In this video, Patrick Adair Designs a solid ring made from Bello Opal. This ring has amazing colors in the light and is faceted in our signature Obsidian Finish making it truly one of a kind. Each ring starts as a solid slab of opal. The opal is then cut with our Patrick Adair Supplies Diamond Holesaw. At this point, the ring is made to size on a lathe using a Dremel. You can't cut the opal because it would just shatter, so you have to use abrasives. The ring then is sanded with a belt sander to get the obsidian facets before being polished and finished.

I remember seeing natural mineral opal the first time over 40 years ago and being struck by it's beauty. I had no idea that an artificial type was now available - or that it would look so good. The obsidian bevel really worked perfectly for it, that is a masterpiece!
Tbh, unless it was faux opal, like a cheaper look-alike, it'll be pretty hard to tell the difference, unless you use a microscope, or if there are some differences a gemologist could see, with their trained eyes and tools. Even then, they could be virtually identical. Bc artificial can just mean made in a lab, but still with similar processes and similar materials going into the creation.
J F the only lab created gemstones that are identical to the real gems are ones that slowly crystallize. Opal has no crystal structure. Sorry if that was harsh lol I didn’t mean it that way 😂
J F yes they have some pretty good artificial Diamonds now
@@joshuaflower2448 Just took a look on their website and their Galaxy Opal (resin free) looks much closer to a natural opal or a moonstone which is nice. For the most part I dont like unnatural stones, even dyed agates make me irk.
Like you said, opal is such an awesome material. Those colors drive you nuts...in a good way!
It's fake opal.🤔

@@AEON. THANK YOU for this! I’ve been fascinated and darn near obsessed with lab grown opal ever since I discovered the material (by way of purchasing a couple of solid opal ring bands and three beaded bracelets which are all made of this exact material, Bello opal). I love it so much, I want to work with it myself, whether that entails making the substance or creating things out of it... or, preferably, both. So, the channel / link you’ve provided here is a perfect place to start learning about it, for me. You’ve really made my day with this, so thank you again!
Imagine this guy making wedding rings for other people that would be cool
He does do that I believe atleast men's rings
First link in the desc is a link to his website/webstore. You can get a custom ring made there, there is even an option to have him make it on video although that option starts at $1,000 (Probably USD). There's also many different rings on the store aside from getting a custom one. At the time of writing this, the cheapest ring on his store is the "Pure Carbon Fiber Ring" for $75 (probably USD again).
Yup he has matching rings on his site and actually says wedding rings
He does
I know right 😉
Lovely Ring. I would like to see a signet ring one day. That would be amazing.
what is signet?
@@virajghadge6916 If I'm not mistaken he's meaning these. www.gentlemansgazette.com/signet-ring-primer/
@@virajghadge6916 I dont know
Honestly I just want to say; Thank you so much for showing the cutaway to you wearing your dust mask during the belt sanding. That is a thing that many people overlook when it comes to safety and seeing you show it makes me very happy. Also, absolutely beautiful ring.
Wow...Opal is my favorite stone and this is one of your best rings! Love your creativity and dedication. Very beautiful!
absaloutly beautiful

This man has balls of steel. I wouldnt dare put my finger anywhere near that thing if it's spinning bryh
This.. god I was clenching hard.
Please stay safe Patrick..
What? I make around 5 rings a day this way and there's nothing that can happen. Evn in case your finger would get stuck in the ring while spinning, it would not do any damage. The lathe he is using is around 500w, so you can stop the jaws find two fingers if you have strong grip, so it's not dangerous at all. Would't do that on 2KW lathe tho.
@@albertastrofimovas i dislocated my finger socket once when i was buffing my acrylic piece using it.
Another beautiful ring. Great work Patrick.
this ring is probably one of the most beautiful things ive seen
Wow! That's incredibly beautiful ring 😍😍😍

It looks awesome.
That is one of the most beautiful and incredible rings I’ve ever seen.
i think this is my new favorite ring
Love this ring, the material is incredible.
Would you consider using opal in a “halo-style” ring with rose gold or copper material?
Beautiful material 👌
Oh wow it's so pretty
Wow, just wow
I am blown away by the true beauty of this ring!! 😍 This would be perfect for me since I was born in October! LOVE THIS PATRICK KEEP IT UP 😍❤️🔥
Amazing work ❤️
I am truly amazed. Great work. I love opal stones. To see it as a ring is so unique. I really want one now. You do very beautiful work.
So crazy i love it 😻💚💚
Just got mine a few days ago, and it is by far the dopest thing I have ever seen 🥰
Wow amazing job 👍
Love this ring with the obsidian ✌
So cool!!
Awesome ring man I loved the way the light reflects the colours on the ring.
That’s a beautiful ring!
STUNNING! 💜 :D
You are one of the most talented ring crafters I’ve ever seen holy hell.
Alright another awesome video to watch!
This should be the last skin you could unlock for weapon in CoD: MW.
pretty dope
opal is amazing the colors are beyond speechless 💯🔥
Love it
Thats because its not real opal..
You've come so far dude, I remember when Matt shouted you out on dope or nope, that ring was cool. Your craftsmanship is amazing.
I love everyone of you rings 👍
Beautiful, I want it.
Holy SHIT that is BEAUTIFUL. Fantastic job, very inspiring!
Love the gt
CONGRATS ON BUYING THE STRAD MANS FORD GT!!!!!
And also it’s cool to know your from Utah
That’s awesome
Didn’t know you made 250k from rings lol
Wasn’t James’ gt 350?
He made a ring in a short amount of mins and cost prob 3-5 in materials... Prob sold for $1000. Not hard to make 250k when you're marking up your product that much and selling a lot of them.
That is probably the most beautiful ring yet :))
Nice work
I'd love to see you go back to this ring and mirror finish each face you made. Make it glassy smooth
This one is beautiful. I've never liked opal... now I want to have some.
Thare is something very interesting in watching someone make rings
I like it.
Me to
Beautiful,
Definitely the prettiest ring you’ve made
That's awesome! I gotta use that opal on one of my knives! Great work!👍😁
I wasn't very convinced about the obsidian finish, but wow, it looks beautiful.
The neon colors on the video are amazing. Something like that would be awesome to see in person.
it's so good 😃😃😃
This looks cool
I hear cool backing track in this video
It's beautiful . I want one. ❤😁
I need this ring I love this ring
I like this ring
I want this tipe of ring. How much you want for it?
It's real opal glued together in a resin. It's actually a brilliant idea to keep the cost down.
Very nice
Dude that looks so good and opal is my birth stone
Nice ring
love your work, watching you from the beginning. can you do a video about the tools you use too make rings?
That looked so amazing! You should try one of those paired with carbon fiber. I don’t know if that would be difficult or not but I think it look pretty cool.
That ring is sweet I like opal.
Beautiful work and the synthetic Opals have come a long way. You are creating true one off rings that no one can touch.
The only thing I noticed is the slight grind marks in the bevels themselves. Maybe a finer grit on the belt sander so the polishing compound can remove the grind marks completely.
Whoa 🤯
1000th like... let’s go!!! Amazing ring! So amazing.🤯
Love the shirt!
I bought this ring because of this vid. :)
My birth stone 💜😊
Amazing work. You should make Aragon’s ring and every lantern corps ring from DC Comics. Plus when you can should add coolant lubricant spray system to your drill so you don’t have have to fill up and use water bottle. Also when you can you should add a dust collection system so there’s less dust.
