It just goes to show us that there are some really over zealous officers that keep escalating what is otherwise a calm and cooperative situation. There's gotta be something in a policeman handbook that says that you shouldn't be rough with
      a surrendering suspect.

Seems like a high quality dash cam that records front and rear is close to mandatory for any newer, new, expensive car. Nice to have a video and audio record of what transpired before, during, and after an accident and/or police interaction.

better have a spare hidden one. from the sounds of this situation, the cop had already broken a few laws not reading them their rights, pulling a gun on them and handcuffing them with no evidence of a crime. if he saw the dashcam chances are he would take it and destroy it.

@@megaangelic I don't know why people think cops can break laws and not be held accountable. Brandishing a firearm is illegal. I am not certain what legal limits the police are trained in use of their firearms, but there is a level a merit that must be beyond scrutiny as they are allowed to "in the course and scope of his or her official duties" according to Arkansas state law. It sounds to me like immediately pulling a gun on someone who pulled over and was cooperative would not pass merit to detain and hold them at gun point. The officer needs to be taught how to respect others or removed from the force.

Having been ticketed in about 10 states, it is amazing the variability of punishments from state to state. But the biggest factor you'll face is the emotions of the cop that pulled you over. They can vary from a verbal warning to them actually killing you. Have fun, but BE CAREFUL out there.

In all my youthful years of being ticketed for speeding, and even one reckless driving arrest where the cop thought I was going to hit him and was a legitimate jerk as indicated by his fellow officers, I’ve only encountered two cops who were emotionally charged.
One who apparently had difficulty sneaking up behind me to pull me over as I maneuvered my way through heavy rush hour traffic. And the other was a school police officer who got his ego hurt because I honked my horn a couple of times at the driver in front of me who stopped in the middle of the road for no unidentifiable reason, but I later discovered why. I actually asked the school cop to deescalate because he was so pissed off.
Nonetheless, those cops obviously didn’t kill me and or even lay a single finger on me for that matter.

Scariest part was I looked down right as the sirens went of as I looked at my speed...105mph... I was so tired my foot started to get heavy and being distracted with a few friends in the car I didn't know I was even going over 90.. So he pulls us over and says "You know I've been following you for like 10 minutes" immediately my mind was racing, thinking about all of the crimes I might have just committed. The cop looks at us and says "at least your under control, make sure to slow it down a little till you get home" and he just wrote me a ticket for speeding at 85mph in a 65mph zone...To this day I wonder what else I did or if he was just following me for 10 minutes to see if I would speed at some point. Which I think he knew was inevitable in that mustang.

A few years ago New York instituted a "Driver Responsibility Assessment Fee" which charges you $100 if you accumulate six NYS points (in-state and out-of-state drivers) over an 18 month period. They add $75 for each additional point over 6. So a single speeding ticket can zap you for $750 over 3 years. If they get you on two charges, it adds up super fast. No idea of what would happen if you were caught doing 110 through the Empire State.

Seems like a lot of states are starting to crack down on speeding. Unfortunately, they seem to be ignoring the guy in the F150 going over 100 MPH while focusing on cars that are actually built to handle higher speeds in a much safer manner. I can't tell you the number of times I've seen a 5000+ lbs SUV or truck running at high speeds, passing me in my 3300 lbs sports car. Yet, who gets targeted? The sports car.
This is why I think graded licenses would be a good idea. People willing to put in the track time and get certified beyond the typical drivers' education should be afforded the ability to exercise higher speeds on open roads if desired. Then they could actually post safe limits for the enthusiast as well as keep the general population safer. I mean, the Autobahn in Germany works pretty well -- we have plenty of places where this would work in the US.

I remember on a roadtrip with my mom once, on the freeway with her minivan she was driving slow in the left lane as usual impeding traffic because “its under the speed limit”. Loud challenger passes her on the right at moderate rpms and barely 5-10 mph faster, yet she goes “oh shoot” and swerves in the lane. ???? We could have fishtailed and died tbh.

I got pulled over in Kentucky for having a radio in my car that I listen to trains on when I am filming them for my channel. I have a license for the radio but the cops didn't know the law and arrested me and impounded my car. The judge threw the case out when I showed a copy of the law and a copy of my radio license. I had been falsely arrested and never got an apology. I hired a local attorney since I live in Ohio and the day before my trial my attorney called and told me that her husband was a cop with the same department. I was out over 2 thousand dollars and spent the day in jail when I never even broke any laws! It was like being on the Twilight Zone. That was my first time to ever sit in the back of a cop car and it was a hot summer day, the windows rolled up and the engine off while they played with my radios, them not knowing a thing about that kind of stuff. 10 over on the highway is normal in the midwest. Too much distance to cover and the roads are flat and wide. Nobody gives a shit as long as you arent being a complete tard.

Police radar have an error of +/-5 mph generally, so in almost all circumstances they can't or won't try to take you to court because it's hard as shit to prove. Unless they ask how fast you're going and you say "Oh I'm not sure about 70". In the late 80s We were coming back from Texas on route 40 in Tennessee. A Camaro passed us doing about 90 We were in a car with a turbo charged four cylinder 5 speed manual. So I pulled out behind him and caught up. A lot of cars in the late eighties were lozenger shaped so if you were not looking close they all looked about alike. Where 40 crosses the mountain there is a turn. Right at the top a Tennessee trooper was running radar. We could see him throw things down and get ready to chase then we were around the turn LOL in the right lane was 4 newer cars all silver as was ours . I slid over in the middle and matched speed. The Camaro floored it. The trooper came up and slowed down looking in each car and people looked right back. He didn't know which was which. He took off and soon ran down the Camaro. When we went by he had his gun out ordering the Camaro driver out. I would have loved to hear the driver explaining how he had no clue who I was.

Pro Tip: Right when you top a hill and see the light bar on their roof or your laser detector starts shitting on you, Stomp the brake as hard as you can and hold it til you are at the speed limit and then let off. When you slow down this fast the return pulses to the radar gun are giving different speeds every pulse and it wont lock in a speed until it gets several pulses in a row that are the same number. When you do this properly, they will be shaking and hitting on the radar gun as you pass by looking confused. But they stay there and don't come.

as far as I know, modern radars can keep a record of each pulse in memory for purposes like calibration and some will even be able to tell when you're decelerating and display the peak speed rather than a steady speed for when you slow down. Plus, a lot of departments are switching to lidar which can get a continuous measure of your overall speed. I think some of the newer ones can even display this info as both velocity and acceleration at the same time. So the old braking trick might not be so useful in the near future.

I got a Ticket in Arkansas years ago. I am from NC and while driving home, I observed a Highway Patrol coming closer from behind me. I was in the middle of 7 cars moving along the road at about same speed. I observed the Highway Patrol getting between each car behind me then move up until he got to me with NC license Plate. He turned lights on and pulled me over. He explained he had clocked me speeding and I would have to go with him to Courthouse to pay fine of $300.00 right then. I did not have that much on me as he stated cash only would be accepted. When I told him I did not have that much on me he then stated that I would have to surrender my NCDL to him and send money back to get them back once I was at home. I made him write me a receipt to show if needed and the rest of my trip. This all happened on a Friday. On Monday I got money order and sent it to them via USPS. I received my Driver License on Tuesday. No way they got my payment then sent NCDL back in that time frame. I am retired now and DO NOT drive through Arkansas any more!!!

@@alexanderdavis6302 20+ and/or 80 is reckless in VA. so if someone was going 70 in a 50 or if they were going 80 in a 65 either way it’s both reckless

My 76 in a 70 ticket and mandatory court agrees, va is the worst. If you can avoid it you should because if you get a ticket you will have no choice but court

I interpret "reckless" as "wreckless," which is the goal.

Most officer do. Over 75% of police officers struggle with PTSD and depression. Police suicide rates are above the charts right now. With the whole world against, trying to kill you, and seeing dead bodies, overdoses, and just stuff no person could be prepared to see, DAILY, it takes a toll on officers. Look at a channel called "Mike the cop"'s video "Law enforcement hurt lockers" it opens your eyes to the realness of police officers lives

Cops are first line of defense when it comes to protecting the public, and they're also the first target for ridicule. Combine that with qualitative aspects of each officer's life and you don't have the best workers welfare. You can say they signed up for this. But in a way it's a sacrifice, and if there were no cops there would be no such thing as civilization or private property. Many officers in cities work 60+ hours. Those without a fiance or wife tend to stay that way for a long time due to lack of free time. Meaning they live alone and do this with no social support outside of work. Hence the suicide rates.

Travis Johnson they shouldn’t be police men anymore. Automatically. They are not mentally able to handle the job anymore at this point

If that were true, there would be even less police officers in a profession where there aren't a lot anyway
