Sam (IG: hardupgarage) was deeply inspired by the Fast & Furious franchise and the most legendary car of the series might be Dominic Toretto's Dodge Charger. He found a secretive auction where he bought a prop car from Fast & Furious live, but in fact it was a real car used in the film. This is the story of the NASCharger. Check out Sam's channel here: bit.ly/36oFAY0

5 minutes talking about this shift knob and we don't get to even see it. Nice.
That was heartbreaking indeed hahaha
agreed!
Yeah I wasn’t happy about that
Just have to go there I guess, share when you are there.
this. need to see it!
I loved the part where he says " I didn't want to send it off and pay someone $2,500 to build a roll cage. I want someone to come to my shop... I want to learn. I want to build this car with my hands." Atta boy! Very cool project and you've done it yourself. Well done!
“I bought some stuff that I don’t need with the money that I do need”
I'm the same.
We all are 🤘
Words to live by
Me to all the time
I'm broke now, but my bike looks sick!
This has been my favorite VinWiki vid yet. This guy may not have a ton of hands on experience, but he’s not afraid to admit it. And he’s humble enough to ask how to do it. Very cool. I like his spirit, too, jumping head first into a huge project like that.
this man literally welded a car to a car to make a car
Tyler Grayford your description is accurate...
Yo dawg, I heard you like cars...
official clown business So i put a car on your car so you can drive your car while driving a car
Timothy Iorlano party pooper
@@officialclownbusiness7788 . underrated comment
This is the same Sam Hard that showed Rob Pitts around London.
Ohhh thanks for the clarification. That's awesome. "You Legend."
So the question is... what is he showing to who being he’s here in the US? lol
Ok ill be nice then. Any friend of rabbit is a friend of mine.
VINwiki, this is all making sense now.
I love you guys and the content you put out. Would y'all consider at least adopting the "George Carlin rule" on language? In today's' societal discourse many of the words you "bleep" out are pretty mainstream, even on countless public access venues like radio, and television. H***! CNN had a field day with the S***hole countries debacle on a live feed. Would you also consider letting Sam do content from England and you can edit it and put it out from VinWiki? This car guy is a "Legend". Thanks again!
12:45 "I'll have help along the way, because i aint no genius" life applicable statement right there. spot on
“I’m an average worker I have no money” -continues to buy 4 cars
Abesss he sold his cars to afford it/
When you grow up with money that's what you think is average
Sponsored UA-camrs "I have no money." and regular working stiffs watching UA-cam "I have no money." are two completely different amounts of money.🤓
All these mechanics say anyone can do this. Problem is they all have money.
People in other countries know how to save.
“I’ll build it myself, help along the way because I ain’t no Genius”
I fee you on that 😂
ojeda tony lol I know how you feel
That one hit home lol
So Dom's Mopar and Roman's Lambo are both restored and went to SEMA? That's so cool!
Let's hope they don't street race after the show😂😂😂
@@yazansakran3326 why not are you crazy?!
@@yazansakran3326 and by that you obviously mean "we hope they DO race!" lol
What a time to be alive.
Also Rob Dahm and his 4 rotor RX-7
Proud to call this legend my friend. Love ya brother!
I've got to say, your impressions weren't too far off after hearing him 😂
We need more rob and dad stories
Hes a bell end. I bet he's stopped spelling words the english way eg no u in colour because he's spent 5 mins in america
If anything, charging headfirst into a build like this and doing it, as he said “hot rod style,” really encompasses the F&F spirit so much more than multi-hundred thousand dollar true to screen rebuilds. This is the type of story that I could see as a build montage scene out of an actual F&F movie. Huge respect, an insane prospect for a first build, and clearly it came out incredible!
I just watched a 17 minute video and somehow was left wanting more.
Thats exactly why he said at the beginning his voice gets him stuff others cant
Chinese buffet of car videos.
I coundnt get through 3 minutes
It just realized that it was a 17 min video after completely watching it and then reading your comment. 😂
Yea they had shit for pics
measure twice, cut once was def not applied in this build
Jesse Stapleton cut, measure, cut🤙
Yea like how tf you didn’t measure the wheel base 😂
What's a measuring tape?
Measure once, cut twice
@@Blue_Flame_Raptor and it's still too short!
I think he did a decent job for his first true build. I gotta give him prop's for doing it old school. I knew guys while growing up that where genius , and all did it the old school way because there wasn't alot of that stuff available ( I.e) jig's ,laser leveling, etc, and for the quality of the work they turned out was amazing. The days of true craftsman , are over . Nowadays if it doesn't almost build itself , they'll pay someone because none of them k ow how to figure things out for themselves. Well done dude and liked hearing you did it yourself, well helped do it all anyways.
I admire the bravery in yourself man I know the feeling (hardly comparatively) of being past the point of no return and being overwhelmed with the thought of it never being completed, that’s how you know your doing something amazing!
We need more on this car, I'd love to see it on Build Biology
Lol sorry about the un-intentional plug. But that would be a great watch. We need this NasCharger on a ramp
Totally agree, sounds badass as fuck, wanna see that shift knob.
I would like to see someone else with it B4 this guy got it.
This is the embodiment of true car guy. It doesn't matter what anyone says about the value or what you "should" do because all that matters is your vision and making the car into what you want it to be because that'll make you happy with it. Respect bro
This is by far my favorite VINWiki episode. Awesome presentation, dynamic & articulate speaker, Ed's overly-assertive bleeping... it works, quite well.
Walker was, by all accounts, a pretty amazing guy. Nice mention and tribute without overpowering the rest of the story. Cheers.
Hey, I just wanted to tell you, Ed. I love these videos. I have restored cars for most of my life. I'm 58 and hate the cold weather and arthritis now. I'm so glad I can relate to your videos and love the way you put it.
This guy tells an amazing story. Please tell me his VinWiki session lasted long enough to have more stories coming. We need more of this true car guy!
I need to get back!!
“Fast and Furious Live”? Never heard of it.
Went to see it in Glasgow is was actually pretty well don’t but very cringe
" Fast & Furious Live review - a stinker in both senses. ... On the evidence of Fast & Furious Live, a £25m arena show featuring 11 stunt performers and around 20 vehicles, Universal Studios has overestimated the goodwill toward its hit franchise"
Its like no one wants to remember that TMNT Live was a thing.
I think they actually ad this at Universal Studios at one point.
A '77 Mustang II from the '70s Charlies Angles tv show would have more screen cred than this.
But I like the guy's tenacity.
I feel like a guy buying a nascar outside the US should be a story on its own
WOW! One of the top ten storytellers yet on VINwiki. I would love to hear more by him especially with Rabbit.
This guy looks like he lives" A quarter mile at a time".
0.40 Kilometers at a time
Honda drivers add: for those 36 seconds Im free
@anonymous Two dimes and a nickel.
@@iare19 You know there are 7 second Honda Drag cars right.
lmao
So that looks like Freddy and Sam have two legendary movie cars that are now rebuilt and looking better than ever. Both time crunched for Sema. Absolutely incredible.
But no matter what he does, Freddys Lamborghini will never be as iconic as the Charger.
@@dyent, it's not a competition for us, both are special in their own way; however, I understand where you are coming from with the Charger being in a more iconic part of the series than the Murcielago.
BY THE WAY SAM.... AS I WAS WRITING U THE VIDEO WAS AT U TRYING TO FIND SOME 1 W/ THE ROLL CAGE BENDER & SHOWING & U LEARNING 1 ST HAND hand's all on deck w/ the rides here !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! super cool story.. now i can go back & finish watching the story til the ending.................. yeeeeee haaaaaaaaaaaaaa hard up garage u really rock !!!!!!!!!!!!!
hope you remembered to put in the right gearbox. the one with 26 gears like in the fast and furious movies.
And you can downshift at any speed and accelerate. Tached out in 5th and need to pass someone? Downshift to 2nd and nail it!
Ahhh, the full send sequential
This guy seems legit. Good man.
One of the best storys in a while, nothing like genuine and wholesome😂
Funniest parts was the bucket seat part. “Would you consider putting our seats in it? Uhhh yeah... “ haha had me dying.
U got balls kid for not just putting a drive train in it and calling it a day.
Awesome car and awesome build!!!! Also, VERY cool that you paid homage to the great Paul Walker. He was a kind hearted charitable guy that passed away doing what he loved. He will never be forgotten by true car guys.
Sam is an awesome guy and shared several amazing stories. He also recently sold me some fun Fast and Furious artifacts that are going to make for some fun stories.
Come on get Craig Lieberman on the show!
Ed i have a 1998 BMW E39 535i but trying to find details about it is hard,I am also trying to find another 535i that is manual and appeared on Top gear UK all i can find out is it is on a SORN and has not been on the road since 2007 ??? Am i right that your site only holds details on High end cars like Porsche,Aston Martin,Lambo's or do you hold details on most cars ???? 50K +
Accidentally stumbled on this as soon as it was posted. Neat.
Hopefully you will read this about Paul Walker: About a week before he died he was in a jewelry store and over a heard a young couple looking at some wedding rings. The picked one out and asked how much it was the Jeweler said $10,000 they said oh that is too much . Paul over head this and walked over and said I will take care of it and he bought the ring for the couple . Even through all the fame he never let it go to his head and always stayed grounded
Nobody cares. Why did Paul walker cross the road? Because he wasn't wearing a seat belt. 😂😂
Wow.! You are so funny
"I charge my car a quarter mile at a time."
Side note, it's funny that a Charger had to be charged up.
XDDDD
Lol
That is one hell of an incredible story and build. I tip my hat to you sir.
I’m just gonna say it, I absolutely love this guy and his enthusiastic stories!! Definitely a fan!!
The hard nas charger..... The epic build.... You know it #hardupforlife............ One of the coolest guys I've met..... And the very cool Derek.....
So this has to be the best video I have watched yet. I am blown away by the entire history of this man's build. Hope to see you at SEMA cause I live in Las Vegas.
This guy describes the exact reason I loved Paul. One of the best stories so far!
He still owes me a 10 second car.

@@Hardupgarage Yea I wish I would have gone. Is it going to be there next year? I will be there and I'd love to see it in person.
This story made my eyes water. Beautiful story about how you brought that charger alive. As a boy who grew up with classic muscle and fell in love with imports in my later years. Respect ✊
Such a great story. I love this channel. Thanks for the great content Ed!
Totally amazing project! As a veteran I remember watching the Fast and Furious series during deployments.
This guy is funny. Everything is life changing to him. It was a life changing event for me to watch him telling the story. Great and engaging video.
Awesome story - couldn’t have dreamt up a better storyline. That’s just straight up hardcore!!
*Rabbits voice* “you LEGEND”
What a great video!! This story gave me goosebumps. Hard up garage is the best storyteller..Thank you
One of the best stories on VINWiki. Great story teller.
Turn left, turn left, turn left
except infineon and watkins glen, they have rights too :P
@@alexander1485 Yeah they've been introducing more "road" tracks to nascar over the years.
yeoh yuanxi There *was* a time when they were all left-turn hillbillies because the cars were or were made like moonshine runners, which were fast. Didn't take long to change though after NASCAR came into being (interesting story, look it up) so there are and have been some pretty good road drivers in there as well and they ran a few road courses as part of the season and some infield road course stuff as well, I believe. I don't think any of the oval boys are rally worthy, though. Maybe a couple of naturals, but in the main, no.
Of all the different kinds of racing, rallying is where the big dogs live. The Finns, Brits and the French have produced some terrifyingly good drivers.
Turning left sounds easy till you do it at 200mph with like 39 other ppl on all sides of the car.
@@deltavee2 Could not agree more. Rally drivers are another breed of driver, entirely. And the guys that run as co-drivers... fuckin hell. I'mma have to say nope to that one.
Last time I was this early, Ed still thought there was hope for a cheap Reventon.
Well that was yesterday's episode so isn't that inventive that comment.
@@jus__gra It's a worn out meme that people get wrong all the time. Every time I see someone post this, I think to myself, "Yeah, the last time you were this early, your father was still apologizing to your mother for firing too soon." (You're free to use it, if you want." ;)
@@jackielinde7568 You're telling me. Where's the I haven't been this early since the lighting was off sound wasn't perfect and the videos lasted 8 minutes... Back when VinWiki was starting off. 👌

By far one of the coolest stories on this channel because this guy is no rich boy he is just a geezer
"He did the stare and drive on you, didn't he? He got that from me!"
Cody Zazulak part 2 was actually a great fun ride adventure that did well
At 16:19 he says "[Paul Walker] you'll never meet him..."
Paul was my neighbor growing up! I have a picture of Paul and I circa 2002, age 4, during a block party!
edit: I should add, that is probably my only interaction with him. As he is 20+ years older than I.
James Thompson lies.....
@@brysonh.1093 maybe he was 4...
Yes, he is about 20 or so in the pic. As far as I know, that's the only time I met him. I having nothing to gain here by lying. I don't really care whether you think it's true or not.
Jarrett Konrad op is saying that they were 4, not Paul..
thats cool share the pic :D
I really like this guy, he's real, modest, and cool. I like seeing good people catch a break!
Definitely the best one yet. RIP PAUL WALKER!!!
Car looks even more bad a$$ in person. Congrats on your first VinWiki Sam! Great seeing you at SEMA!
This was one of your best stories. God that was an amazing car history
As a Carl Edwards fan, I nearly fainted when he said he cut it up!
My first car was a 1973 Plymouth Duster when I was 16yo in high school. So I'm a Mopar fan. Thanks for posting this and take good care of that Dodge Charger! :)
"I'm really rich, let me tell you how lucky I am that I bought stuff!" -moral of the story here: people only start listening to you when you have something.
