I have had my Scag cheetah for 9 years my yard is 4.5 acres i live in the deep south with high humidity and grass grows quick so weekly cutting is a given to keep the yard looking it's best. I have replaced 2 spindles and 2 cutting belts so I have had relatively few problems with parts on the mower. I do not plan on replacing it any time soon. I would recommend the Scag line to anyone looking for a dependable quality lawn mower that will operate without problems for years. It was Well worth the investment. That was a Good video.
I have a Scag Patriot that I bought in 2020. Love it! It’s commercial grade and it’s overkill for homeowner use but it’s tough as nails, no issues with it and goes through taller grass with ease. Gives a nice even cut and makes the lawn look like a carpet. My lawn looks better than my surrounding neighbors who have theirs professionally mowed. Money well spent on this mower.
I recently bought a Scag Liberty Z 36" for homeowner use. I am impressed with the quality of the mower - it's built like a tank and is very solid. Great fit and finish, and like he said, they use a lot of thick metal parts. Nothing looks cheap or flimsy. The seat is very comfortable. I looked at some other brands and they looked kinda cheap by comparison. The control panel is also nice and looks good. All the controls are solid feeling.
The braided covering was probably the final factor in my decision to buy a Scag Cheetah II. I wasn't even a Scag fan to begin with! :) These guys need some hits, this is a nice video! #scag #bestmowers
I have a 2010 freedom Z. It says commercial but doesn't have tapered bearings on the spindles. Has chains for deck hanging so it is not as bulletproof as this mower. That being said I can tell you that even though it was obviously abused badly it has amazing signs of no wear or problems. Worth rebuilding in my opinion. Built to last.
This video points out good things. But a true perfectionist mower critic wants to hear about stuff you didnt mention. What about engines, oil filters , grease fittings , and warrenties? Big desishion making factors ! For my 💵
maybe a simple mesh screen would keep more stuff out of the hydraulic motor and allow plenty of air flow. you start to wonder who gave these designers their certificate.
The engines are made by another company ,Kawasaki ,vanguard and that’s whole other quality thing. Also the size of the motor ,carburetor or electron fuel injection etc
What the heck am I doing wrong with this deck lever? I CANNOT get the deck to lock in the up position. It's as if there is no up position. I have to re-pin the deck to up, then re-pin it to mow, then re-pin it to put it on the trailer. The manual says ON PAGE 20, "(2.) Pull the cutter deck lift lever all the way backward UNTIL IT LOCKS IN PLACE." What is up???
As far as I know, Scag is the only mower to have taper roller bearings for the spindles. Other than Toro. Those bearings can last 10,000 hours. All my mowers were Toro. Just kind of gravitated there over the years. Survival of the fittest I guess.
That is information more likely to make me buy. The 250 hour craftsman/husqvarna/MTD spindles aren’t really cutting it for me. With their “decorative” grease zerk.
I don't know why someone is in the comments talking about they are too heavy and tear up yards the only time a machine will tear up a yard is if you are properly not trained on it skaggs are simply the best I'm sorry but my next pic happens to be Cub cadet the MTD brand company has came a long way with their commercial industry
I have a new Tuger Cat 2 for my 1/3 acre residential lawn. So far so good but its missing something very important. I've seen a rubber pad on some mowers on the top of the deck ehere you would step. This mower doesnt have it. And that deck is slippery.
Sorry but the top 5 are pretty much the same, they all run the same Kawasaki, Brigs, or Kohaler, their entire running hydrogear or Parker drives and the suspension seats are all made by the same manufacturer, the deck belts are made by the same manufacturer just branded for the mower.
I bought one a Zero Turn 48” it awesome I have a 143 hours on it I am financing it , I rather have a Patriot but I have a Liberty residential instead it is a great mower I had a walk behind 48” and my friend never like it But I love it and it preformed excellent eventually I will get a commercial mower after I paid off the liberty 👍👍😎
That tubing for the wire is designed that way because it can breath and not condensate holding water inside. As for water proof, the wire insulation takes care of that. If the wire insulation sat in dampness for long periods from condensation or water entry from the open ends, it would dry out and fail prematurely. So considering this design also nicely holds, organizes and protects the wire from being damaged by the vibrating steel frame, I would say it's a great design.
Owner of v rides since scag start making the viRides there is aways been a problem with their decks getting cracked I personally like the mowers but the quality sucks the decks always get at of wack the scag belts only last 20% more of a generic belts the stories are so diferent when you listen a sales representative from scag then when you listen the history's from the people who use this machines every day scag should have recalls on those hanging decks that keep cracking .

Why’s it over kill for home owner. I’m a proud tiger cat 2 owner with 2 acres. I paid cash for it.don’t regret it a bit.

Stihl dealership here in Muskogee, Oklahoma Offers 3 yr warranty on the Kawasaki motor and 5 years on the mower.
maybe a simple mesh screen would keep more stuff out of the hydraulic motor and allow plenty of air flow. you start to wonder who gave these designers their certificate.
Until it gets clogged with grass and fuzz because your not looking at it every 30 minutes. A bit of grass going into the blade won’t cause any harm
a mesh screen would need to be cleaned several times a day, most people would not clean the screen and then complain about overheating
Is 87 octane non ethanol ok for new scag mowers ⁉️ Manual says 93 octane and non ethanol ⁉️
Maybe I missed it but I didn't notice much mention of the engine

That wiring is see through (UV radiation type C exposure) meaning extended exposure will compromise wire insulation…
