In London, there is an organisation called Detained in Dubai, created exactly because there was so much need to help citizens who were detained there for nothing. The high profile cases i can think of just recently are Jamie Harron, who served prison time for brushing against someone in a bar and the man reported he touched his bum. Matthew Hedges was also locked up as a spy for completing research for his PhD. Numerous women have been locked up for being raped, since unless there are 4 witnesses, they do not distinguish between rape and adultery. Alicia Gali is a famous Australian example, but there are others more recent. She has a documentary on it. She was advised not to report it to the police because of the risk of being arrested for adultery, but she had to go to the hospital because during the gang rape, she was left with broken ribs. The hospital reported her. Not to mention that Dubai is essentially built by slaves. Poor illiterate workers exploited from Pakistan and Bangladesh.

I had several times the curiosity to read this book and I am shocked that there are almost 2 billion people amongst us following it. I mean, it's crystal clear that this book is man-made, not delivered by any God. With every page I turned, I felt my IQ going down by 1 point. Luckily I only managed to reach page 10. There are like 1000 pages there, so imagine the damage. No offense here, I am just stating my personal experience.

I loved the comment ‘how can you have divinity when there is violence?’ As a former catholic and researching the history of my faith, the level of violence perpetrated under the guise of Christianity is truly horrific. Many, many people killed under the greed of popes in the Vatican, not under the instruction of Jesus. Jesus was a peaceful man who ordered us to ‘love one another as I have loved you’. That’s good advice to live by, he wasn’t the son of god, he was a man promoting love, compassion and equality. The rest of it is a money making fairy story. The Vatican’s history of child abuse means I regularly question how Catholicism still has any followers and that also goes for the other world faiths. We are the human family, we should love, honour and care for each other without the brainwashing cults that dictate outdated, mediaeval doctrines regarding what it is to be human.

The reason why Islam got popular is because Muhammad piggy-backed on biblical concepts to establish himself as a warlord by uniting the Arab world through a fabricated religion. He used the Christian concepts of heaven and hell, but badly marred both of these concepts with insane pictures of virgins being used like sex dolls in heaven and people who don’t listen to Muhammad going to hell.
Muhammad’s teachings weren’t half as coherent as the Jewish historical scriptures, which is said because they came about over the course of over a thousand years-and we still have 2000+ y/o manuscripts of these scriptures that show complete coherence.
There’s more than the reason of societal pressure that influences Christians to believe in Jesus. Not only are there very, very clear prophecies, but the evidence remains that his tomb was empty 3 days after he was buried. No atheistic argument has ever gotten around this, because 1.) the Roman guards wouldn’t have been able to take his body, 2.) the disciples wouldn’t have been able to get past the Roman guards, and 3.) Jesus Himself couldn’t have survived his crucifixion, rolled back the boulder, beaten the guards, and escaped.
Further, atheism is getting more and more redundant. If we apply the faith of atheism-that there is no God, and therefore there is no objective “right” or “wrong” way to be-then we’d move closer towards having societies with no sense of justice, peace, or civility: because people wouldn’t understand morality as mere “opinion” and “conjecture”, which would effectively cause human civilization to crumble.
Christianity has done more global service/charity/advancement in the world than any other group, religion, or ruler. Aside from concrete logic, original prophecy (not Hollywood adaptions of the concept), and historical evidence, there’s also personal testimony of millions upon millions of Christians who have detailed experiences with prayer, prophecy, dreams, life changing, etc.
