I'm impressed with the scope of this project.
Sometimes it's your energy.
Sometimes it's the quality of work.
Today you were muscling up sheets of material in the HEAT.
Well Won !
Heat? What heat?
It's pleasantly in the mid 80s in that part of France right now. With low humidity. That's not even close to heat.
Thats huge and it is still the lower part 😀 I did not expect the back part be so huge.
We missed you..but always so lovely to see what's happening..so here we go forvtye next huge part of the roof ..hard work but you do it so well..❤
Watch The Chateau Diaries and you'll see more of Dan there because Stephanie, Philip and Davy visited Dan to see tbe chateau progress.
It was so exciting to see Stephanie Jarvis and Phillip and Davy visit Dan!!!
Congratulations,I know it's slow yet steady. You should all be proud of the job so far, well done.
Dan knows he HAS to get the roof on before the weather breaks - and he can do it, but there's absolutely no time to prat about.
This is the tough bit - once the roof is on he can relax.
Oh, God - we're back to the heart-stopping moments like the days of yore when you were working alone 😳
That mortis cutter is quite the gizmo.
woodworking p0rn for sure!
Stunning videography + courage + teamwork = brilliant viewing! Thank you for sharing!
I cannot be more proud of all of you and what you have all accomplished.
I know the next visit from Calvin, he will be over the moon to see most of, or all of the roof in tact and in place.
It’s really changing its look. So exciting.
Just incase you are planning on using those chimneys there is a rule to follow. It is 3-2-10. The chimney has to be at least 3 feet above the roof. And 2 feet above anything within 10 feet from it. I only tell you thus because u are the only UA-cam person I follow that actually replied to a comment. I love you and this project. I want you to be set up success.
I was wondering about that chimney so close to the wood beams.
Being well equipped is so much fun
You guys are SO STRONG!!! Physically, yes, amazingly! Mentally too!!!! Yaay, so fun to watch!
Looks like you have a beautiful day to work your magic. Hope you enjoyed your weekend take care be safe 💕😽😽
Holy moly! I'd knew that this floor would be tall, but this is insane. We'll done, and be safe!
I look forward to your “good morning!”
I love watching you take a pile of bricks and sort of walls… a shell… and turn it into a real solid structure again. I considered this resurrection impossible.
Boy, I was so wrong!
I thought… no way will he do this… there are trees growing out of the walls! Trees are probably holding it up!
I kept watching ~ moments where I thought whole brick walls would fall on you… I was sitting with my hands over my eyes at moments… and saying a little prayer for you and the boys! I was worried one of you would fall off the side… or one of those board would flip ~ so I watched to make sure you were all safe too! 😳
Now, I have total faith in you and your crew ~ pretty sure all of you can do anything. It is so exciting to watch you rebuild everything!
Now I can appreciate the beauty as you work. I no longer worry about you as much but I still have moments when you’re putting loads of board on the wire thing and trying to swing them in on the upper levels ~ please be careful sir! I swear my heart skips a beat until I see you got it and all is well. Whew!!!
Thank you for sharing this journey ~ watching you rebuild this is one of the most inspiring things I have ever seen!
Happy to welcome any Johnny-come-later believer to the team that had complete faith from day one!
@@brandyjean7015 I do small diy things… I laid pavers last summer by myself and felt extremely smart and sassy after. I even have attempted building some kitchen shelves using power tools like a pro (in my mind).
So I had no idea this kind of work was possible without an army of men and machines. I have been floored watching what one man can do with the right help… and knowledge ~ and most of all heart! You gotta love this work to want to get up and tackle this project that is for sure!
Anyway, I am now watching and find myself wondering what in the world will he paint the walls? How will the beautiful windows go in and what kind of flooring will he choose?
First, the roof ! And then probably a ton of structure stuff ~ I have no idea what comes next… who am I kidding. I have to watch to find out! 😁
@@nancystapleton872 I would think the windows would be next, before winter
@@jlotoo850 Good call! I’m excited to see them go in!
I bet they will be huge, stunningly beautiful and a pain to get in but worth it!
@@nancystapleton872 I hope some company will come forward and offer to make them custom for him for a minimal cost to get free advertising..
I am happy that everything is ok Dan. I am also happy that I am not one of your friends trying to help you out. The only thing I could do, is shit my pants because of my fear of heights.
I will be happy when the really scary parts are over so I can watch without my bloodpressure peaking.
Power to your elbows lads hoping all goes well for this next stage of the build.
I remember the first day you showed us the property. What you have accomplished is staggering! It is just wonderful to see it come back to life. Thank you for showing what hard work and persistence can do. ❤ 😊
SO GREAT TO SEE NIK AND BRIAN BACK!❤🎉 U GUYS DAN REALLY HAD HARD WORK SWEATIN AND SLUGGING BOARDS UP. TO TOP.and DAN WOULDNT STOP EXCEPT FOR THE HOT AS HELL HEAT!!! SOME IF US WERE VERY FEARFUL. FOR DAN WORKING SO HARD ALONE.😮

Whoopeeeeee the boys are back in town! My heart is on its way to its usual place out of my mouth. That was scary to watch you and Brian on a wobbly scaffold tower. Let alone be up there lifting a huge beam. You are all crazy as hell but I love you😫🤣😫🤣😫🤣😫
Wowzers!! That is tall...I am trying to picture all of the stud work done. Can't wait!
Great progress, in only a few weeks this will be a enclosed roof.
Crikey mate, went back and had a look at those historic postcards, that roof is big, but the tower dwarfs it! Holey moley.
Dan u got me worried for a Very long time. It’s an honor to se you again
he has a live outside of UA-cam too. Give the hard working dad some space...
@@johumm455 yeah I know I just thought there was an accident in the construction that’s why I was worried
We always build a temporary scaffold out of 2x4s and 1/2 inch plywood. We make an H frame box about 5 feet below the ridge and run 2 parallel 2" x 10" planks on each side of the ridge. We brace it off with more 2x4's then we incorporate those 2x4s into the partition walls when we are done with the roof. it makes for a very stabile work platform and doesn't take up much room, usually we make 3-4 of those frames to support the planks and it is wonderfully safe and stable to work on. We don't take it down until the roof is all sheathed. It makes roof framing so much safer!!
