    Just wanted to say this is a great DIY service video and suggesting pump saver at the end of the video is another valuable piece of advice.

    Have now used this to clean house siding and it performed well ua-cam.com/users/postUgkx43QMbQqu67IZadu9ou8Sg1BdrunMRNqX I also bought some wand extensions which enabled higher washing without needing a ladder. I recommend both. This unit arrived quickly, was easy to assemble (only had to attach the handle), and arrived in perfect condition. The only very slight downgrade from a perfect score is the design has a low handle and requires pulling from the side. My old washer was an upright model, while this one is more horizontal. Other than that, it's perfect for my needs. It has a great deal of pressure and more easily cleaned the house siding, porch rails and concrete than did my older model. The engine is a bit louder, as well, but the total time to clean was reduced by the more powerful spray. Did I mention it starts on the first or second pull every time?!! I am definitely happy with this model.

    Great video! Anyone who has problems sliding the pump off after removing bolts, just tap it with a hammer or use a small pry bar. Shaft is likely corroded causing it to hang up.

    Your video was exactly what I needed! Replaced the pump in no time. I was a bit annoyed that the new bolts needed a hex wrench to tighten them, not a conventional wrench. Very, very tedious.

    Speaking of homesteading and water pressure I just had to replace my 1/2 horse deepwell pump yesterday. We've had cistern water all my life, never had city water up on this Mountain. We got a 10,500 gallon concrete cistern that we use for our front porch. It's like 24x12 I think. Have a old 1960 c50 Viking we haul water with. 1600 gallon per tank.

    Great video. I did the same thing to mine. Also a Simpson, also didn't winterize, also cracked in almost the exact spot. I was able to find the manifold without the pump, but it was about the same price so I'm wishing I'd gone for the whole pump replacement. Oh well, at least it works.

    Great video, my question is I see a little sticker that says use 15w40 oil in pump. Where do you put it in at? In my 4000psi it has an inlet on top. Thanks in advance

    Mine cracked in the same spot. Bought the new pump, but cannot get the super soft bolts off. The top two came off fine, but the bottom ones are torqued so tight and cannot remove them and are slightly rounding the heads. The size of the head isn't exactly a metric nor a standard size and the metal is so soft. Ugh.

  • @marcsantoro2792
    @marcsantoro2792 2 роки тому

    Question....Is there a reason you replaced the entire pump vs just that front part that cracked? I did the exact same thing as you and didn't winterize, which caused mine to crack in the same spot. Looks like you could pull the three bolts with an allen wrench and remove just the water in/outtake and then save the rest of the pump housing for the future when/if the pump actually dies.

    Great video! Why bother to winterize if taking the pump off is that easy? I will be taking my pump off and storing in a heated basement for winter. Why take the chance the antifreeze does it job. Antifreeze is nasty stuff. Thanks for showing how easy!

      The bottom bolt on the side of the water outlet is a pain to get off. Notice in the video he already had it out. If you can get it off without stripping it you’re golden.

    Only problem is the base of pressure washer is to compact. Pump protector fluid cannot screw in properly.

      @theusconstitution9105 since this comment, I was told by simpson customer support that this pump is a sealed maintenance free unit. Essentially a use till toast pump, meaning a full pump replacement if fails.

    I’ve never seen a guy so happy to replace a part that shouldn’t have failed in the first place. These Simpson pumps are total junk obviously if many people are seeing failure at the same spot. Why isn’t that connection area piece replaceable only. If failure is so common without winterizarion, why isn’t a winterizer kit a part of the purchase.

  • @williamsantiago7303

    Don't do what this guy did and that is when he installed the pump bolts he did not use loctite. This machine vibrates so much that it will shake those bolts loose and it will chew up that pump. ALWAYS use loctite. My machine had the bolts backed off because by factory they cheaped out and didn't use any. Luckily I happened to look down after a few minutes of use and I saw my pump dancing around in place and one of the 4 bolts fell off. I went ahead and put blue loctite on the bolts and never had a problem again. There's too much shaking going on with these small engines so it is recommended to use the stuff. Loctite is cheap and is well worth it and saves you ALOT OF MONEY.

    Can I just get the gasket for this pump? I live in Florida so mine didn’t freeze or crack. But after like 10-15 hours on the engine it started squirting water and has no pressure. Shitty quality pump design in my opinion
