I’m 72 and have chronic fatigue syndrome as a consequence of contracting Lyme disease, and I can’t begin to express how much pleasure your efforts are bringing me. I remember having the same strength and stamina that you demonstrate when I was YOUR age, and vicariously sharing in your energy is SO gratifying. Your home is going to be a showpiece, and I really appreciate watching your enthusiastic willingness to transform it back to its original grandeur. Thank you so much for your long videos of the process. I love the longer length of them. They are SO entertaining!
Alles Gute für deine Gesundheit 💐💪🏼❤
fellow chronic fatigue haver here except 18 years old haha it's certainly fun to live all these activities vicariously through Jenna's videos!
We are all living vicariously through Jenna and Nick!
All the very best wishes to you. I too enjoy Jenna's videos a lot and am amazed by her energy and enthusiasm. Take care x
Sending you a hug from Long Island 😀.
The neighbors must be SO HAPPY you are there!
They live in the forest I doubt they care
Edit: I stand corrected
I thought same thing!
I would have bought or rented a good schredder.
That view from the pool 😍😍😍
I was thinking the same, either they will love the fact that your cleaning it up vs it being an eye sore or they will be annoyed thar they have someone living there vs thr quite it was, but I truly hope it's the first.
i love how jenna went from crocheting, knitting, and sewing clothes to full on renovating a house. keep up the content!!!
We love a diverse queen
And I went from renovating houses to learning to sew when I saw her videos and got here. 😊
Having all these old photos of the house is amazing. I would totally have a display of them hanging somewhere in the finished house.
They should make coffee table books of the photos and the love letters
This series is the spotlight of my week
Same, the only thing I look forward to
Real
Could by my new daily series if she uploaded daily. The only other rehab like show i am watching right now is ( Escape to rural France ) that channel is enjoyable to watch as well.
Hi Guys, there is no comment box on my feed so I thought I’d leave my comment here. When I heard you talking about replacing a load bearing beam (that’s holding up the roof) by cutting out the rotten beam measuring it and putting a replacement, I said uh-oh, not that way. You need to put support in, quite a substantial support, before taking out the old rotting beam to replace it. Kind of like jacking up a car to support the car when you replace a tire. Be Safe!!! Have fun!!!
For sure we’re all enjoying watching you. Can’t get enough!!!!!
Same
This is one of the most romantic series of videos. The shared project, the genuine care for each other, and just the good ole wholesome banter...I would recommend these videos to anyone who wants to know what a healthy, loving couple looks like. So glad you found each other.
The Vintage Bombshell beach cabin series is similar. (UA-cam)
I agree. They're so cute! I feel the same with Shannon Makes on yt. She's redoing an 100 year old duplex with her boyfriend in Novascotia? Another province in Canada anyway.
THIS. It’s so sweet, they’re so positive all the time.
Spotted the lady with her hair in rollers on the picture ‘up close’ of the patio furniture. When you recreate the picture, you could recreate the hair in rollers! Memories of my mother and my aunt❤️
At 17:10
I thought that too!! Would be phenomenal
I thought that too!! Would be phenomenal 👏🏻
Aside from Jenna’s general personality, my favorite things are Nicks educational moments, and how supportive he is. When Jenna shows him/us something, Nick always says “Wowwwww”.
🤣💗
And he always agrees when something is pretty :)
It’s SO satisfying though when you do yard work because you NOTICE it. I’m sure y’all kept looking back and going “wow we did that” ❤
I did it one day in my life, raking leaves and yeah it was awesome but I saw why they paid me to do it cause I’m never doing that again.
You shouldn’t even have to explain yourself! It’s your home, do with it as you please. We are just here for the ride and so happy that you’ve accomplished so much so far!
I highly suspect a lot of what was there were invasive plants anyway. This makes an opportunity to make a garden of native plants that will be better in the long run
I'm guessing she's saying that mainly for Instagram. She has a lot of followers on that app too but they are WAY nastier and judgmental compared to her youtube viewers.
@@NinjaKittkattI hate that! I mean if you ain't got nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all!
"But you never know, my neighbour might have a pool soon" .... gods I love this channel
You must be physically exhausted every night. I give you both so much credit for tackling this project. It’s going to be phenomenal when it’s done.
Rent a chipper to shred all that greenery. A lot more will fit in that bin!
I was thinking that probably buy one for cost of the bin … good mulch too
That's exactly what I just suggested, before I saw your post. Excellent!
I thought exactly that
Such a good investment. Likely worth it in the long run!
I'm a geologist and share your joy in uncovering ROCKS!! Fifties is my favorite design style and as you go along uncovering the wonderful lines of the house and rock placement, I get so excited!! I can hardly wait for however long it takes to see the house back to its former glory, Jenna-style! Mmm, crocheted swimming pool cover....?
My bf is also a geologist and i am always telling him about this house and its rocks lol i will be showing him todays video
And everything is going to be baby blue, lime green and baby food orange!
😂😂😂
Lol
I would really recommend to you that if you are planning on keeping the piano in your house while you renovate. To wrap the piano up so it does not get destroyed from dust getting inside of it. It is very expensive to clean out pianos that have dust from a house renovation and just dust that accumulates over time. So I would wrap it up with even just saran wrap and make sure to get all sides of the piano like under the piano especially because dust can get everywhere.
When it comes to planning your landcaping, I highly recommend sustainable native plants to attract a wide range of local species, including pollinators. We did it years ago and it looks amazing with our MCM home.
I was literally sitting on my couch thinking “I wish I had a Jenna video I could watch while crocheting” This is perfect timing :)
I'm watching Jenna while crocheting! Twins!
triplets! 😝
@@justathumb what are ya'll making? I'm making an afghan for my niece and her new husband.
Tarp mover is a great idea. I worry about not reinforcing that decaying support beam. Just make a couple 2x4 pack column, cut to size and tap it into place.
I loved that nick said "our house" its so clear the intentions for this home. You both make a great team.
I find it intriguing ! Jenna goes back and forth from "my home" and "our home" in the original introduction video she mostly says "my", I have so many questions just out of pure curiosity who invested in the property ! I just love cost breakdowns on big renos like this
@@skylarberry3754 they are planning their future
@@skylarberry3754 it lines up with Nick"s face reveal being something so nonchalant and not a big deal. Also if I remember correctly Nick already has a career renovating homes so that means he's very knowledgeable on what needs to be done and what can be done safely, but it's also likely he knew about this house being on the market and brought it to Jenna's attention and the rest is history.
@@Sarah-with-an-HI‘m pretty sure they were already acquaintances in last years May because of her appearing in his 2023 recap and she has posted pictures with a pretty similar scenery back then 😅 but more we don’t know. It’s just sweet that they do it together for each other!
There’s an article online from the Vancouver Sun, Google it. They purchased it together as a couple (I think it’s just a slip of the tongue on her part - maybe from years of YouTubing/social media promoting her own things, it’s second nature for her to refer to herself, rather than “we”) and they are renovating it together - and good for them, I’m loving watching their progress, so enjoyable and they make a great team! And also, just reading so many peoples’ comments and feel the need to say, they shouldn’t feel the need to justify any of their decisions, it’s their property and they can do as they please. The property otherwise would have been abandoned and become even in more disrepair and they are giving it a new lease on life, making necessary changes to modernize (and repair) it for the next few generations, but also being sympathetic to the history of the property and architecture, bravo 👏🏼
I went back to your channel page to make sure that I hadn't missed any and I have watched every single one of these the day they come out and I'm kinda cracking up because I never 20 years ago that I would spend my time staring at my phone watching my tiny video screen showing people taking drywall out of their old house and putting it into a dumpster for 10 episodes. But here we are and I'm ready for this one! Lol
“OW! …I was gonna swear there, but I didn’t” is literally my life 😂❤
It should have been boring to watch people clear away foliage etc, but it was strangely satisfying. Don’t believe anyone who says Gen Z s are lazy. You two are amazing!
Well they’re young millennials actually (not that gen z is lazy)
Hi Jenna, please be careful with putting heavy things underneath trees. This causes the soil to compact which can ultimately lead to the death of the tree. The rule is to keep the entire crown projection of the tree clear. Many trees die after house renovations because of this reason and it would be such a shame if that happend to the trees in your yard. Anyway I love the series, you guys are doing such a good job!!
Good to know, thanks.
it looks like the bin is on the driveway, in the other videos you can see she coming out of the garage directly to the bin, so i guess it's ok
@milenaalbuquerque7813 but the future "lumber yard" they were talking about would not be I'm the driveway
I love seeing the way Nick is getting more comfortable in front of camera! You guys are doing great! Keep up the good work!
Those old photos look so frickin' cool to me, please do a gallery wall with, at least, some of them.
Blackberry's are a nightmare to get rid of. You need to keep cutting any bits that pop up if you cant get the roots up. Great update 2x👍
I hoped someone would comment this! We had massive issues getting rid of our blackberries. Please also don't just throw the cuttings into the yard because they absolutely will root again and you'll just spread them more.
I used to live in towns that had tons of blackberries. There were people who had goats you could rent to clear the patches because apparently goats can eat anything. 💕
Ya, there are companies that do it because the roots spread and dig deep into the earth.
This is why, when I bought a blackberry bush, I put it in a massive planter. I don't want to die of a thousand cuts trying to keep it in check. 😅
I was just about to comment this they wont stop growing haha
what a gorgeous property, a lot of work but for the labour, this is going to be a fantastic property...and a business expense!
Are you saying if I simply record my renovations and post them online it's a business expense?
@@arttificcer2324if it's monetize and that is your declared job (or one of them) yes.

Yard work is sooo exhausting. You guys not only cleared SOOO damn much brush but you did it with such a positive attitude. So amazing to watch! Nice job, keep it up!
I'm also a trimmed bush kinda girl, so I feel you on the landscaping 🤣
"The peanuts house". And Sir Nicholas loves everything you say. That was so, so cute.
It is going to be amazing!
I definitely think the finished house will need at least few items of peanut decor
@@secret_badass oh, great idea! Jenna can thrift them like her beloved lamp that she looked so hard for.
@@nancyk777 I just watched an old video yesterday where she made a painting for the living room in her old apartment, and now I’m imagining her making some peanuts paintings. It could be so cute with the rest of her style
You two have done such great work on your home! “Peanut house” is so cute name ! Your JOY ….is our joy! Thanks for sharing! ❤️♥️
I am going with Peanut Estate!
Neighbor peek out at 21:27 is awesome.
I saw that! They better all be nice to Jenna and Nick!
Me too😊
Good eye
🤣🤣🤣
😂
Cut it all down and restart. I’ve been doing landscaping for years. Sometimes it all needs to be taken out and reset. A fresh start for years of nice gardening.
If you hadn't bought this house, someone would have bulldozed it. So you do what you want to do, don't worry about other people - you have to live there!
It only took one little goat in my overgrown back yard...all cleaned up and I gave the goat back to the goat man..he can sell her again !!
this is so cute and silly
It's probably worth it to look into and consult with local experts about what plants are native to the area and will grow well on that slope. A carpet of greenery will be beautiful and much less work than a lawn in the long run.
Yeah, I'm wondering about a clover lawn; whimsical, insect friendly and low maintence. Unless one or both of the dogs are like my pug and like to capture bees and butterflies as involentary playmates. Come summer at least one a week needs rescuing.
I just can't believe how hard the two of you work each week. The transformation of the house--inside and out--is amazing!
People used to have gardeners that kept all that work done. You and Sir Nick did a really great job! Bravo!!😃🌺
Craftsman here: A large part of the disposal costs of the garden waste could have been saved with a shredder, especially as it provides a great basis for the future garden ;-)
Yeah, rent a shredder, it is easier to mulch and then carry in a wheelbarrow...
It's almost as if they don't research anything, tons of information on Google and social media. They are just shooting from the hip.
Landscaping does have a shelf life. Shrubs get overgrown and too big for the area it was planted in. Same with tress. Save your pictures so that when it comes time, you can maybe show them to a landscape designer and they can give you a plan or just ideas. With tree and plant development and proper planning, you will be able come up with plants that are more appropriate for your growing zone and climate. With all the rock you have, it would be so pretty with a bunch of evergreens and woodland plantings. It could look so pretty in time. And if you design it properly, you could make it as low maintenance as you like. ❤😊
I'm thinking one of those clover lawns; great for insect life, low maintence and very whimsical.... unless you've a dog who likes to make bees and butterflies involantary playmates like my pug. We always have to rescue the poor things.
You really need to hire a chipper to work with your garden waste, as the chips take up less space (there is less air between them) so you will get more in the bin. Also, blackberry/bramble bushes tend to have a tough root system, so if you don't get it all out, it will return next year so consider using weed suppressants so they don't see sunlight. You can pull back the suppressant every so often and get to the weakened stems and pull them out then replace the suppressant.
18:21 nick running with that tarp looks like when an octopus coils into a ball except for two of its legs and runs on the ocean floor 😆
Oh my, house foundation issues too & maybe the pool? Lol, "your neighbor may have a pool soon.". Your ability to look on the brighter or humorous side of an enormous project is why I keep watching & wishing you the very best. I believe you will get this done, one way or another. Even foundations can be repaired, with an Engineer & or experienced Contractor of course, but they can be rebuilt, for a price. The big question is, will the price be worth it to restore, or is bulldozing & rebuilding better? Don't be afraid to cut bait if restoring is more than bulldozing & rebuilding. I know you will figure it out. You got this.
She does have a great personality, I love it.
I really admire the amount of work you guys are doing. I'm a gardener and native plant landscaper, and absolutely agree that stuff needed to come out. I'm really happy that you're invested in adding plants back into the landscape - just take your time with it, and I suggest contacting native plant greenhouses in your area (a lot of what standard commercial greenhouses sell are exotic ornamentals that have little ecological value or are even invasive (not that every non-native is bad, but do your research)).
Not to bum you out, but what's your plan for when all that shrubbery regenerates (cuz it will)? Anyway, happy gardening!
This area was old growth rainforest but very rocky soil.. the native plants are moss, ferns, arbutus, douglas fir.... I wonder what kind of shrubs would grow well. Alder hahahaha.
Satin flower nursery on Vancouver island would be a good resource for native plants! Or maplewood flats on the mainland.
There are indigenous-run nurseries in the area that specialize in native species. Many great options for local sourcing near the home
View, style, house, pool, your work-all iconic!!
i really love that remote look, those rocky slopes and the whole glass front of your house. Great way to remove all the wilderness from it so you can start with the heavy work
I absolutely love this series. The only thing that comes to mind when I see the house and the photos is that the original owners must've been loaded! But I love that you're trying to bring back some of its charm without turning everything beige and grey
I highly recommend getting a power washer if you have running water. You’ll need it for your pool also once you start cleaning it up. With every thing you can use it on for your house it would be money well spent.
they started this week, so its going to be in the next video I think (saw it on instagram)
I love watching power washing omg that’s gonna be amazing!!!!!
So much this! I
Your drywall chucking skills clearly served you well when it came to clearing the yard out.
Perhaps you could turn your hillside into a terraced garden. FYI blackberry bushes are hard to keep from coming back. Also be careful on how much greenery you remove from hillside. It is what keeps your dirt from moving down to the neighbors
Yes! Plants and mushrooms hold the world together. No joke
Your neighbors are *thrilled* with what you're doing! You're making amazing progress. You two seem tireless.
Jenn, I loved your videos of crafting, but the house is EVEN better. Your channel is one of my favorites.
I just imagine your neighbors hearing you yell “peanut!”, and it makes me chuckle
Cordless Hedge Trimmer. I have a blackberry 'farm' too and the hedge trimmer cuts like butter.
This is the way
The other useful thing is a strong metal rake to clear away the brambles as you cut them. Brambles laugh at plastic rakes
Thank you. I was just coming here to suggest that.
It's amazing how a family who obviously loved the house and had a lot of great times there are no longer there, but the place was sold with so many of their possessions and memories/photos.
Yeah, hopefully some of the family photos were able to be returned to the seller.
Fun fact: they use handheld hedge cutters like that to cut ribs open for autopsies because there aren’t really autopsy-specific tools!
You should put your hair in rollers and recreate the photo! Scrapbook all of it, then and now. So lovely y’all are taking the time and effort to restore this home.
Oh you are a hard working couple! Would a wood chipper have been easier? The tarp was a great idea! Great job
The level of perseverance! I continue to be impressed. By muscles, back and feet hurt just watching 😂
It's refreshing to see young people with such determination you guys are such hard workers and your house and grounds are going to be fantastic! ❤😊
the trees roots keep the bank in place guys! beautiful home!
How cool is it to have old photos of the house. That's so special 🎉 I hope you find a way to display some when the house is done! ❤
I like the part where Jenna asked Nick, "What are we gonna do with all this space?" And Nick sidestepped the question. However, Jenna answered her own question using the old photographs and by uncovering the patio. It's a remarkable property!
What people usually have here in the nordics is a tractor powered wood chipper that can eat up to 8" trees and then chips them all to 1" chunks or sell that stuff to be burned for district heating and some farmers also have pellet crusher & chippers that chip and crush wood to uniform pellets for heating (works similar to an oil burner).
What a beautiful house you have been restoring and property you have been restoring. Thank God you came along and rescued it. I love watching your progress and cannot wait to see how beautiful it is when you are done. You will have a lifetime to appreciate all the hard work and time that you have put into it. What an amazing project.
Blackberrys will continue to grow back, so you will be clearing that area for a while until you get all the stubborn roots out!!
that's the dream, working on a dreamhouse you'll live in with the person you love ❤
SO true! Seems like such a fun adventure. Definitely one they'll be sharing with their families(y?) Once they've settled in.
Glad they've shared it with us too!
i LOVE makeover shows and videos, but this one is special because we get to see since day one what you're doing to renovate this house, i'm very invested in this!!! keep up the good work, hope you guys are having the fun it looks like on this process, best wishes ♥
Have you considered planting native plants to the area? They’re great for the environment and often draw in beautiful butterflies
The projects you tackle in a week of recording would take me 300-400 business days. You two are amazing!
Neat to see the old photos and how beautiful it all looked!
😅🤣😂🤣 thanks for the laugh signed going thru herksheimer's at 65 yo due to a parasite cleanse ! )
Another option would have been to rent a chipper. Then you would have very useful mulch. Very nice to see everything cleaned up.
Happy and proud of your hard work getting rid of all the brambles, roots and overgrowth. Gotta take it all out and plant when the big stuff with the house is done.
You guys are doing amazing work! It looks so good already!
"We got so much space, I don't know what to do with it..."
Party floating wooden deck?
Love the pictures! The lady in the curlers😂definite image from my youth.
Its really fun seeing all that two people can do when they work together!
My mom had blackberries. We asked the farmer who grew them across the road. They told us the black berries will always grow as long as they have a water source. In California we get droughts. They disappear but with enough rain they come back. Be careful there could be a constant water source you’re not aware of at the base of the house. The pool or a pipe under the house. They do make for great jam. 😊
Ugh, the natural beauty of this property is breathtaking. Keep pushing on!
It's so cool that you have all these pictures, I hope you will frame a few. So nostalgic. ❤
I agree, I love that she went through everything and saved pictures and throughout when she was cleaning pictures when they were cleaning out the house I love that she took the time to do that
Would be really cool to see a collage of old photos beside a collage of new memories in the home 😊
Great job guys! I'm really excited for you two! The yard is amazing!
Lol the neighbor taking a quick peek at 21:24 xD
Jenna posting makes my day 1000 times better💕
Is it really just the two of you doing all this work? My goodness! I’ve loved watching this whole process. You guys are hard workers with a great attitudes!
Thats a craaazy amount of work you guys did!
You literally cannot get rid of blackberries. Goats are great to keep them at bay. Even if you get roots out, the roots go everywhere
y'all's relationship is so cute 😭
Just found your channel, binged your house renovation most of the day, the neighbors must love you for cleaning this house up!
So incredible, you guys have made so much progress so quickly!!
This is my favorite new show. Love watching you turn this house back into something great.
Cut away! It's your property. I love all the exposed rocks. You guys are hard workers and thank goodness you started this project while young!
the definition of work smarter not harder
I love that you’re talking about decorating this place. I am looking forward to years of these weekly house videos. Long series are my favorite.
very admirable effort that you’re doing this clean up all by yourselves 👏 you were the right person to come along and save this house back to its original glory 🙌
Yeah, you're doing the right thing with the landscaping. Gotta get rid of the decades of neglect and start over with a clean slate, and also have room for the house work.
Looks so much better! Crazy how much progress you've made
That place is so epic, it will be amazing when you guys are done! The view is incredible as well.
Ok, IYKYK but seeing Nick fell that tree tells me the man has skills. My father in law would have approved of that notch job and the placement was perfect. Colour me impressed, Nick. That wall looks gorgeous all cleared off. My goodness, it’s a load of work but Jenna, you found yourself a truly special property. Thank you for bringing us along on this journey. ❤
Love the name "peanut"..! Thank you for sharing all your hard work on this amazing renovation and making it fun to watch!
The rock wall would look beautiful planted with ground coverage plans and herbs!❤
In the area close to the pool you cleaned out I would plant either a Cedar tree which was in one of those pictures or a Weeping Norway spruce, both are beautiful ornamental trees and add beauty and go with your surroundings. Another small ornamental tree is a Japanese Maple, beautiful color.
uh oh. *sees the blackberry bushes*, those are there for soil retention. Trim them, don't remove them if they are on a slope. If you remove them, one good rain fall and your house is going to have soil erosion problems. The city might even fine you if you remove them entirely and it causes damage to the property below it.
Good idea!
Or the pool just might slide down.
No one plants (Himalayan) black berries on purpose in the PNW they are an extremely invasive nuisance plant that spreads rapidly on its own. Even if soil retention is an issue - blackberry would not be the desired solution
I don't understand why they even want to remove them on that steep bit?
Ohh...a rock climbing wall 😆🫣
Ok.
Not sure, if she was serious about that, but otherwise...why remove them at all? They're perfectly fine groundcover.
I thought the same thing. They should have kept them and the tree. You need more than just rocks to keep that house on the hill especialy after as long as its been there
For the hilly area of the yard, you can plan out a winding path that goes down the hillside. In the areas between the path, plan out different garden beds filled with native flora, herbs, and flowers. I think midway down the hill it would be nice to create a flat area in the hillside to place a small seating area for a small table and two chairs. It would provide a beautiful, calming place to have a cup of tea or coffee and give a beautiful view of the surrounding area. You could also plan a water feature for the yard that uses the hill to its advantage. A small pool at the bottom of the hill with a faux creek/spring at the top feeding it, following a concrete creek bed. The change in elevation would lend itself to a small waterfall as well. You could put a few small fish in the pool as well.
