That's actually an experience to vie for. Imagine seeing the sky for the first time. Not when you're young and can't even remember anything - when you're old enough to let that experience sink into you.
Says a lot about how music is being made now. Kind of amazing that the songs with the largest teams tend to be the most simple. There's only so many people involved because they are all trying to craft music in a way that is the most profitable, vs. any actual genuine expression. I've fallen into the trap myself, and have found that trying to go about it through academia has only served to make me jaded and overwhelmed.
@Firstname Lastname The guy coded EVERYTHING, from the game all the way down to the tools used to make it, so not only did he make the game the art and the music, he programmed the software used to make the music. He did all this while holding down a computer programming job
The first time you are not in a cave. You can almost feel the fresh air blowing while you look out from this giant floating island you've wondered so much about the entire game. This was the moment I knew I loved this game.
(Spoilers ahead) This is honestly one of the best moment for me in gaming. Booster was dead, everyone else I knew was missing, and my best friend died so I could live. Egg Corridor was a wreck, and at the end of all the wreckage was Kazuma, the person I knew who was alive. Then we get to the question of if I want to escape. I sat there for a good minute wondering what I should say. Then I realized that if I left, I knew the Doctor would win, and after all that stuff I went through, there was no way I was going to let him live. So, I said no, and proceeded to climb the wall, while all these though went thoughts my head. I was going to kill the doctor, and save everyone, and avenge all those who were harmed because of his selfish desires... This is why this is my favorite game ever.
as an undertale fan its probably because they don't cheak the release date also they never listened to temmie changs interviews meaning that they never learnt that many of the charaters were inspired by cave story

How many times I've wanted to go back and get here for the first time again. The hope I felt, that even after so much loss, I could still save those who remained. It's a rare feeling from a game that can only happen the first time through.
I remember when I first listened to Doctor from Homestuck and thinking this is familiar somehow. It took me to do another playthrough of this game 2 years after the original to realize that Doctor sounded like and was based off of this song. I love it when Cave Story music pops up elsewhere. This game has the one of the best soundtracks IMO.
Out of all the videogames I've played in my life... and all the soundtracks following them... this is one of the very few that's always stuck to me. This soundtrack is absolutely wonderful and words simply can't explain how much I love this. This game in its entirety is an absolute masterpiece and it'll always have a huge part in my heart. Cave Story is one of the best videogames to ever be created... its beauty is inimaginable. Amazing work... I'll cherish this forever. P.D. My eyes always get watery whenever I listen to this...

I would love to go back to the early 2010's when I first discovered Cave Story. There were so many great indies from 2007-2015 (and there still continue to be!)

Oh and Binding of Isaac in 2011 and Hotline Miami in 2012 of course. I would say 2010 - 2012 is really when the Indie Scene started booming before that there wasn't nearly as many and they often were less successful overall.
CaveStory is the first game I've played that had the potential of actually making me cry in the end. Whatever supreme being that may have made this universe, I bless you in it's name, Pixel.
This game's ost is beautiful. Even with just beeps and boops, Pixel managed to make something absolutely astounding. And the most amazing part is that this entire game was built entirely from scratch by him. I hope he makes a prequel or sequel. And/or Quote for Smash Bros.
When I reached the outer wall from the Egg Corridor. Kazuma made me to choose whether I want to escape with him or not. This song makes me feel this is the last chance to save the mimigas and the world. Kazuma, sorry. I have to save Curly and the mimigas. I'm not leaving without them!

Man does this song bring back memories. Out of high school, trying to deal with depression and anxiety of what came next and I ended up escaping to the computer after discovering ROMs and eventually this masterpiece. I was hooked, the story stuck with me especially with how dark it got and I remember finally beating it and just sitting there with so many emotions in my head. One of the first video game stories that lingered on in me for a long time. Years later now and life hasn't gotten much better, things in life didn't work out and family members have passed and I sit here at 1am listening to this melancholy song.
i dont even know why this song bursts tears into my eyes, but it makes me feel so sad when i listen to this, its such a beautiful tune, yet it tells such a sad sad tale, it's immense how such intense emotions can get through simple 8-bit music
This song really makes it feel like memories are rushing back through your mind and it is such a pleasant, yet bittersweet feeling, almost like you're longing for what was once was. I'm picking up a hint of nostalgia in this tune.
The entire game you are responding to the doctor, you're losing, your friends are dead or missing, you're all alone, and you get offered an escape, but you say no, you don't run, then its an uphill climb, you feel like you're finally not going to lose, you have nothing left to lose. This song is so bittersweet

Whenever i listen to this song i think about all the Nintendo games ive played that had night themed places or full moons in the background and all the main characters are staring at it at the same time.

This game is hands down one of my favorite games of all time. Especially with Cave Story+, which adds even more to the game. The game's music is amazing, I fell in love with the characters, and I've played this game countless times.
I imagine myself at a beach or park, strolling around as the bright moon and starry sky shine over my head. And while this music is cued too...It's relaxing imagery if you ask me.
Ultimate Cave Story challenge: You can get all the life capsules, weapons, expansions, and items you want. But, you can't save. So, beat the whole game (including sanctuary and ballos) without dying once.
Its possible to do it, but that'd mean if you wanted to stay somewhere to go to the bathroom you'd have to hope to god it wasn't filled with random crap as monsters. That, or buy Defensive Stars.
***** My stupidity got me there. In my opinion the Ultimate Cave Story challenge would be this: You can only use weapons that have to be rechargeable, like the Light Machine Gun and Bubbline. However, you cannot use Missile Launcher or Super Missile Launcher. Nor can you use Defensive Stars. If you choose to fight Ballos (optional), you HAVE to use Snake. I wanna see how far that goes :3
MimigaJoe actually, 1 HP, only the Bubbline (3 damage per shot, lowest damage in game and it has limited ammo), AND no saves/HP capsules/EXP capsules, + no recharge. Final Destination: Ballo's Lair >;3
This song gives off "The Penultimate Stretch" vibes. I mean think of it, this is one of the game's final areas and it has that feeling of hopelessness in it.
This is hands down my favorite track in the entire game. Like almost everyone else, in my first play through I chose the bad ending (running away with Kazuma) and I fucking regretted it right after I chose it. But yeah, you're pretty much bull's eye with the description.
@halfaheartbongobongo Extended is the more common way to say looped game music, because most game music on youtube you only hear it loop once or twice, extended basically means it goes on longer than the average music loop
I actually don't like Eyes Of Flame. It just sounds too repetitive to me. This, Running Hell, Last Battle, and Oppression are my favourite themes in the game.
@EPiCHearts you can't blame him. The odds of beating the Doctor, who just happened to become a Demigod mind you, were slim to none. Most of everybody you knew just died or have gone missing. Who wouldn't want to get out of there at the first instinct? The epilogue even reflected the thoughts going on inside your head (or at least for me imho)
I... I want to say this game is perfect... The music... the characters... it was all so lovely... I don't think I've ever cried from a game before Curly's life force distinguished on *spoiler*'s back. ... But goddammit, Toroko and King! ;_; ... This IS still one of my favorite games of all time.

I loved climbing the side of the island (I assume this is it to get to the plantation). the level was peaceful and to me not too hard (compared to hell) and I enjoyed it almost to the point this was my favourite area in the game. Also never went for the bad ending.

To be honest, I never felt like I let the world down when I first heard this. My first reactions were to just sit there for the first few minutes, then after going through the bad ending, quit, and then continue on my merry way while having an eargasm.
It's time to make your choice... Everyone you care about is either dead or will soon suffer a cruel fate. What are you going to do? Abandon the island and leave it to its demise, living in hiding as a coward. Climb the thorny path to the Doctor and avenge your fallen comrades. Dive into the depths of hell and save the Mimiga by destroying the very source of all this misery, refusing to fight alone anymore. Or restart your game.
The problem isn't in the fact that they have different tastes, it's in the fact that they force feed their tastes upon us by spamming pony avatars, comments, and memes everywhere they go. If you like something, that's nice, but how about you start keeping it to yourself once others get annoyed with it. The hate towards bronies should really be giving people a hint that they're getting fed up with this bullshit. "LOL LE 20% COOLAR" got old after the first week of fanboys spamming it over Reddit.

This game is hands down one of my favorite games of all time. Especially with Cave Story+, which adds even more to the game. The game's music is amazing, I fell in love with the characters, and I've played this game countless times.

I imagine myself at a beach or park, strolling around as the bright moon and starry sky shine over my head. And while this music is cued too...It's relaxing imagery if you ask me.

Ultimate Cave Story challenge: You can get all the life capsules, weapons, expansions, and items you want. But, you can't save. So, beat the whole game (including sanctuary and ballos) without dying once.
Its possible to do it, but that'd mean if you wanted to stay somewhere to go to the bathroom you'd have to hope to god it wasn't filled with random crap as monsters. That, or buy Defensive Stars.
EpicNolegs I would think that would be a minor problem...there are plenty of completely safe places in the game, and more that you can make safe.
***** My stupidity got me there. In my opinion the Ultimate Cave Story challenge would be this: You can only use weapons that have to be rechargeable, like the Light Machine Gun and Bubbline. However, you cannot use Missile Launcher or Super Missile Launcher. Nor can you use Defensive Stars. If you choose to fight Ballos (optional), you HAVE to use Snake. I wanna see how far that goes :3

The ultimate Cave Story challenge has to involve a 3 HP run somehow. 3 HP, no saves, Polar Star only... Final Destination.
MimigaJoe actually, 1 HP, only the Bubbline (3 damage per shot, lowest damage in game and it has limited ammo), AND no saves/HP capsules/EXP capsules, + no recharge. Final Destination: Ballo's Lair >;3
This song gives off "The Penultimate Stretch" vibes.
I mean think of it, this is one of the game's final areas and it has that feeling of hopelessness in it.
This is hands down my favorite track in the entire game.
Like almost everyone else, in my first play through I chose the bad ending (running away with Kazuma) and I fucking regretted it right after I chose it.
But yeah, you're pretty much bull's eye with the description.

@halfaheartbongobongo Extended is the more common way to say looped game music, because most game music on youtube you only hear it loop once or twice, extended basically means it goes on longer than the average music loop

I actually don't like Eyes Of Flame. It just sounds too repetitive to me. This, Running Hell, Last Battle, and Oppression are my favourite themes in the game.
@EPiCHearts you can't blame him. The odds of beating the Doctor, who just happened to become a Demigod mind you, were slim to none. Most of everybody you knew just died or have gone missing. Who wouldn't want to get out of there at the first instinct? The epilogue even reflected the thoughts going on inside your head (or at least for me imho)

The music... the characters... it was all so lovely... I don't think I've ever cried from a game before Curly's life force distinguished on *spoiler*'s back.

I loved climbing the side of the island (I assume this is it to get to the plantation). the level was peaceful and to me not too hard (compared to hell) and I enjoyed it almost to the point this was my favourite area in the game. Also never went for the bad ending.

One of my favorite pieces in cave story.
To be honest, I never felt like I let the world down when I first heard this. My first reactions were to just sit there for the first few minutes, then after going through the bad ending, quit, and then continue on my merry way while having an eargasm.
This is the most I've ever been pumped in a fight since "Leap the Precipice"
