"Immigrant Song" Drum Lesson Breakdown - Time Stamps Included
1:16 - We breakdown this Led Zeppelin song first by playing along to the music
1:55 - We review how to count the beats especially for this song where losing your beat is going to happen. Just remember to take it slow and that you can build up speed as you get better with practice
2:39 We begin the drum beat breakdown and focus on how the bass drum is "independent" from what's going on with your hands
3:35 - For the next section, we need to cover the prep stroke so that timing and rhythm stays consistent
5:41 - There are ghost notes in this song which are just barely there but will help separate you from the drummers that ignore them or don't know they're supposed to play them
7:55 - We begin to put it all together at full speed
8:20 - Important! We go over how to get to the required double kick speed into your drumming for this song and others
11:10 - Review some final reminders and tips

my pleasure bud!
You’re a very good teacher!
I know it was a while back but THANK YOU for the psychosocial tutorial i finally got it down with the double bass👍
thats great man!My pleasure, what song are you working on now?
Right now I'm learning Master of Puppets and I'm for sure doing this one
Best video on this beat so far!
Thanks! one of my favorite songs
My pleasure!
What a great how-to video! Kudos!!!

Excelente leccion! Gracias!
thanks!
Thanks for this, I’m taking lessons but I only take a class every Friday and sometimes need something on a song explained, thanks for this.
Anytime! If you need additional help it wouldn't hurt to try a lesson for free.
Fantastic lesson, thank you!
My pleasure!
What other songs are you working on?
@@E7MusicSchoolalso working on When the Levee Breaks, think I have the main groove and tge first fill but that's it so far.
Very well explained! Thank you
Thanks!! :)
Great lesson and nice new studio!
thanks man! It was a lot of work, and seemed to NEVER end, lol... so glad to have it done.
I love this song🤘🤘
me too! lot of fun to play,... and the leg can REALLY get sore towards the end!
MORE LED (like D'yer Maker), you're the best teacher on UA-cam!
thanks so much Max!! Have you considered having a live lesson with me?
Really well explained thank you. I am trying to learn this song myself.
A sticking point for me is actually the hats beat. I have been going over the bass drum "toe/ball" technique with my tutor. Its nearly there, just need better consistency.
You can do it! Let me know if I can be of any help :)
That ghost note on the snare is what really drives the beat.
yep, he had great control of both his hands and feet
@@E7MusicSchool but how to do this song sir? ua-cam.com/video/VOk3-JFiC4Y/v-deo.html
@@coverdestroyer3572 I can show you step by step how to play that by doing live weekly lessons with me! Email me at Jeremy@thedrumprofessor.com
I'll schedule you in, first lesson is free :)
Even though I can play it I could never explain it like this video.
Thank you!
My pleasure!
Like the new set up
Hey thanks man!! I had a 1,000 Sq. Ft. Studio built
The money shot's at 11:25
Good Teacher
thanks!
Hey man can you please please do covered in chrome by violent soho, love ur content btw
Thanks for the explanation, the drums for this song are really difficult to play
Agreed! My pleasure
I know the focus of the video is the bass technique but I absolutely love the sound of your snare. So heavy and powerful. I'm kind of a novice when it comes to parts, what snare and muffling/tuning were you using in this video?
Can you demonstrate the main beat of Walk this Way? Having problems with the three kicks in a row. Thanks!
We use the same technique with the bass (at least with this song and the single pedal). I'm currently trying to learn the swivel technique with the double bass pedal. I'm really struggling with this at the moment!
Im happy to help just let me know :)
Are you going to be doing more AC/DC after thunderstruck? Btw keep up the good work! U earned a sub
yep! awesome thanks bud!
Thank you for the informative lesson. I practice this song till 11pm last night struggling with my beater bouncing causing a triplet. Guitarist got aggravated with me, this song has to tight to sound good everyone is doing the same beat! The Wanton Song is another one you should do! I need help with that one!
Oh yeah, the bass pattern is tuff on this one for sure!
you tried cutting a port in your reso? ik its not very bonzo, but it might help with a bit of that unwanted beater bounce
Can you do "Fuel" by Metallica? Or maybe RTL.
I can’t get the bass pattern right without screwing up the 8th notes on the hi hat. Gotta work on the independence between the two. But I get the snare with the ghost note :) Update: I can play it slightly just gotta speed it up
it takes time and proper practice. you can do it!! if you would like some help you can have a live drum lesson with me, email me at Jeremy@thedrumprofessor.com
I am having exactly the same issue.
also can you please do Territorial Pissings by Nirvana?
Awesome .. but can u do NOVEMBER RAIN by Guns and Roses
Can you do "from whom the bell tolls" from Metallica
Love that song! Added..
The Drum Professor Nice. I can't find any totorials on "from whom the bell tolls" on youtube. You will be the first one to make a totorial on it.
Can you do "Welcome To The Jungle" by Guns n' Roses?
added to que!
Here’s my hang up, EVERY tutorial says straight 8th notes on hi hats. It sure as hell sounds to me like he is NOT playing it that way, I’ve yet to hear someone explain this. Thoughts?
Probably be easier if you would like to do a live drum lesson with me, email me at Jeremy@thedrumprofessor.com We can go over it for ya!
Its not straight 8ths to me. You can hear 16ths. Even if its echo you can hear them. I like to just play a paradiddle between the snare and HH.
Yeah on the Led Zeppelin record, there's a 16th note pattern on the HHs sometimes in the "ghost note" position.
jeez you havent uploaded in a while
Hey Gavin!! I know :/ I was pretty sick for a bit there, and on vacation!
1st
Can you please do Ain't it fun by Paramore and Bring me to life by Evanescence :-)
Ahahahaha... No. Both those bands suck balls
Ja ka facts
Wrong hands....
I think what you're doing in terms of making people practice lifting the beater off the drum just fucks people up; focus on hitting the note on time and it'll come naturally.
we all have our opinions, but theres several reasons WHY it works well. Once people get the mechanics down then they can have it come more naturally.
