Ikr? anyway, since it sounds like you're very familiar with the game, can you help me out? Can you tell me how to get the different endings without spoiling them? Please?
I love this song, it's location in the game is perfect. Being on the outside of the island seeing the moon and watching the clouds stroll by is really peaceful. There is also this sense of urgency to get to the top and foil the doctor's plans. It's a masterpiece of a game.
+Greenjay64 yes it did especially seeing an empty mimiga village and hearing that lonely music after the iron head boss fight. It sets the stakes for the player to get mentally charged for the upcoming final confrontation with the doctor.
"This is it, Quote. Your last chance to get out of here alive. The others are done for... the Doctor has won. Come with me. You can try to save them, but you're only throwing your life away. Go if you want, but know this: I'm leaving. You go now, you're gone for good. When you come back, I won't be here." That's how this song makes me feel. The final decision; the last chance. Get out with your life and abandon those you worked so hard to save, or realize your efforts and fulfill your job, even at the cost of your own being.
TheChiperSdre34 I'm really lad that you said this, because I struggle to find people that understand me when I say this to them. When I saw Video Games Live, they did a rendition of this and I flat out balled it was so beautiful.
When I first got to this part, I didn't even know to go up the mountain. I thought it would be a hidden part of the area where you'd get a secret weapon or something, but it wasn't. When I kept getting higher and higher, and things getting more and more difficult, I was more and more amazed. All while this song was playing. Amazing game.
This really makes me wonder, “Should I risk it all, and confront the doctor to avenge King and everyone else? Or should I leave everything behind?” No other video game soundtrack has made me feel this way. Beautiful
While it took longer, I think the game was better for only having 1 developer. A big game, with so many developers, has all those potentially conflicting viewpoints and styles. With only 1 person, yes it'll take far longer, but it feels far more focused and solid. Nothing is half-done because someone didn't feel it wasn't right.
That's why the director is the most important part of any production. A single person who has the power to shoot down any idea they feel doesn't fit their vision. Without a great director, any production will be marred by bad ideas that don't actually contribute positively to the final product. I think that's why Nintendo has such a great history. Miyamoto has always been there to shoot down bad ideas and help new devs create great games.
Having one person do all of the story, art, and soundtrack really helps make everything fit together perfectly like a puzzle. Everything is crafted to fit into its place, to carry the moods and tones they're meant to in their moments.
I remember hearing this song for the first time. I couldn't save Curly bcuz I didn't know how. And accepted to escape with Kazuma. I read somewhere that the developer of this game, and the soundtrack, had zero background in music. This doesn't seem possible, since it's one of the best soundtracks and is highly derivative of great chiptune NES classics such as the Rockman/Megaman games. It doesn't seem realistic to me that someone could craft this music as kind of a 'first try.' Someone dispell this for me, as either rumor or a misunderstanding.

This song brings out a sense of hopeless perseverance, as you try to keep going but you know it's pointless to try and fight the doctor. "King, Toroko, Booster, and Curly are dead, Quote. If you fight the Doctor, you will join them. But we can escape and live away from the Doctor's grasp. Flee or die. The choice is yours."
This song is such an incredible example of music telling the story of the game. This is the soundtrack to Quote's choice: run away, or stay and fight. After the previous two areas and their songs, which gave you the feeling of having lost everything and everyone, this song instead is pensive, almost meditative. It encourages you to stop and really think about what's happened and what you have to do. The fact that it plays for much, much longer if you choose the good ending of climbing the wall is a great nod to the idea that the climb is giving Quote time to mentally recover from what's happened and harden his resolve, and at the same time, listening to this track encourages the player to calm down and not make their decision based on emotions like fear or grief. It brings you into the mindset of Quote: not a human that would give up instantly when faced with the seeming impossibility of the situation, as Kazuma does, but a robot, fearless and willing to attempt the impossible in the pursuit of his duty. And then no matter what choice you make, the next song you hear immediately either punishes you with the "bad ending" theme, or rewards you with the frickin title theme, telling you that you've made the right choice and the REAL story - the neutral or good ending - starts here. Freaking brilliant.

I haven't played Cave Story yet but I heard this from an SSBB mod. I gotta play it
My point was that a game that was much less popular could actually have better game play and quality. I wasn't comparing the two, I was simply saying a game with so much more content than Cave Story has less quality. I'm not hating on Minecraft and I don't want to see any "Click here to start your adventure" comments.
what a great view

Not a fan of the game itself, but I really like this song.

Mitochondria Raine Aw...well I hope you could give it another try someday.

Moonsong.
