Was (Not Was)!!! One of my all-time favorite bands. Yeah, "Shake Your Head" is from _Born to Laugh at Tornadoes_ , which was their second album. Their third album, _What Up, Dog?_ , is the one that features "Walk the Dinosaur," and is one of the greatest albums of the 1980s. They are a seriously underrated band.
Don Was is also a superstar producer! I remember the first time I heard ''Shake Your Head'' and couldn't believe what I was hearing. Also, cool the female voice on that song is Kim Basinger. ''Walk The Dinosaur'' was everywhere for a time. Yes, absolutely a underrated band. Your friend, Brett Strong
@@machinomusicfilms Ah, but do you know who the original female voice was supposed to be: Madonna. And this was BEFORE she released an album. Can't remember the reason why, but her vocals were scrapped.
@@mournblade1066 That would have been cool! I think that was mentioned in the Ozzy Prince Of Darkness liner notes, but I totally forgot about it. Madonna early on was a punk singer in a band called The Breakfast Club. Some of those raw recordings have been released. Kim Basinger was, I believe, hanging around Prince at the time and did some music.
DEVO is another one of my favorite bands. "Pink Pussycat" is a really messed up song from _Duty Now_ , which is my favorite DEVO album. Don't forget Bob Mothersbaugh (aka, Bob 1) also does occasional vocals. He sings "Secret Agent Man" and parts of "Smart Patrol."
Oh yes! Bob Mothersbaugh was the all-American, working class everyman voice and why he sung on ''Secret Agent Man''. My personal favorite Bob 1 vocal is on ''The Rope Song'' one of the early tracks from Hardcore Vol.2. Mark and Gerry got the edge for me as their voices were usually the most prominent. And Gerry could do a pretty good Elvis Presley. Thanks for watching! Your friend, Brett Strong
@@machinomusicfilms I'll have to check out "The Rope Song"--I've never heard of it before. I have Hardcore Volume 1, but not 2. Back in the late 1990s, I mailed all my DEVO CDs to their Mutato Music studio, and all four original members (Mark, Gerry, Bob 1, and Bob 2) signed them. I emailed them in advance, and the person replied that Mark and Bob 1 could sign them right away, but if I would be willing to wait a month, then Gerry and Bob 2 would be back and could sign them, too. I opted for that option!
@@mournblade1066 Hardcore Vol.2 was a bit harder to find. My brother got it through the fan club. He also got a copy of New Traditionalists that was signed by Mark, which was cool because he didn't ask for it - It just showed up! That's awesome you got the whole band's signatures. Fun Fact: Machino Music is a partial reference to Mutato Muzika.
@@machinomusicfilms Oh cool, I didn't know that! Anyway, New Traditionalists was the first album (well, cassette) I ever bought with my own money, way back in 1982 or thereabouts--I was 12 years old at the time.
@@mournblade1066 Devo Greatest Hits was the first Devo album I remember getting and then started getting some of the actual albums. A lot of them back then were 2 in 1. I think for years I had New Traditionalists in a dual with Duty Now For The Future until getting each (with bonus tracks) single.
Singin in the rain! I remember I needed to rent that from Netflix - mail version. Blockbuster didn’t have a copy of that in their store. Since then, I’ve loved that movie! It definitely hit me with the feels. Your brain is all wired up. Too many ideas in there probs why it’s tough for you to sleep? I knew Dua Lipa was gonna be in this list! You love yourself some Dua. Oh gosh Lady Gaga! I freaking miss Gaga’s music, but we’ll always have her old albums. Not sure if I heard her Telephone first or Poker Face first. I just remember there was a subway station in the music video. Could be wrong. Hehe. Oh yes Cyndi! It’s never a farewell tour. I thought she was done when she got sick, but she kept on goin! Woahhh I didn’t know Christina hit that note, but I do remember that hairstyle during that time. It was epic for no reason, but also for so many reasons! Gotta do what you gotta do for Queens. Worth it. This must have been tough to narrow down, but you always conquer!
Lady Gaga was phenomenal on the Olympics Opening Ceremony. I'm also excited to see her as Harley Quinn in the upcoming Joker sequel. The movie overall doesn't look very good, but Lady Gaga will deliver - she always does! This was pretty difficult to narrow down. There were so many I wanted to put on and I didn't feel like doing a multi-part or even two part episode. These 10 were the absolute musts! And yes - Christina Aguilera Album Ranking is coming very soon. Could even be one of the first episodes coming after the little break after today's episode. Stay tuned! Your friend, Brett Strong
I absolutely Fu**ing love Lady Gaga, I love her music, a star is born house of gucci, and im so fu**ing pumped for joker 2. Seeing her as Harley Quinn, and she was also great is Ahs Hotel.
Lady Gaga is truly amazing! Most definitely one of my biggest heroes. I, too, am excited for Joker 2. The movie overall doesn't look particularly good, but Lady Gaga will be great. Thanks for watching. Your friend, Brett Strong
