Making a Rose Gold, Meteorite, and Carbon Fiber Ring for Sean Kelly from Jersey Champs

  • A few months ago, Sean Kelly form Jersey Champs made me a custom basketball jersey themed around Godzilla for my R32 GTR. In return I wanted to make him a really special ring. The ring is designed to match Sean's favorite watch. It features a carbon fiber core with a meteorite band down the middle accented by two strips of rose gold. This is one of my most complicated rings and was one of my favorite projects to work on!

The contrast of the materials is just amazing, I love how the stacking really draws the eye to the crazy texture and patterns of the meteorite.
    Very cool ring!

I love to watch your videos from time to time! Great looking ring!
I have had an idea for a ring for a very long time now and would love to see you make it. It's a magnetic spinner, where the spinning part has it's magnetic poles aligned with the base magnetic poles so that the spinning part of the ring floats around the base. This spinner would spin for a very long time since it would have almost no friction.
Both parts could also be overlayed with blue gold (gold mixed with iron) to make it look really cool, since iron works well with magnesism. Other types of gold would block the magnetic spinning effect.
Please let me know if you are interested in making such a ring!

WOW awesome ring man!!! I'm just wondering, in one of your vids a while ago I think you said the acid got into the carbon fibre when you etched the meteorite. How'd you go about it here? Do you also put a clear coat or something on to stop the meteorite from rusting? Great work.

  • @pullupbow

Are you not able to impregnate the center of a finished ring with forged carbon weave, and just resin/pressure it? Almost the same idea as when you used the sand?
That would maybe prevent the need to put carbon pucks in the lathe? 🤔
