  • In this Collins Country video we take you through a thorough review of our Scag zero turn lawn mower- this is the Patriot model. We had this mower for over 2 years. We use it weekly and absolutely love it! We lice in Kentucky with hilly and rocky terrain. This Scag handles the terrain well and mows our grass flawlessly. We would;d 100% buy this exact mower again if we needed to. We have zero regrets on this purchase. Let us know if you have any questions but we hope this honest Scag zero turn review is helpful!

    Got one-52 incher-last May. Man, so far I absolutely love it. We’ll see how long it lasts for me as a consumer. Thanks for taking the time to review it.

      No problem. Anytime I buy something I try to research and find reviews for it. It’s helps out a lot!!

    I have the exact mower and the filter which rest right next to to the oil filter rubbed a hole in the oil filter and I lost all the oil in the engine, I switch off the engine and replace the filter and the oil and it hasn’t missed a beat, so I think it’s a great mower.

    I have the same exact mower, but I have a question. Mine has the mulch plate but it throws grass all over us and we are covered in grass halfway through mowing. Any ideas to try we are considering buying another?

    Did you look at a tiger cub too? If so why did you pick this over the tc

    $9700 and I decided to go and pick it up instead of it being delivered being that I live only 15 minutes away from the dealer. I researched and compared plenty and I just couldn’t see getting anything else but a Kawasaki engine and Scag has held true to their reputation. To be honest, the seat had a lot to do with me buying this one as well. After 3 years of cutting on a Toro Timecutter 50”, my back couldn’t take much more. I get mines this weekend but I’m glad I came across your video. I’m sure that I’ll be happy with my investment.

    Was told stick to original blades as going to a gator much blade or others was another 400 to 500 grams heavier which is just more strain on the motor

    • @CollinsCountry

      I personally think that what you were told is inaccurate. If anything it would wear out the bearings sooner but that’s it. If anything is more of a strain on the motor it’s my fat butt. Lol

    comfy seat and low enough to get under some tree branches is what sold me on the Scag vs. a Ferris. Ferris is nice, just too tall.

    • @CollinsCountry
      @CollinsCountry  Місяць тому

      +@govtfunded yeah. This has a low profile. It’s so nice!

      The Ferris I had I loved the way it rode but it was god awful about bogging down in even moderately thick grass, went with the patriot after the Ferris got stolen and it’s much much better

    Use a Predator or Ballard gator type blades. In longer and wet grass does much better

    What size hydros does this have. And how much was it if I may ask. I have a 2023 52 inch with kawisaki 22hp and 3200 hydros with filters was $8100 out the door. How does it mow backwards. Mine doesn't mow well in reverse. People are like why are you mowing backwards anyway.well I don't have 400$ for a chute blocker right now, so I will mow a little in reverse in certain situations and it cuts pretty bad in reverse. It will just roll out piles of grass. New to zeros and wasn't really expecting to have a issue like that.

      Hey! It has the Hydro-Gear ZT3400 Transaxle. I can't remember the entire price, but I believe it was $7,000. But I know they are more than that now because someone I work with just bought one. This mows in reverse but does not mulch the grass as well. I understand what you are saying, it isn't that bad on ours. I did days worth of comparing before I went with the Scag, and I am glad I made this choice. I would do it over again.

      I just bought one and they are 9000 right now. Delivery will be today.
      I won't get a chance to use it for a couple of months but wanted to look at mowers during my vacation and went with the scag patriot 61

      I have the vride2 with velocity deck and it too mows terrible in reverse. The cut is superb in forward but leaves big piles of grass in reverse. My exmark and hustler dont do that… but those two dont cut nearly as well in forward

    A person living in a farmhouse will be comfortable in whatever profession he chooses. Does he have to go to the city every now and then to earn money? I would be pleased if you answer.

    • @CollinsCountry
      @CollinsCountry  9 місяців тому

      Hey! We both unfortunately work in the city. I work for a utility company and my wife is a nurse at a hospital downtown. We drive an hour to work but that was a sacrifice we had to make to move to the country and buy this property. It was worth it! Eventully one of us will quit our job, but right now we need both of our incomes to buy everything we want/need for the farm.

    Is it normal to feel / hear the blades vibrating? Almost like tumbling sound ?

    • @CollinsCountry
      @CollinsCountry  5 днів тому

      @@majordave223 I would say no. A guy I know had this happen to him and it was when you swapped the blades to after market blades and caused a lot of vibration. He swapped back to originals to keep from wearing the bearings. If that’s not it I would check bearings on your spindles and pulleys.

    I’m looking at this model for mowing about 7 acres. Do you think it would do well with that size of property?

    • @CollinsCountry
      @CollinsCountry  Місяць тому +1

      I’m certain the mower would handle it. It has the upgraded hydros and I would do Kawasaki motor. 7 acres seems like a lot to me with a 61 inch deck. But these things can cut pretty fast.

      I would do a tiger cat or go full commercial if that was my situation. I have a tiger cat and mow 3 to 4 acers a week and it has no issues.@CollinsCountry
