    Hey, Neil. Every content of yours in every aspect is so perfect. Firstly: The Knowledge... Nobody has shared what you are sharing with us. I can see years of experience/knowledge in just a 10mins video. Secondly: The quality of all of your videos, the quality of your audio in that. I can't thankyou for that it would be so small for what you are doing for us. Amount of all the efforts you are putting to bring this to us can be seen in your videos. ❤

I look forward to sharing a lot more with you. Keep up the practicing!

    this video was pretty eye opening to me. everyone always talks about the caged system, but this just makes so much more sense. can you do a video of ideas on where to take this next after we have learned all 7 positions?

      @@mattytoptop470 hey no worries don’t rush it, keep practicing and working on the fundamentals. Once you have a confident grasp of them it should start to make more sense, and I hope my videos using scales and solfege will give you more insight into how they can be applied. If you can, do get a good in-person teacher too 😃

    Hello Neil Chan, First of all we all are thankful for such valuable knowledge you are providing us with your videos and teaching technique. I have a request for a video which covers all the aspects a guitarist must focus and learn well right from the beginner stage to advance and performer level. It would also be nice if the video covers all the topic and techniques as well as some songs which one can learn on different stages to practice well. Also, when one should start to play and develop their own fingerstyle and everything, basically, if you would have to start over learning guitar how would you?. Thank you!

      Hey Manas, thank you for your kind words, it's a joy to share this knowledge with all of you. 'If I had to start learning guitar all over again, how would I do it?'. Thanks for the idea, I'll add that to my list and see if I can cover it sometime soon :)

    Nice video. I took these patterns and made two octave scales with them, both major and minor.
    I like how you explore different genres of music from all over the world in your channel. Do you write any music of your own?

    • @neilchanmusic
      @neilchanmusic  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks for your thoughts Javea! Glad to hear you managed to expand on the scales on your own. I love studying music from diverse styles and yes, I do write quite a bit of music. I've not released much yet however, but am working on it! :D Do you write as well?

      @@neilchanmusic Yea I write some stuff. I have some drafts posted on my channel but they're seriously lacking in technique. I will post updated versions at some point. I look forward to hearing some stuff you write and will keep checking out your channel for new stuff. I like the religious theme as well as this is one of the inspirations for my songs. My real name is Martin btw. Keep up the good work!

    hi Neil, do you recommend 3nps and / or caged scale patterns? This seems like a crossover? Thank you

    • @neilchanmusic
      @neilchanmusic  3 роки тому +2

      I recommend this system of 7 scale positions. Essentially it is the same as the CAGED system, but with two additional positions. it allows you to seamlessly play across the neck while the caged system gets disjointed at certain points.

    It's really cool ! But is it usefull only when the key of the music is Cmajor?

    • @neilchanmusic

      Oh not at all, these 7 positions apply for every single key you can think of! Just change the position of the root note :)

    • @neilchanmusic
      @neilchanmusic  3 роки тому +1

      @@quentingibouin for example C is the root or tonic note of the C major scale, but in the scale D major D will be the tonic note. They are both tonic notes but in different keys! Eg. To play the 5-2 position in D major, you will start on the 5th fret of the 5th string which is the note ‘D’, the tonic note of the D major scale.

      @neilchanmusic  3 роки тому +1

      @@quentingibouin yes you can play minor scale in 5-2, but you need to change the fingering positions a little. In fact you can play any scale or mode in 5-2 or any other position. I hope to do more lessons on that in the future, but for now just work on the major scale patterns covered here
